One of the tougher boss fights you'll encounter in Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the Hell House during Chapter 9. If you're not up coming into this one prepared, you're likely to get wiped quick. Below we detail everything you need to know about how to defeat this seemingly sentient house. For more boss tactics, check out our FF7 Remake boss guide. Otherwise, be sure to check out our FF7 Remake walkthrough and guide roundup. How To Defeat The Hell HouseThe Hell House is a tough fight, so make sure you're prepared. Spread magic materia between Cloud and Aerith so you have spells covering all four elements: Ice, Fire, Wind, and Lightning. It's also a good idea to remove Elemental materia from your weapons for this fight. You need a balance of elements because the Hell House will constantly change its elemental affinity, using a barrier that will defend it from your attacks. That means that if you're using Elemental materia and the wrong barrier is up, your physical attacks will be useless, putting you at a big disadvantage. You also want to bring plenty of ethers to this fight.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Combat rarely lasts longer than a handful of rounds in the newest XCOM. In each encounter, XCOM: Chimera Squad kicks in the door, dives headfirst into an intense firefight, then walks out through a pile of bodies a minute or two later, dusting themselves down, a little scarred perhaps but eager to do it all again in the very next mission. XCOM’s turn-based tactical combat now comes in condensed form, relieved of extraneous matter, and for the most part all the better for it.Assuming the human resistance triumphed in XCOM 2, the eponymous Chimera Squad is a special task force composed of human and alien soldiers that also serves as a symbol of a newfound cooperation between species. Dissidents remain, however, and so when the mayor of City 31 is killed in a terrorist attack, it's up to the Squad to track down those responsible. The stakes feel a lot lower than the global emergencies gripping previous XCOMs, yet the smaller scale of the situation dovetails perfectly with the tight-knit group of characters under your control and intimacy of the tactical maps on which they’re deployed. There’s a focus and clarity of purpose here that stands in sharp relief to the sprawling saga of a typical XCOM campaign.Indeed, Chimera Squad feels like it spins the Geoscape and puts just one city under the microscope. Nine districts comprise the strategic map, each day highlighting a few of them with new missions to undertake--some advancing the story, others providing valuable resources and gear. Ignoring one mission in favour of another will raise the level of unrest in the neglected district and contribute to a citywide measure of anarchy that spells game over if it tops out. Despite the lower stakes, there’s still an urgency to your mission, especially as the doomsday clock of city anarchy ticks closer to midnight. And the strategic layer does a decent job of forcing decisions over which missions and districts you need to prioritise, even if it’s mostly a dry game of resource allocation that fails to evoke any kind of emotional response to the lives sacrificed along the way.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

After the revelation at the end of Season 1 that Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) is a descendent of famed vampire hunter Van Helsing, What We Do in the Shadows is ready to take that character arc to the next level. In the third episode of Season 2, "Brain Scramblies," Guillermo made some new friends that could pose quite a bit of danger to his vampire masters."He's looking for virgins, and he's run out of other groups that he thinks will have a lot of them so he goes to a meeting of the Staten Island Mosquito Collectors," executive producer Paul Simms explained to GameSpot and other outlets during a visit to the set of the show. "And once they ask him some questions, they reveal that there are actually a bunch of vampire hunters, and that's their cover."This group of vampire hunters is led by a man named Derek, played by The Office alum Craig Robinson. Speaking to GameSpot, Robinson described the character as a "militant mosquito hunter," adding, "He's all about shutting down the vampire nation."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While everyone is practicing social distancing due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan uploaded a new developer update from his cell phone discussing some incoming changes. This includes an "improved" communication wheel, adjusting queue times, and more. The headlining feature is a new, customizable communication wheel. Kaplan noticed that players wanted to say things such as "Goodbye" and "Fall Back" to teammates while in-game. With the improved communication wheel, you will be able to customize the responses based on an expanded preset list. All of these new responses are voiced by the characters. Also baked into the improved communication wheel is the ability to slot the "Sorry" command into every character's response list, including the game's newest hero Echo. "A lot of you have asked for that level of customization in the communication wheel, and we think it will be really powerful for you," Kaplan said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is full of small choices that can affect your overall experience in a bunch of subtle ways. Sometimes these choices add to a behind-the-scenes tally that changes which characters show up for specific story moments. Other times, the changes are more obvious, like when you choose between taking the elevator or the stairs in Shinra Tower in Chapter 16. Like the original FF7, your route gives you a slightly different experience. Here's what you need to know about the choice between the elevator and the stairs in Shinra Tower, what you're missing depending on your choice, and how you can see both sides of the coin.Should You Pick The Elevator Or The Stairs? The choice between taking the elevator and the stairs echoes a similar one from the original Final Fantasy 7. In that game, taking the elevator was more convenient, but also forced you into additional battles with Shinra troops as you approached the top floors. The stairs were a safer alternative, but you had to run up all 60 flights; the upshot was, you got an elixir midway through.