Beyond the reef, the shelf drops away into the turquoise haze of the open ocean. I find myself surrounded by golden-peaked pillars aglow with the shimmering petals of sunlit life. Bright green webs of twisted tendrils extend from pillar to pillar, forming a writhing network of bridges for the feathery, fern-like creatures who patrol and maintain them. It's a spectacular, awe-inspiring scene. Yet it exists mostly in my imagination, its wonder shaped by a handful of single-sentence descriptions and a simple two-colour contour map. In Other Waters does so much with seemingly so little, emerging as a masterclass in prudent, minimalist storytelling.Dr. Ellery Vas is a xenobiologist following in the wake of her partner who disappeared while researching extraterrestrial life on the ocean planet Gliese 667Cc. Stationed at her partner's abandoned lab and equipped with an AI-controlled diving suit, Vas explores the depths in search of answers. In a disarming inversion of the typical human-AI relationship, you play the AI; Vas sets the objectives, often conferring with you, but it's your job to plot her course, gather samples, and run tests back in the lab.The setup allows Vas room to breathe as a character. As you guide her maritime expedition, she provides intermittent narration. She pauses to marvel at new sights, thinks out loud as she works through possible theories, and occasionally confides in you her doubts and fears. Conversation may be sparse, and your ability to respond is limited to the odd yes or no answer, yet it's perhaps all the more affecting because of it. The two of you are strangers at the outset, but Vas' wariness at revealing her innermost thoughts to an AI gradually washes away as she realises, despite your reticence, that you understand her predicament--in the process unearthing a memorably multi-layered character. It's a friendship forged in aquatic isolation, one quiet line at a time.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Resident Evil 3 Remake surpassed an impressive sales milestone after only five days on sale, and there are potentially more Resident Evil remakes on the way. For all of the franchise's success, however, there's another survival horror series that Capcom continues to leave in the dark. Dino Crisis hasn't been heard from since 2003 when Dino Crisis 3 was released, and fans are clearly itching for some more dino-related horror. The Dino Evil 3 mod turns Resident Evil 3's shuffling zombies into roaming dinosaurs. There's only one type of dino so far, which looks like a miniature Tyrannosaurus Rex with an oversized head, but it's not bad for version 0.1. A similar mod was created for the Resident Evil 2 Remake that added costumes and skins related to the series, including red-headed protagonist Regina. There were no dinosaurs, though, so this Resident Evil 3 mod bridges that gap.Changing the zombie's animations to fit their new Jurassic form does come with an unintended side effect whereby the T-Rex will occasionally get stuck in rooms. Nemesis is also absent when using this mod, so it's not yet ideal in this early state. If only Capcom would return to the series itself. Who doesn't want a Dino Crisis remake?Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you've dreamed of using Mario's hat Cappy to pilot the out-of-place dinosaur from that one cave level of Super Mario 64, we have good news for you. The well-known Nintendo 64 modder Kaze Emanuar has released a project titled Super Mario Odyssey 64 that recreates many of the locales and mechanics of the Switch game, including using Cappy to control enemies, as well as a very polygonal Bowser in a top hat.According to a trailer, the mod features 80 moons to collect in total. It's only playable through an N64 emulator, and the process requires using a tool to patch a ROM of Super Mario 64. Though it's currently available for download, Nintendo is famously vigilant in sending cease-and-desist letters to force fan-projects based on their properties to shut down, so interested parties might want to download it sooner rather than later. Pokemon Uranium and Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R) are two of the most notable projects to receive such treatment from Nintendo's legal team.If you can't get enough Super Mario 64, you might be able to play it along with Odyssey on your Switch. According to reports, Nintendo's latest console will soon get remastered versions of classic Mario games, including 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Mario Galaxy. In other news, a rom-hacker named Ryan Bloom noticed that Super Mario 64's smoke effect has been bugged for 24 years.Info from Gamespot.com

Niantic's AR-enabled games like Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite have encouraged gamers to meet up in-person for years now, but that's not exactly possible for everyone during a global pandemic. As part of ongoing efforts to alleviate this issue, Niantic has introduced the Knight Bus to Wizards Unite.According to the post announcing it, the Knight Bus will bring players to a special Fortress at Hogwarts Castle that functions similarly to the Fortresses that you would find just walking around. Fortresses are Wizard Unite's equivalent of Pokemon Go's raids, where multiple players team up to take on challenges and earn loot. Players summon the Knight Bus via a button on the game's map, and it's only available to those who are level 7 or above. Though it's not currently live, the post suggests it will begin rolling out to players soon. It's also a permanent addition to the game. "We hope this new feature will come to the aid of players and help them get back into one of their favourite aspects of the game from the safety of their homes," a portion of the post reads. This change follows an update for Wizards Unite that aimed to adjust some of its gameplay elements in response to the coronavirus crisis. Previously, Niantic had announced a schedule of live meet-up events for Wizards Unite, Pokemon Go, and Ingress, but it's unlikely that those events will proceed in the current climate.Info from Gamespot.com

A slew of additions are coming to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, including multiplayer playlist updates, new game modes, and more.Developer Infinity Ward shared a lengthy blog post announcing various updates coming to Modern Warfare, and the first is a change to the game's playlist. Starting this week, players can take part in the new Cabin Fever moshpit that features tons of "medium-sized 6v6 multiplayer action" on maps like Hackney Yard, Hideout, Rust, Shipment, and Shoot House. Cabin Fever will be comprised of both deathmatch and objective-based game mode, Infinity Ward said. Also in Modern Warfare is the return of the multiplayer game mode Cranked and the introduction of Gunfight Trios Tournaments.
