Holmgang: Memories of the Forgotten is a new game coming from Spanish developer Zerouno Games, made up of former creatives from 343 Industries, Rockstar, and Mercury Steam. You'll journey across diverse lands and fight off monsters pulled from different forms of real-world mythologies in this action-adventure game that takes cues from Dead Cells and the 2018 God of War reboot. It's a cool premise, and the creators are looking to crowdfunding to see the game to its finish. The game is just planned for release on PC at this time, but there are plans for stretch goals that would see the game releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Before the game's debut on Kickstarter on March 24, GameSpot got an early look of Holmgang in action, showing off its retro-inspired combat and vibrant, cell-shaded aesthetic. Set in the world of Dracorum, you play as three heroes who must band together to fight the evil Emperor Hazulem and his army. With the three heroes--Tatsu the samurai-inspired warrior, Valentina the amazonian brawler, and Kandar the viking--you'll explore different regions, take on quests, and gradually expand the trio's strength to face off against new threats. The game, which initially began as a student project known as Memories of the Forgotten, eventually grew out into a more realized game once the creatives from the different studios formed Zerouno Games. According to the Kickstarter, Mercury Steam's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow games served as a big inspiration, with the game designer--Víctor Cerezo--helping to form Zerouno Games in the years since its release.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Knives Out was a favorite film of many in 2019, and it earned a lot of praise (and an Oscar nomination) for its script. Now, with the film out on digital services and DVD, director and writer Rian Johnson has released the film's shooting script for fans to pore over and enjoy. The script is available on Rian Johnson's website, along with the scripts for most of his other films. As Johnson says on Twitter, "All previous scripts that don't involve outer space are up there too" (his Star Wars: The Last Jedi script is not available). Johnson's other films include Brick, Looper, and The Brothers Bloom. Brick is also available as a novella. This is the shooting draft, which means it's the "final" script. Johnson is a very well-regarded screenwriter, so for writers this script provides some valuable insight into what his work looks like. The DVD and Blu-Ray of Knives Out also come with multiple special features, including all the film's deleted scenes. This script contains scenes that did not make it into the final film.We have not seen the last of the Knives Out universe, with Johnson currently planning a sequel. He's also scheduled to eventually create a new Star Wars trilogy. Info from Gamespot.com

Gennifer Hutchison, who is known for her work on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul and is currently one of the writers on Amazon's Lord of the Rings TV show, has shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes insight on her process. In a Twitter Q&A, Hutchison spoke about a number of key topics in the writing field, one of which was writing for fans. Lord of the Rings has one of the biggest fandoms in all of entertainment, and from the sound of it, Hutchison and her team want to "subvert expectations." To be fair, Hutchison is speaking generally about her writing process, so her response may not be specific to Lord of the Rings, but it's an interesting response all the same."Every fan is different. There is no universal fan expectation of anything," Hutchison said. "Some fans are just louder. So you have to go with the story you feel is best, that people will love even if it isn't what they thought they wanted. And yeah, you want to subvert expectations."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It may seem like a bad time to be the developer of a game that requires players to get outside and wander the streets, but Niantic has been remarkably quick at adapting to the situation.Niantic has already added other bonuses to make playing Pokemon Go at home easier, such as boosting the time Incense is active and increasing the number of Pokemon it attracts.Updates have also been added to the new Go Battle League, removing the requirement to walk a certain number of steps to unlock new battle tracks. One of the major features in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is crafting, and there are quite a few resources you can use to DIY. Because of that, you might find your pockets fill up really quickly, which can be a challenge early on as you're pulling weeds, catching fish and bugs, picking fruit, and accumulating random items along the way. Luckily, you can increase your inventory space twice and end up with double what you had at the start. You'll find both upgrades at the Nook Stop machine in Resident Services, each of which you can redeem for Nook Miles. The first one is available from the beginning of the game and costs 5,000 Nook Miles; we recommend paying off your first loan to Tom Nook before spending any Nook Miles on pocket space, though, because having a house will trigger more progress around your island and grants you in-home storage space for stuff you don't want to carry around. The first pocket upgrade will add a third row for a total of 30 slots. The second pocket upgrade isn't available until you upgrade the Resident Services tent to a full building. Once the Resident Services building is open, there will be new rewards you can get using Nook Miles at the Nook Stop machine; among these is the final pocket upgrade, which costs 8,000 Nook Miles. This will give you four rows of inventory space, or 40 slots.