From what I can gather, there are folks out there wishing for a solo or duos mode in the latest free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone. Both modes, Warzone and Plunder, are built around three-player squads and can have up to 150 players in each match as of the game's launch. But if you select "Don't Fill" in the Squad Fill option on the bottom left corner of your lobby screen before going into matchmaking, you can drop in solo or with one partner. So while, yes, you can go into matches alone or with one other friend, we wouldn't recommend it.Be warned, Warzone isn't as fun solo against squads. But I'll let you be the judge of that.Of course, going solo or as a duo against full squads of three is going to be tougher, because that's how math works--you won't have anyone watching your back or providing extra firepower in combat. But it's also because this isn't just Modern Warfare with more players and on a huge map, there are some fundamental changes to mechanics that make it harder for the lone wolves out there.Namely time-to-kill has changed drastically because of the armor system, which has a big effect on how even the sharpest of shooters will fare in firefights. Sometimes it's not enough to catch an enemy off guard--if they're armored up, they'll probably have time to escape death and find cover. One of the most important deaths in the Batman mythos, the death of second Robin Jason Todd in #428, almost didn't happen. In 1988, in the lead-up to Jason Todd's death, readers were able to vote on whether or not the divisive character should survive a beating from the Joker (followed by the explosion of the building he was in), and the fans ultimately voted for his death.Now, Polygon has gotten an exclusive look at the original alternate pages that were created in case the poll had swung the other way, revealing how Batman would have handled Jason Todd's survival. If Todd had survived the Death in the Family arc, as it turns out, DC still had a way to keep him off the pages for the foreseeable future.Head to Polygon to see the pages that were not printed. In them, a jubilant Batman discovers that Todd is alive, but badly hurt. Batman quickly removes his costume and wraps him in a towel so as to hide his identity as they go to the hospital. In a single later panel, Bruce visits Jason in the hospital--he's in a coma, and Bruce says that it's up to "the boy's own recuperative powers" whether or not he pulls through.This essentially means that the comics could have continued on, as they did, with Jason Todd's survival not affecting the course of the arcs that followed until D.C. decided to wake him from his coma. Call of Duty's new battle royale game, Warzone, is out now. As expected, the game's developers--Infinity Ward and Raven Software--plan to support the game for some time to come.Publisher Activision said in a press release that the developers have a "ton of content plans and live events" to come for Warzone. A new game focused on learning other languages, Trancelation, releases for Switch on March 13. Teamfight Tactics, an Auto Chess spin-off from League of Legends, is having a huge month. Along with making a full debut on Android, Riot is shaking things up in the next big patch, Galaxies.Similar to the previous re-haul, Rise of the Elements, Galaxies is replacing everything. The new set will include all-new champions, traits, skins, boards, Little Legends, and whole new mechanics. These changes have been made with the previous sets in mind, as the developers are looking to learn from each change and make every game feel a little bit different.Each game will take place in a different galaxy and feature a randomized set of rules. These rules can be as small as changing the number of items players can buy initially, up to allowing players to purchase four-star champions on round one. How these small or big changes will affect the gameplay is completely random, with no two games playing out the same way. A new Spider-Man spin-off movie is coming, but it's not going to be part of the MCU. According The Wrap, Sony has hired Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer Roberto Orci to write a new spin-off. There is no word on which character the movie will focus on, however.The key thing to know here is that this movie will be part of Sony's own Spider-Man universe, and not the MCU. Ori and the Blind Forest was a delight in 2015--a tough-as-nails combination of a metroidvania structure and Meat Boy-like demands with a surprising amount of heartfelt heft. Five years later, Moon Studios' followup, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, is every bit as graceful and lovely as its predecessor, even if some of the emotional beats and exploration feel a little less novel the second time around.Will of the Wisps picks up almost immediately where Blind Forest left off, with Ori's patchwork family unit welcoming a new member, the owlet Ku. The family is happy and loving, but Ku wants to fly and Ori wants to help her. Soon the two are swept off in a gale to a new forest deep with rot, which begins the adventure in earnest.Because this setting is disconnected from the one in Blind Forest, the geography is new, yet familiar. The painterly imagery is comforting, especially in the opening hours as you explore similar biomes. They're beautifully rendered again, but a little samey if you've played the first game. After a while, Will of the Wisps opens up to more varied locales, like an almost pitch-black spider's den or a windswept desert. The theme throughout the story is the encroachment of the Decay, a creeping evil that overtook this neighboring forest after its own magical life tree withered. But if it's meant to be ugly, you wouldn't know it from many of the lush backgrounds--especially in the case of a vibrant underwater section. Phantasy Star Online 2 is one of Japan's most popular online RPGs, but it's never been playable outside of Asia before. As part of its North American launch--which does not have an exact release date yet--Sega has announced an upcoming open beta for the game on Xbox One on March 17.This follows a closed beta that ran in early February. All progress from that beta will carry over to this one, and then eventually to the final game launch. According to the game's official site, it requires a whopping 75 GB of free space, as well as an Xbox Live Gold subscription. If you previously downloaded the client, it will update for the open beta on March 16.Fans have clamored for a North American release of PSO2 for almost a decade now. An English version of the game was first teased at PAX in late 2012--however, the game was unceremoniously delayed without explanation. Warzone rolls out into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Tuesday, March 10--the new mode will include two game types, Plunder and the long-rumored Battle Royale. Both Plunder and Battle Royale will take place on a massive-looking map. If you're looking to plan ahead, Infinity Ward has revealed an overview of the map via Twitter.The map (below) is a large area of Verdansk, with mountainous regions in the north and a body of water in the south. It's pocketed with several landmarks, including the Atlas Superstore, a stadium, lumber yard, quarry, and racing track. A dotted line appears to show the playable area, which in battle royale fashion will shrink as the match proceeds.Warzone will be free-to-play, so you can jump in and join the battle royale even if you don't own the main Modern Warfare game. It will support up to 150 players, and Modern Warfare owners will get access a few hours early. There are other benefits to being in the Modern Warfare player pool as well, since non-owners will have a huge download size. Activision has announced and revealed Call of Duty: Warzone, a new standalone free-to-play game that is also available through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as a game mode. Warzone itself is divided into two separate modes: Plunder and Battle Royale. The star of the show is Battle Royale though, and the new mode implements several features to give you something to do during the traditional downtimes of a battle royale game.The most noteworthy of these is The Gulag. "Upon your first elimination, you will be taken as a Prisoner of Warzone and thrown into the Gulag," Activision's Stephanie Glover wrote in a blog post. "There you will await your fate and watch other prisoners fight to the death. When your turn is up, you'll enter the Gulag and face-off against a single opponent in a 1v1 to earn the ultimate reward--redeployment."If you don't happen to win in the Gulag, all is not lost. Your squad can still bring you back with in-match cash, and that's where Contracts come in.