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When do you know an online game has truly died? Maybe you've returned to an old favorite after a few months off, only to find that all of your usual playmates have moved onto the next big thing. While it can be upsetting in the moment, it reflects an uncomfortable truth: Besides a handful of true outliers, even an outstanding traditional multiplayer game has a finite lifespan--sometimes measured in mere months. As popular forever-games like Destiny 2 continue to soak up the playtime at the very top of the industry, the average life expectancy of less-mainstream multiplayer offerings has dwindled. In the last two years alone, several large publishers have unleashed a tidal wave of hype and marketing for projects that failed to live up to expectations, such as Valve's doomed card game Artifact, or BioWare's Iron Man fantasy simulator Anthem. But while most gamers have at least heard of these high-profile flops, there are dozens of multiplayer also-rans that don't make much of an impression on launch day. From losers of the now-forgotten MOBA wars like Magicka: Wizard Wars to virtual card battlers like Might & Magic: Duel of Champions, simply put, some of these games fail so hard that no one even realizes that they failed at all. However, while these games never quite gathered the critical mass of players that their publishers so desired, most of them do boast a devoted fanbase. So when a large company like Ubisoft looks at a niche card game like Duel of Champions and decides to shut its servers down, that leaves a substantial number of fans in the lurch--locked out of their favorite game, permanently. While many might just dismiss this as the unfortunate fate that will eventually befall almost every multiplayer game out there, there might be a solution to these fans' woes. Unbeknownst to most of us, there are modders who specialize in bringing dead multiplayer games back to life. Ranging from singular hobbyists who just want a beloved favorite to rise from its grave, to non-gamer engineers who delight in the technical challenge that these projects present, you can find them if you know where to look.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Steam's weekend sales have been particularly good for indie games recently. Last weekend, Devolver Digital hosted a great publisher sale, and this weekend Annapurna Interactive is offering a bunch of games from its library at steep discounts. The sale includes Annapurna's indie darlings like What Remains of Edith Finch as well as games from other indie developers such as Gone Home and Hyper Light Drifter. The weekend sale runs until April 27, so make sure to pick up everything you have your eye on before it ends. What Remains of Edith Finch, an adventure game in the vein of Gone Home, is on sale for $8 (was $20). The titular Finch returns to her childhood home to uncover the family curse that has plagued her family for three generations. Poignant writing and wonderfully-varied environments earned the game a 9/10 in GameSpot's What Remains of Edith Finch review. Speaking of Gone Home, it's also on sale for 50% off at $7.49 (was $15), and its follow-up, Tacoma, is $10 (was $20).A pair of wildly different puzzle games, Donut County and Gorogoa, are 50% off as well. Donut County is like Katamari Damacy, but instead of gradually making a ball larger, you work to make a hole big enough to swallow cars and buildings. Gorogoa, meanwhile, is a panel puzzle game with an emotional story that is told through its stirring hand-drawn images.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Week 10's challenges have arrived in Fortnite. This week introduces the second set of Midas' Mission challenges, and of course, one of them revolves around gold. Specifically, you'll need to search five different golden pipe wrenches. If you're not sure where those are located, we've put together this guide showing you where to go.Where Are The Golden Pipe Wrench Locations? As the challenge states, there are five golden pipe wrenches to search. These are scattered all around the island, but they're fittingly all located by areas with some kind of pipework. This somewhat narrows down the areas you need to search, but the wrenches will likely still be tough to find, so we've outlined their locations below:Fortnite golden pipe wrench locationsOn top of Lockie's Lighthouse in C1In front of the pipe statue in B6At the Pipeman landmark in D8Outside of Steamy Stacks in H2Western side of Dirty Docks in H4How To Complete The ChallengeOnce you know where the golden wrenches are, all you need to do is make your way to each one and search them. Fortunately, unlike the Week 10 challenge to visit Greasy Graves, Hayman, and The Agency, you don't need to search all five in a single round, so you can chip away at this challenge over the course of several challenges.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
