As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, Activision announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Didn't we just get a new Black Ops game in 2024? We did, and this will be the first time in franchise history that Activision is releasing Black Ops titles in consecutive years.Black Ops 7 is being developed by Treyarch and Raven Software--the same lead co-developers as Black Ops 6--and takes place in the year 2035. That's more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6 and 10 years after the events of Black Ops 2. Activision said the story in Black Ops 7 will be the "most mind-bending" ever, and that's saying something for a series known for its twists and turns.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Persona 4 Revival was officially unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025 today, following several recent leaks. Like last year's Persona 3 Reloaded, this new version of Persona 4 is a brand-new edition of the classic 2008 RPG by Atlus. The announcement teaser is light on information, aside from confirming that it takes place in the quiet countryside town of Inaba away from the bustling metropolis of the other entries, with a few shots of its high school classrooms and the town's streets, with just a few seconds of the protagonist running through them. It of course won't be too long before he goes head-first into a strange mystery storyline, as he joins his friends to investigate seemingly unsolvable murders while harnessing the power of Personas to crack the case.A remake of Persona 4 became the worst-kept secret in gaming, as prior to its announcement, voice actor Yuri Lowenthal confirmed that he would not be reprising his role as Yosuke Hanamura for the game. "For those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake," Lowenthal said in a since-deleted post on BlueSky. "I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Microsoft is working on multiple new Halo games, one of which could be a remaster of 2001's Halo: Combat Evolved. It was previously reported that a remaster of the first Halo game was in the works and might also come to PS5.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

For the better part of two decades, the Gears of War franchise has been exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC. This summer, that's going to change with Gears of War: Reloaded, the second remaster of the original game from 2006. A new trailer for Reloaded dropped during the Xbox Games Showcase, and it gives PlayStation 5 gamers a chance to see what they've been missing. The game takes place on a colony world named Sera where humans are quickly becoming an endangered species thanks to the emergence of the Locust, a subterranean group that first struck 14 years earlier. Players assume the role of Marcus Fenix and his fellow Delta Squad troopers as they attempt to reverse humanity's fortunes in the war and reclaim Sera as their home.According to Microsoft, the new remaster will support 4K-resolution 120fps support, and multiplayer. It will also have cross-play and cross-production on all platforms. Additionally, players who already own the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition can get Reloaded for free.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

After releasing to critical acclaim back in 2023, Planet of Lana is getting a sequel. Revealed as a part of the June Xbox Games Showcase, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf will pick up where the first game left off, and follows Lana and Mui as they embark on an even greater adventure across the enchanting world of Novo. After saving their home from a robot outbreak in the first game, Planet of Lana 2 sees Lana and her companion Mui take a deep dive into the history of Novo in an effort to uncover its mysterious past. What ensues is an adventure featuring a "deeper, longer story," more challenging puzzles, and a touching story about the duo's "unbreakable bond."Though Planet of Lana 2 will still retain the series' signature side-scrolling gameplay, it seems as though the overall experience will be more fast-paced this go around. According to its Steam page, Planet of Lana 2 will contain more challenging action sequences that make use of Lana's newly heightened agility. Whereas the first game focused largely on her puzzle-solving skills, Lana will now be able to wall jump and break into a slide while running to evade dangerous situations. Additionally, Planet of Lana 2 sees the series refine its stealth mechanics, making the entire adventure more tense and requiring a greater level of strategy.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Activision announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 during the Xbox Games Showcase, and the reveal trailer could also be hinting at Warzone's next big map for battle royale.Near the end of the Black Ops 7 reveal trailer, there is a scene of four soldiers dropping down onto a map, which looks very much like a squad diving into a Warzone match together. The map in question also looks similar to the rumored Avalon map found in Black Ops 6's spectator mode, with both featuring a cluster of islands connected by bridges. This specific scene was saved for the end of the trailer and shown alongside a brief tease of Treyarch's Zombies mode for Black Ops 7, so it is possible Activision is teasing Avalon for Warzone. However, fans shouldn't get their hopes up too soon. Black Ops 7 is revealed to be a co-op campaign, so it is possible the scene in question is just a section of the campaign used to show off four-player co-op. Additionally, known Call of Duty insider "The Ghost of Hope" claims the Avalon map was scrapped for battle royale and would be used for campaign and Outbreak Zombies mode for Black Ops 7.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Vampire Survivors studio Poncle is getting into game publishing, and its first such game is Berserk or Die. Nao Shibata, a solo developer from Japan who makes games under the name Nao Games, revealed the project--an action game with a unique control scheme--is out now.As revealed during the PC Gaming Show, Berserk or Die uses a keyboard and mouse as a controller--but not in the traditional sense. Players will smack the left and right sides of their keyboard in order to move and attack in that direction--with attack power dependent on how many keys are pressed with each slap--while shaking the mouse will activate the player character's special ability. Accessibility options--including a controller-based control scheme--will also be available.Berserk or DieWhen not in battle, players will shop at nighttime peddlers in order to heal and restore magic, and they can also visit the training grounds to learn new abilities for the next fight. Berserk or Die will feature unique pixel art from Nao Games and music from Vampire Survivors composer Filippo Vicarelli.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The battle royale genre dominated 2017. Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends, and other games came out around that time and took over the gaming zeitgeist. We're almost a decade out from the golden age of battle royales and Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney believes it is the best shooter genre out there."If you look at the shooter genre, it evolved with new game types coming out over time based on what was possible with the current technology," Sweeney said in an interview with IGN. "Battle royale just happens to be the best shooter genre yet invented -- and thanks to both the Japanese movie makers and [PUBG creator] Brendan Green for discovering the magic there. But it's definitely not the last. There'll be more and it'll get even better and new technologies are going to make things that are currently impossible, possible, and I think that's going to unleash unexpected surprises and creativity."Sweeney also spoke about the fact that people still view Fortnite as just a battle royale and not an "everything game." Epic Games considers Fortnite a platform that includes creator-made modes as well as developer-created modes like Fortnite Festival and Rocket Racing. Battle royale, including it's multiple spin-offs like Zero Build, is still the game's most popular mode.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
