One of Blizzard's most veteran developers is moving on. Michael Chu, who first joined Blizzard in 2000 and most recently served as the lead writer for the Overwatch series, has announced he's leaving Blizzard to pursue something new.In a blog post, Chu said he pushed for diversity and inclusivity in games, and he hopes to continue to do this in a post-Blizzard career."As an Asian American, I wanted to experience narratives that represented people like me and to see them depicted as heroes. Overwatch offered an opportunity to bring a more inclusive vision of earth to life: a future worth fighting for," Chu said. "Together, we worked, struggled, and shed tears to champion a universe that featured people from across the world, to bring to life the wondrous sights of earth's past, present, and future, and to empower the contributions of creators and voices who would better represent the breadth of human experience. I believed that a game could show the power of diversity and that one kiss could change the world, if only a little."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Mortal Kombat 4, the largely-forgotten follow-up to the frequently re-released Mortal Kombat Trilogy, has returned to sale on GOG. The game, which originally released in 1998 for PC, Nintendo 64, and PlayStation, after an arcade debut in 1997, costs $6 and is DRM-free.The game has been updated to work with modern Windows operating systems, and ports across everything fans will remember from this slightly offbeat entry in the Mortal Kombat series. There are weapons that can be picked up and used, interactive backgrounds, secrets and codes (sorry, "kodes") to enter, and 3D gameplay that lets you move around the arena and dodge attacks like you would in Tekken. How has the game aged, visually? You can judge for yourself from the screenshots below.Mortal Kombat 4 is a divisive game--our original review of the N64 version of the game scored an 8.9/10, and critic Jeff Gerstmann wrote that the game was "an excellent translation of a good arcade title, and fans of the arcade version won't be disappointed at all."Players nostalgic for this fighting game can now revisit it at a low price--although many series fans will likely want to stick with Mortal Kombat 11.Info from Gamespot.com

Polish developer CD Projekt Red's new game, Cyberpunk 2077, has reached another major milestone. Studio boss Adam Badowski announced on Twitter that the game has now been submitted to local ratings groups, including the ESRB in America and PEGI in Europe. As the team waits to see what rating Cyberpunk 2077 receives, it is working on polishing the "technical aspects" of the game. CD Projekt Red is also using the remaining development time on playtesting. "Game is looking better and better with each passing day!" Badowski said.We just submitted @cyberpunkgame to age rating agencies around the world (PEGI, ESRB, etc.). While we wait for the game to get rated, we work on polishing technical aspects and playtesting it. Game is looking better and better with each passing day! — Adam Badowski (@AdamBadowski) March 10, 2020Given what CD Projekt Red has said about Cyberpunk 2077 and shown off thus far, it would seem likely that the game will receive an M rating from the ESRB and PEGI 18 in Europe, and an R18 in Australia. This would be in line with the rating for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was CD Projekt Red's previous big release.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ori and the Blind Forest was a delight in 2015--a tough-as-nails combination of a metroidvania structure and Meat Boy-like demands with a surprising amount of heartfelt heft. Five years later, Moon Studios' followup, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, is every bit as graceful and lovely as its predecessor, even if some of the emotional beats and exploration feel a little less novel the second time around. Will of the Wisps picks up almost immediately where Blind Forest left off, with Ori's patchwork family unit welcoming a new member, the owlet Ku. The family is happy and loving, but Ku wants to fly and Ori wants to help her. Soon the two are swept off in a gale to a new forest deep with rot, which begins the adventure in earnest.Because this setting is disconnected from the one in Blind Forest, the geography is new, yet familiar. The painterly imagery is comforting, especially in the opening hours as you explore similar biomes. They're beautifully rendered again, but a little samey if you've played the first game. After a while, Will of the Wisps opens up to more varied locales, like an almost pitch-black spider's den or a windswept desert. The theme throughout the story is the encroachment of the Decay, a creeping evil that overtook this neighboring forest after its own magical life tree withered. But if it's meant to be ugly, you wouldn't know it from many of the lush backgrounds--especially in the case of a vibrant underwater section. Ori is often swallowed up by these sweeping environments, emphasizing just how small the little forest spirit is compared to their massive surroundings.