In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is shutting down numerous annual events and postponing movies all over the globe, many have been wondering whether or not San Diego's annual Comic-Con will meet that same fate. Now, Comic-Con International, the company behind the convention has announced that SDCC 2020 will be cancelled this year, returning in 2021."Comic-Con International (CCI) is officially cancelling the 2020 San Diego Comic-Con, marking the first time in 50 years that the show will not go on," Comic-Con Museum said in a press release. "It is the right thing to do. Comic-Con wants to do all we can to fight the spread of this virus and support workers who are on the front line, fighting this battle."CCI was monitoring the situation in California, with the hopes of the event happening, if by chance the pandemic had come to an end. "Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for its conventions each year, and how many exhibitors and stakeholders rely upon its events for a major portion of their livelihood, they had hoped to delay this decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by summer," Comic-Con International (CCI) explained in a statement. "Continuous monitoring of health advisories and recent statements by the Governor of California have made it clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans for this year."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's a good week to own one of Nvidia's RTX graphics cards, especially with the ray-tracing showcase that is Minecraft RTX going into open beta. The RTX range and its AI computing capabilities can be used for a lot more than just games though, and RTX Voice is a good example of that.In beta now, RTX Voice is a new plugin that leverages the AI processing power of the RTX line to accurately remove background noise from any microphone recordings. This can be something as subtle as your keyboard strokes to more prominent ambient noise present in your computing space. While useful for streaming games, RTX Voice is also compatible with productivity and video conferencing software, making it more broadly appealing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The plugin creates a virtual audio device in Windows that can then be set as your primary input device. RTX Voice processes the audio from your microphone and removes noise in real time, injecting it into whatever app points to the new virtual source. While apps like Discord, OBS, and XSplit work with the plugin already, Nvidia says compatibility with Slack, Zoom, and more is possible. They're supported for now, but might still have a few issues. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake makes some changes to the original, mainly by filling in subtle character details and story gaps. One of the bigger changes is to the villainous Sephiroth, who appears much earlier than he did in the original. In an interview on the Square Enix blog, producer Yoshinori Kitase explained the rationale behind the change."The way we handled Sephiroth in the original Final Fantasy VII was to hide him--hold him back," Kitase said. "You may not know this, but I was inspired by the movie Jaws which took a similar approach of teasing this powerful presence, but never fully showing you the shark until later in the story. We wanted to build him up as this really big, powerful character in people's minds. By only referring to him indirectly, it created this feeling of fear and oppression--so when he makes his first appearance, it's a big deal."But, Kitase explained, Sephiroth has become too well-known nowadays. His iconic status means using that same approach of holding him back isn't as effective as a storytelling mechanic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Apex Legends' Season 4: Assimilation is scheduled to end on May 5 and Respawn has possibly already started hinting at what's coming in Season 5 with small in-game map changes. The latest map change includes an Easter egg to Titanfall 2's most infamous level--which makes sense, since Respawn said Apex Legends Season 5 would have a "pleasant surprise" for Titanfall fans.If you go to The Dome on World's Edge, you can now discover a mysterious datapad in one of the main buildings. If you look at it before picking it up, you'll notice it grants access to something having to do with the ARES Division. Picking it up briefly flashes a message across the screen, which reads that there are more sub-level rooms to discover and the entry point seems to be Singh Labs. Reddit user HIRUZENandENMA was the first to find the datapad and reveal the full message--their post is embedded below.I found an easter egg of ARES division from Titanfall in Dome. It seems to be related to the Singh Labs in Kings Canyon but i have no idea what it activates. from r/apexlegendsSo how does this tie back into Titanfall? The Archaeological RESearch Division (ARES) is a part of the IMC, first encountered in-game during Titanfall 2's memorable Effect And Cause level, which takes place on the planet Typhon. ARES was attempting to fix the Fold Weapon, an alien technology that could bend time and space, in order to use it as a planet killer. You destroy it in Titanfall 2, but Apex Legends has long since hinted that people have continued the work that ARES started.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

On Wednesday, April 15, WWE laid off multiple WWE Superstars. The names were released and/or leaked to the public in a slow trickle over the course of the day. Unlike several WWE producers who were furloughed, the 22 WWE Superstars were "future endeavored" and will need to find other employment. The current COVID-19 pandemic precipitated these cuts. Typically, WWE makes a bulk of its monthly revenue on live arena shows. In the wake of the pandemic, the company has been forced to cancel and refund its upcoming live events. Since March 13, WWE has been broadcasting Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and even Wrestlemania 36 from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, with no audience. In an April 15 press release, WWE announced a "headcount reduction" due to COVID-19 and "current government mandated impacts" on WWE. The company also announced it would be reducing executive and board member compensation; decreasing operating expenses; cutting talent expenses, third party staffing and consulting; and deferring spending on building the company's new headquarters. WWE estimates the company will save $4 million from releasing and furloughing employees and cutting their compensations.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fantasy Island was a cheesy TV series from the '70s and '80s about people visiting a private island where all their dreams could come true, within reason. Earlier this year, Blumhouse reimagined the show as a horror movie with the "be careful what you wish for" theme. Now, the movie is available digitally, and it's loaded with special features, including a really weird deleted scene. In the scene titled "Death Do Us Part," Brax Weaver (Jimmy O. Yang) finds himself in an underground cavern with his brother JD (Ryan Hansen), and the two stumble upon an empty wedding procession with only a corpse bride standing by the alter, which turns out to be Jenni--JD's ex, a very briefly mentioned character from his past. Brax then gets to put a ring on Jenni in a cringe-inducing moment, as it slides up her bloodied finger.Luckily, the bizarre scene also features commentary from Fantasy Island director, producer, and co-writer Jeff Wadlow. Warning, there are a few spoilers for the movie ahead.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