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Half-Life: Alyx has 41 achievements you can get just by reaching certain key points in the game, completing routine tasks, or by pulling off something special. There are even a couple secret ones that are harder to get, including a few we don't quite know the solution for yet. Here we'll break down all 41 Half-Life: Alyx achievements (well, most of them), their official descriptions on Steam, and how to get them. We've broken this guide down into sections: story achievements you are guaranteed to complete just by playing through the game, chapter-exclusive achievements that require you to complete a certain action in that section, easy achievements you can get pretty naturally but are still possible to miss, and special achievements that may require you to pull off something very specific and difficult to do by accident. We've tried to keep this guide as spoiler-free as possible, but if you're afraid of even seeing the names of chapters and implications about the ending from the official Steam achievement descriptions, then stay far away! We've put story achievements, which allude to end-game chapters, at the very end of this guide so it's easy to skip.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Half-Life: Alyx nails so much of what makes the series great, and VR elevates some of its best qualities. But if you're not familiar with the ins-and-outs of VR or the way Half-Life typically does things, we have you covered. Even veterans such as myself wish I knew a few of these tips before playing, such as what weapon upgrades to spend your valuable Resin on, among other things. One aspect you may not be familiar with is how Half-Life tends to do puzzles; there are no waypoints or objective markers, so you need to pay attention to what the environment is telling you. This extends to multitool puzzles and knowing what objects to interact with. If you're concerned about motion sickness or if you have physical limitations, we also have some pointers about your options. We go into more detail about Half-Life: Alyx's accessibility options, and have a deeper dive into solving the different types of puzzles you'll encounter. We also have a comprehensive guide on Half-Life: Alyx's weapons and upgrades, and long-time fans won't want to miss all the Easter eggs we've found so far. Be sure to read our full Half-Life: Alyx review for our thoughts on the series' first game in 13 years.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Batman's composer, Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino, has shared some new insight into what to expect from the much-anticipated DC film. Speaking to Collider, Giacchino said he felt "total freedom" to write whatever music he wanted for the film, because the movie itself is aiming to stand apart from the many that came before it."I felt total freedom to do whatever I want," he said. "[Director Matt Reeves] always agreed, this is our Batman, this is our version. In the same way that I always loved, what I still do about Batman comics and graphic novels, is that each of these artist, each of these authors, they take their own crack at what they want this to be. It's their version of Batman."Giacchino continued: "I'm not the kind of person that says Batman must always be 'this'. It's like no, why? It can be whatever the artist wants to be and it has over the years done that, many times over. I love the idea of taking something and just kind of doing our version of it."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Can you imagine Zombieland without Bill Murray’s cameo? The writers have taken to Twitter to share some of the scenes that could have been if another celebrity were put in Murray’s place, including Patrick Swayze, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Bacon, Mark Hamill, Sylvester Stallone and more.Swayze was actually the original choice, writer Paul Wernick has shared, but the actor’s declining health prevented him from taking the role. The original scene would have featured the potter’s wheel from Ghost, and a dancey fight number with a zombified Swayze set to (you guessed it) I’ve Had The Time Of My Life.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Id Software's return to Doom in 2016 was a phenomenal update of the franchise's classic shooter formula. It was fast and intense, full of huge monsters and scorching metal tracks, modernizing the feel of the 1990s original while adding some new-school flourishes. Where Doom 2016 brought the original Doom into the present, Doom Eternal feels like a big step forward in making the franchise something new: It's a master class in demon dismemberment after the introductory course to ripping and tearing of four years ago. Like its predecessor, Doom Eternal makes you feel like a monster-shredding badass--not just because you're the strongest Doom Slayer, but because you're also the smartest.Doom Eternal is all about effectively using the huge amount of murder tools at your disposal. Health, armor, and ammo pickups are at a minimum in Eternal's many combat arenas, and the game instead requires you to earn these by massacring monsters in a variety of different ways. Stagger an enemy and you can tear them apart with a brutal glory kill, which refills your health; douse a demon with the new flamethrower and they'll start to spout armor pickups; or cut them in half with the chainsaw to grab some much-needed ammo.In order to stay alive, you can't just run around blasting madly, expecting to tear through everything in your path; you have to run around blasting rationally to keep yourself at fighting strength. Keeping all your numbers up means continually rotating through your glory, chainsaw, and flamethrower kills while also making sure you're using the right gun for a particular job. Many of the toughest enemies now have weak points that allow you to snipe off their most lethal weapons, and you'll need to assess threats and knock them out quickly.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
