2020 is a huge year for Xbox, as Microsoft is releasing the Xbox Series X with Halo Infinite as a launch title later this year. Or at least that's the plan. While Microsoft has already confirmed multiple times that the Xbox Series X will release on schedule amid the COVID-19 crisis, Halo Infinite's status is less clear. In a blog post, the development team at 343 Industries shied away from confirming anything about a release date for Halo Infinite. For now, the game remains on schedule to launch this holiday, though the way in which developers at 343 Industries work on the project has changed substantially."We're removing all the obstacles in our path and tracking well, but need to be mindful of our current limitations and understand that the coronavirus situation may get worse before it gets better," 343 said in the post. "Rest assured that every single one of us is doing everything in our power to continue developing and delivering quality Halo experiences while we adjust to this new way of life."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos has confirmed what we all suspected--lots of people are streaming movies and TV right now. In an interview with CNN's Reliable Sources, Sarandos talked about all the ways the COVID-19 (coronavirus) has affected the streaming giant, both good and bad. While streams are up from those stuck at home, production of new content has been majorly disrupted. "Every one of our productions around the world are shut down,” Sarandos said. “I believe that's unprecedented in history." This includes some of Netflix's biggest-name productions like The Witcher and Stranger Things. Those watching at home don’t have to worry about a sudden lack of content, however. Netflix’s business model means most shows are produced far ahead of release, and shows that drop all at once won’t be affected by mid-season production halts--though new content drops may start to slow down if the situation stretches on through the year. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has tracked the best ever launch numbers in physical sales for a Switch game in the UK. The initial sales for Nintendo's latest big game are the system's best ever, unless you count Pokemon Sword/Shield as a single game and combine their sales.GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that the launch sales numbers for the latest Animal Crossing in the UK are higher than the launch sales of every previous Animal Crossing game--including spin-offs like Happy Home Designer--combined. Although exact numbers are not given for individual games, New Horizons led in a week where 475,000 physical games were sold. It's worth noting that these figures do not include digital sales at all, which likely drive New Horizons' total sales much, much higher.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Mortal Kombat, also known as Mortal Kombat 9, is no longer available for purchase digitally on Steam. As VG247 has reported, the game's Steam page states that the Komplete Edition--the only edition available for sale digitally--was removed from sale "at the request of the publisher."While it's not entirely clear why this has happened, VG247 speculates that its removal may have something to do with the rights to Freddy Krueger, who appears as a fighter in the Komplete Edition. As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the rights to the character reverted back to Wes Craven's estate in 2019, and thus his appearance in the game might need to be re-negotiated.As of right now, the game is still available for digital purchase on PlayStation 3, but not on Xbox 360. It's unclear whether this is set to change, or whether there are plans to return the game to Steam or other digital stores in the future.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's always interesting to see what a creator does next after their hit series ends. Tite Kubo, the author of Bleach, took the route of publishing a 2018 one-shot, Burn The Witch, and set the new story in an extension of the Bleach universe. Burn The Witch casts two witches, Noel Niihashi and Spangle Ninii, as the protagonists, and they work for the Western Branch of Soul Society in Reverse London. It was recently announced that Burn The Witch will receive an anime film adaptation this fall, and a new teaser trailer was released on March 20. Studio Colorido will produce the film, and director Tatsuro Kawano will helm it. Burn The Witch will also get a short run in Weekly Shonen Jump at some point during the summer. You can read the Burn The Witch one-shot for free on Viz Media's website. Also, if you've missed the chatter on Twitter, Bleach's Thousand-Year Blood War arc is finally getting an anime adaptation. The Thousand-Year Blood War arc features Ichigo and the gang (the entire Soul Society and a few Espadas, actually) facing off against another megalomaniac villain. This time, it's Yhwach, the founder of the Quincys and son of the Soul King.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ghost in the Shell has received multiple spin-offs and adaptations, almost too many to keep track of, but Netflix's upcoming Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will be a visually memorable one. Matoko Kusanagi is still the protagonist, but she's CGI-ed. And of course, everything else is CGI'ed too.The CGI style is not surprising since Netflix has pushed a variety of CGI shows in their original anime programming. (Beastars and Leviathan are two examples.) But to apply CGI to a classic like Ghost in the Shell and an iconic character like Matoko Kusanagi is a striking decision on Production I.G. and Sola Digital Art's parts.SAC_2045 will also still follow the exploits of Public Security Section 9. In the final trailer (and past trailers), it appears the Major and her team's mission is to take down a guy who's a "post-human" and an organization with a thirst for anarchy. Tonally, the final trailer suggests that the show won't carry the grittiness and quiet unease of previous entries in the franchise. The soundtrack is upbeat, colors bright, and the characters, as pointed out by the video comments, look younger than the originals.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Activision Blizzard remastered the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2017, and the company appears primed to give its sequel the same makeover treatment. The South Korean ratings board has apparently leaked the game. The Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) site has a listing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, registered on February 26. Given the name, this is just a remaster of the campaign, not the multiplayer. Modern Warfare Remastered did include its own game's multiplayer with new tweaks and achievements. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be missing from the final MW2 Remastered product, though, as that listing could simply be separate.None of this is to be confused with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the relaunch of the Modern Warfare series that released last year. That's currently getting a ton of ongoing content with ongoing seasons and battle passes. Most recently it added the battle royale Warzone, which is free to all players regardless of whether you own the base game, and gives you the same cosmetic battle pass rewards.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

March 20 marked the launches of both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Doom Eternal. They are extremely different games, and it can be difficult to choose which one to play first. 3D animator Andrei Mishanin decided to avoid the decision entirely by putting them together in a roaring metal music video.DOOMANIMAL stars the Animal Crossing cast as they headbang and rock out to Doom music. Isabelle is on drums, slamming the kit as hard as her little paws manage before delivering an incredible fill. The guitars rage, the bass grooves, and Tom Nook stands in the background playing his synthesizer as he plots how to take his bandmates' money from them. They aren't playing for an empty theater, either, as an audience of villagers has formed a rave. It's the perfect show to attend before diving into the demon-slaughtering action of Doom Eternal, though it's a little intense to watch before playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
