Bubble Bobble: Sugar Dungeons is a new entry in the long-running series, which started with an arcade co-op title in the 1980s. This time, the franchise is going in a fresh direction that shares roguelike roots with Dead Cells and The Rogue Prince of Persia. Bub, the green dragon, is the star of the show in the single-player, side-scrolling platformer, searching for treasures and doughnut exits to each area. The dungeons will change with each playthrough for Bub, but the green dragon will have the iconic bubbles to bounce on for navigation as well as trapping foes. In addition, Bub can utilize special bubbles--like fire and water--to take out enemies. Treasures found in Bubble Bobble: Sugar Dungeons then can be utilized to upgrade Bub's bubble skills and traded for items. Like other roguelikes, Bubble Bobble: Sugar Dungeons wants players to "grow stronger and go deeper into the dungeon," per the game's showcase trailer (seen above). It's a notable departure from the last game in the franchise, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends. That title stayed true to the arcade roots of the series but offered up four-player co-op.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Windows users will dread the familiar sight of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) whenever they encounter an error. But after nearly 40 years, Microsoft will be retiring this infamous error message, or rather giving it a new color. The company has redesigned the error screen to what will soon be known as the Black Screen of Death. Compared to the current screen, which includes a frowning emoticon and sometimes a QR code, this black screen is more simplified, listing the stop code and faulty system driver. In an interview with The Verge, Microsoft's vice president of enterprise and OS security David Weston said, “This is really an attempt on clarity and providing better information and allowing us and customers to really get to what the core of the issue is so we can fix it faster. Part of it is just cleaner information on what exactly went wrong, where it’s Windows versus a component.”Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Elden Ring Nightreign's toughest boss fight, the Darkdrift Knight, is now in-game for a limited time only as his Everdark Sovereign version. Fulghor is one of the toughest Nightlords to beat thanks to his hard-hitting attacks combined with relentless speed. If you're trying to get all of the Remembrances, then you'll already have attempted to beat Fulghor on more than one occasion. To unlock and fight his Everdark Sovereign version, you'll need to have bested him at least once. Beyond that, here's the best way to beat the Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight, including his weaknesses and our recommended builds.Table of Contents [hide]Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight recommended setupEverdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight recommended setupThe Darkdrift Knight, and in turn his Everdark Sovereign version, is weak to Lightning damage, but has resistance against Holy damage, as this is the type of damage he deals. You'll want to equip lightning-based relics such as the Dark Knight of Baron, which is acquired by beating the Sovereign Gaping Jaw, last week's Sovereign boss. If you didn't get that relic, choose any that boost Lightning attack power, strength, or dexterity stats. On your way to the Sovereign Darkdrift Knight, make sure to interact with the Scale-Bearing Merchant if you come across him. He gives the option to grant resistance to status ailments, enhanced armaments, an additional sacred flask, runes, or improved physique. We chose to take the enhanced armament to increase the chances of getting anything Lightning-based. The best weapon to take to face him is the Bolt of Granssax. If you don't come across it, try to find any Lightning weapon. The Sword of Milos is also valuable, since it decreases the physical damage output of all bosses.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Summer sales have begun kicking off everywhere--from GOG to Steam--and Nintendo is also throwing its hat into the commerce ring with discounts on dozens of its games. The Nintendo Summer Sale is primarily focused on digital games, and right now, there are some great deals for Switch exclusives and third-party titles from a number of studios. NYXI Warrior Lite Wireless Controller for Switch 2 $42.74 (was $50) See at Amazon NYXI Warrior Wireless Controller for Switch 2 $69 | Adds support for original GameCube hardware See at Amazon Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch players can get a new GameCube-inspired wireless controller with Hall Effect sticks, remappable back buttons, trigger locks, and more customizable features for its lowest price yet. The purple NYXI Warrior Lite Wireless Controller is up for grabs for $42.74 (was $50) at Amazon. It's not a massive discount, but for a controller with full support for Nintendo Switch 2 that just released last month, it's a notable offer that's worth checking out. that just released last month and has full compatibility with Nintendo Switch 2.Nintendo's official GameCube controller for Switch 2 is terrific, but its dedication to authenticity makes it less ideal for modern games. The Warrior Lite is one of several third-party controllers that can be used for modern games without any concessions or inconveniences. It's a bit chunkier and wider than the real thing, so it doesn't have the same exact form factor, but it adds several compelling features that make it a versatile option for GameCube games on Switch Online as well as modern Nintendo games.Beyond offering conventional bumpers and triggers, the Warrior Lite has two remappable back buttons. The right and left back buttons have a one-piece panel design that can be removed and switched with an alternate panel inside the box. The main difference between the two styles of back buttons is that one of them is textured and slightly raised for increased tactile feedback. The Warrior Lite is equipped with anti-drift Hall Effect sticks. The right stick mimics the GameCube's yellow C-stick, but you can swap it out for a yellow stick with a more conventional, larger grip. Similarly, you can switch between octagonal stick gates inspired by the GameCube controller and regular stick gates with a circular range of motion.Face buttons, the 8-way D-pad, and shoulder bumpers are actuated by microswitches, giving them a mouse-click feel. Like the sticks, the triggers are activated with Hall Effect sensors, and can be set at two different stopping points with the locking switches on the back. Other core features include built-in, adjustable rumble and 6-axis motion controls. The main downside here is battery life, as the Lite version has a smaller battery that only runs for up to five hours on a full charge. Like many Bluetooth controllers for Switch 2 and Switch, you can use the Warrior Lite on PC, mobile, Steam Deck, and other devices. The Warrior also has a larger battery that can run for up to 10 hours between charges, which is a nice perk. The Warrior comes in three different colors--purple, orange, and black--though only purple is still in stock at Amazon. As mentioned, Nintendo's new wireless GameCube controller for Switch 2 is as close to the original as you'll find. It feels almost exactly like the original, just without the cable and with a few extra small buttons on the top: C button for GameChat, home/menu buttons, and a small ZL button to make up for the fact the GameCube controller only had one shoulder button. But while this is best option for GameCube games on Switch Online, the aforementioned tiny ZL button makes it less than ideal for modern games.