Jim Carrey's breakout year at the box office started with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and at long last, that comedy classic is releasing on 4K Blu-ray on July 29. The Limited Edition Steelbook version is available to preorder for $33 at Walmart or $36 at Amazon. Amazon has sold out of preorders once already (at full price), but if it remains in stock this time, we'd expect the retailer to match Walmart's price prior to launch. That said, it's also possible that the price-matching will go the other way, and Walmart increases its price to $36. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Limited Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray) $33 at Walmart | $36 at Amazon (was $45) | Releases July 29 The 4K Blu-ray edition of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was created using the original 35mm camera negative. It supports Dolby Vision with HDR10 and DTS-HD 5.1 Surround Sound. There aren't any new bonus features, but the audio commentary with director Tom Shadyac is included on both the 4K Blu-ray disc and remastered 1080p Blu-ray disc. The latter should offer better visual and audio quality than the original Blu-ray release since it is based on the 4K transfer. The Blu-ray disc also has the theatrical trailer. The original 1997 laserdisc release of Pet Detective had three episodes of the Ace Ventura animated series, but unfortunately those episodes have never been included with subsequent Blu-ray releases. The steelbook case features original artwork of Ventura's signature hairstyle and a pigeon worth $25,000 resting on Jim Carrey's head. Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Walmart Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Collector's Edition (4K Blu-ray) $40 | Releases July 29 Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is also getting a standard edition 4K Blu-ray release on the same day. Though it's officially called a "Collector's Edition," make no mistake that the collectible version is the aforementioned Steelbook Edition. This edition includes a standard plastic case and cardboard sleeve with one of the promotional images for the theatrical release. At the time of writing on May 21, this edition is actually more expensive than the Limited Edition Steelbook at both retailers. Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Walmart Ace Ventura was one of the biggest comedy films of the mid-1990s, thanks mostly to Jim Carrey's wild performance as the titular pet detective. While the movie does have some content that is very dated when viewed through a modern lens, it's still a laugh riot thanks to the constant flow of one-liners and a solid mystery at its core. A sequel would arrive a few years later and it saw Ventura travel to Africa--much to the relief of several dozen Buddhist monks--but this one hasn't received a 4K Blu-ray release yet. You can find it on Blu-ray, or as part of an Ace Ventura Blu-ray double feature.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Prior to this month, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick assured investors that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 6 was on track for a 2025 debut, while also acknowledging the possibility of a delay. However, the game was pushed back to a May 2026 release earlier this month. Now, Zelnick has shared his reaction to GTA 6's delay after offering an explanation. While speaking with IGN, Zelnick noted that GTA 6 needed the extra time for the developers to polish the title and turn it into become the game that fans want it to be."As we get closer to completion of a title that's seeking perfection, the needs or lack thereof, for continued polish become clear," said Zelnick "In this case there was an opportunity with a small amount of incremental time, we thought, to make sure Rockstar Games achieves its creative vision with no limitations. And I supported of course that approach."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nintendo of America sounds confident that Switch 2 supply should be in pretty good shape this year domestically. Sure, preorders sold out almost instantly for the June 5 launch, but company president Doug Bowser believes they have a good production plan for 2025--including the busy holiday season.Speaking to IGN, Bowser was asked about meeting Switch 2 demand in the US. "As we look at our plans here in the US, we do believe we'll have production and supply that will allow us to meet consumer demand," said the Nintendo of America president. "We know there's been strong positive reaction to Nintendo Switch 2 early on and we've seen that through our preorders, but we do have a plan to have a continuous flow of product that'll be available through the holidays."This echoes what Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said earlier this month. He stated that production wasn't a driving factor in forecasting 15 million unit sales of the upcoming system. Instead, he highlighted that Switch 2's higher price compared to the original Switch could have the biggest effect on hardware sales this year.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The parent publisher of Grand Theft Auto VI has weighed in on the topic of $80 games amid speculation that Rockstar's upcoming game could carry a higher price tag than some expect. Specifically, some have theorized that GTA 6 might cost $100, though there is no evidence of this yet. Speaking on Take-Two's latest earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company aims to "focus on value," which is to say that the company wants to deliver "way more value to a consumer than whatever that consumer pays." Zelnick said he thinks about it this way as opposed to "what the top line price is."That doesn't answer the question of whether or not GTA 6 will cost $80 or more, and it won't be Take-Two that communicates the price. Zelnick said Take-Two's individual labels set prices, and it won't be consistent. For example, 2K Games is charging $50 for Mafia: The Old Country, while some of 2K's other games will cost more. As for Rockstar Games, it, too, will set its own prices, including for GTA 6.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As you can see, Take-Two has 38 titles listed for released by the end of FY 2028 (April 1, 2028), and only 12 have been announced so far.Given that, Take-Two surely has numerous announcements still to come, though the company also cautioned that, "It is likely that some of these titles will not be developed through to completion" or that release dates could change. Take-Two said it might add more games to the slate, too.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