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Netflix is currently the premiere streaming service for original content. With original programming like Stranger Things, Marriage Story, and The Crown being the talk of the town, earning awards and nominations left and right, the company has cemented itself as a go-to place for high-quality content. However, with its expansion of originals, Netflix has ventured into the realm of trashy reality television, and much of it has been pretty excellent. When I used the term "trashy reality shows," I'm targeting a specific genre at Netflix. I'm not talking about cooking shows like The Chef Show or Ugly Delicious--both of which are high quality in their own rights. There are even game show originals like Nailed It, but that also doesn't fit the mold. I'm specifically talking about series like The Circle and Love Is Blind--two recently released shows that are undoubtedly the epitome of trashy reality TV, and I cannot stop talking about them. For the unfamiliar, The Circle is a game show--based on a British one of the same name--where a group of people live in apartments and can only communicate with each other using a social media platform called "The Circle." Some people play the game as themselves, while others catfish their competitors. Players are voted off--while new ones are added--and eventually, one person will be declared the winner and get a bunch of money.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rocket League is getting a small free update on March 10 across all platforms. The patch will allow users to trade in stacks of Blueprints to get ones of higher rarity, as well as introducing tweaks to the inventory filters system, which should make sorting your accumulated loot just a little easier. The patch also changes the default settings for newcomers to Rocket League, moving the camera a bit further back and reducing the intensity of the shake for many actions, as well as changing the deadzone values a bit. If you prefer the original settings, don't worry, you can access them via the "Legacy" camera preset. This is also the final update for the Mac and Linux versions of Rocket League. Copies purchased will work on Windows 7 or newer, provided you download the Windows version, but the Mac and Linux editions of the game will lose the majority of their functionality, including online play. Customers can request a refund through Steam until June 10, 2020. This change comes due to low player-counts on those versions of the game, according to developer Psyonix, but the decision has caused some controversy within the Rocket League community.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Persona 5 Royal comes with a ton of new features and changes. This includes additions to the story like new characters, social scenarios, an expanded narrative, and a new dungeon/palace. Separate from the main game, however, is the mode called Thieves Den, which I got a look at during my P5R hands-on preview.Thieves Den exists as a sort of museum-like showcase for unlockables including music tracks, cutscenes, and artwork from P5R and the original game. You can also deck out the Thieves Den with decor and assets, from the Metaverse and Velvet Room to Confidants and enemies. You'll also be able to listen to Confidant conversations and even switch character models to roam the Thieves Den. All these rewards have to be unlocked using P Coins you earn from achievements throughout playing P5R or by playing the card game, Tycoon, which is also in the Thieves Den.The Tycoon card game is probably the most exciting part of the Thieves Den. It's a four-player poker-adjacent game where you play against three fellow Phantom Thieves, who are controlled by AI. The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand by placing a card (or poker hand) that's higher than the previous one set down. There are three difficulties to play on, and winning rewards you with P Coins to spend on more unlockables.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

During the mid-90s, Nickelodeon hosted a kids game show which forever changed how we look at shrines made of silver monkeys. The show was called Legends of the Hidden Temple, and it put children through both mental and physical challenges--while scaring them with Temple Guards--in order to take home the grand prize. To the best of my memory, this was usually a trip to Space Camp and a pair of British Knights sneakers. If you're sad you never got to be a contestant on this show, you're in luck. The streaming service Quibi is rebooting it for adults, and you can be on the show.Quibi is promising a "supersized" and "reimagined" version of the show. It will be geared more towards adult audiences who grew up with the original. The upcoming streaming service made a big announcement for the new series in a tweet. We saw you. Dead by Daylight's latest DLC pack, Chains of Hate, is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The expansion includes a new Killer, another Survivor, and a wild west-themed map.The new Killer is known as The Deathslinger, an undead bounty hunter who made a career out of revenge before meeting his bloody demise. He comes equipped with The Redeemer, a heavily modified, hybrid rifle that fires a razor-sharp spear affixed to a chain for reeling in Survivors. Those caught by the chain can struggle to break free or use the environment to pressure the chain to break, stunning The Deathslinger in the process. Doing so will also put the Survivor in the injured state with the Deep Wound status effect applied. In terms of Perks, The Deathslinger can activate Gearhead for a short duration by hitting a Survivor twice with his basic attack. This means that each time a Survivor completes a Good Skill Check while repairing, the generator will be revealed by a yellow aura for as long as it is being repaired. Dead Man's Switch, meanwhile, activates after you become Obsessed with one Survivor. If that Survivor stops repairing a generator before it is fully repaired, this causes The Entity to block the generator until the Dead Man's Switch effect ends. Affected generators are also highlighted by a white aura. And last but not least, Hex: Retribution occurs whenever a Survivor cleanses a Dull Totem, causing them to briefly suffer from the Oblivious status effect. If any Hex Totem is cleansed, including this one, the auras of all Survivors are revealed for a short time.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