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Google will be making a major policy change on who will be allowed to stream on YouTube, which will affect a lot of young people. As of July 22, new guidelines state that the minimum age required to livestream will be raised to 16.Currently, YouTube allows teens aged 13 and above to stream solo, as is also the case with Twitch. However, the new rules (via Insider Gaming) will mean that creators will need to be 16 years or older to livestream on the platform. Children between the ages of 13-15 will still be allowed to appear on a livestream but the policy states that they must be "visibly accompanied by an adult" or else their live chat will be disabled and their account "may temporarily lose access to live chat or other features."These new measures may impact young creators trying to build an online following without the intrusion of parental supervision, but it's also a sign that YouTube is prioritising online safety for children. The policy is also only regarding livestreaming, so there does not currently appear to be any new age restriction when it comes to posting pre-recorded videos.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hideo Kojima's latest game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, has arrived on PlayStation 5. While players continue to pour over the details, they may find a few Easter eggs that were placed in the game by Kojima himself. According to Kojima, he only took that hands-on approach because his staff refused to do it for him.As reported by Game Spark (via Automaton), Kojima confirmed that he personally added those nods to his past. He went on to say that when his staff was asked to include his self-referential jokes, they would pretend they didn't hear him. It's possible that Kojima was only joking about his staff's lack of enthusiasm for his ideas, but he did share the details about where one of his Easter eggs is hidden. He noted that it can be found when players visit a hot spring and look up at the sky before zooming in on the stars.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Riot Games has announced that it will begin officially sanctioning sports-betting sponsorships for esports teams in its Tier 1 League of Legends and Valorant leagues. While the company states that it still won't allow advertisements in its official broadcasts, teams themselves will be able to take money from sports-betting companies for advertising through their own channels. In a blog post, President of Publishing and Esports John Needham writes that the move is designed to take advantage of the rapidly growing sports-betting industry and to make esports-related betting more regulated. Seemingly to address concerns and head off potential criticism, Needham explains that the company is authorizing sports-betting sponsorships under a "guardrails first" strategy. These "guardrails," Needham states, are essentially the rules by which any sponsorship must be executed. First, sports-betting companies need to be vetted and approved by Riot itself, although the company has not shared the criteria on which this vetting is done. Second, to ensure that sports-betting companies are on a level playing field, Riot is mandating that official partners all use GRID, the officially sanctioned data platform for League of Legends and Valorant. Third, esports teams must launch and maintain internal integrity programs to protect against violations of league rules due to the influence of sports betting. Fourth and last, Riot will use some of the revenue from these sponsorships to support its Tier 2 (lower division) esports leagues.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Warning! We're about to go into deep endgame spoilers for Blue Prince, well beyond rolling the credits by reaching Room 46. Read on at your own risk.I had been playing Blue Prince for more than 100 hours before I felt like I truly understood what the game was really about. The revelation came in the form of a journal entry, secreted away in a safety deposit box, hidden within the sometimes tough-to-access vault of the strange and shifting Mount Holly Manor. Reaching the paper requires solving one of Blue Prince's toughest, most obtuse, and most rewarding puzzles, one you won't even realize exists until you've broken through riddle after riddle and uncovered mystery after mystery. It recontextualizes everything that has come before it, not only the winding and involved test of wits that is the manor itself, but the story that had to be similarly excavated along the way--one of political intrigue and family tragedy, the rising and falling of kingdoms, the stoking of revolution, and the sacrifice necessary to breathe life into ideals.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Earlier this week, Capcom shared a new preview for Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth game in the long-running franchise. According to Capcom, Requiem is already on 1 million wish lists across PSN and Steam. But would the number have been that high if Capcom went through with its original plans to make Requiem an online game?Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi shared an online developer diary on Capcom's official site (via VGC) and revealed that the game was originally developed as an online title. Nakanishi added that the team came up with "interesting concepts" for the game, but ultimately abandoned their online plans when the team realized that RE fans didn't want it. Instead, Requiem was re-envisioned as a single-player game like its eight predecessors.Considering the origins of Requiem as an online title, that may explain why it features Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the franchise's first multiplayer game, Resident Evil Outbreak. The story is also picking up the narrative threads from the first three RE games by returning to Raccoon City 30 years after it was bombed to end the zombie infestation.
