There have been plenty of bad superhero movies, but it would be difficult to find one that went down in flames in a more spectacularly public way than the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot. The night before the film hit theaters, director Josh Trank, who was a hot commodity at the time thanks to the success of his first film, Chronicle, took to Twitter to explain that the final version of the film had little to do with his vision."A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would've received great reviews. You'll probably never see it. That's reality though," the tweet read.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

THQ Nordic and Koch Media have just undertaken an unusual transaction, trading IP rights with one another for several largely-dormant franchises. Think of it as being like two teams in your sport of choice trading players in the off-season--or, to use the analogy THQ Nordic used on Twitter, like a Pokemon trade.THQ Nordic has acquired the publishing rights to Sacred, Risen, Rush for Berlin, Second Sight, and Singles: Flirt Up Your Life as part of the deal. In return, Koch Media has received the publishing rights to Painkiller and Red Faction. These agreements cover the whole franchises.THQ Nordic trades Painkiller & Red Faction for Koch Media's Sacred, Risen, Rush for Berlin, Second Sight & Singles: Flirt Up Your Life! Koch waves farewell as their IPs are transferred. „Take good care of them!“#THQNordic #KochMedia pic.twitter.com/HLVmXJXY9K — THQ Nordic (@THQNordic) May 5, 2020There's a mix here of franchises and one-offs--Second Sight, Singles: Flirt Up Your Life and Rush for Berlin never received sequels, and were all published in 2006 or earlier. The second installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope, is on its way, and developer Supermassive Games has released a dev diary to explain the game's influences and how things have changed since the previous game, Man of Medan. The video features new gameplay footage and is narrated by Pete Samuels, the CEO of Supermassive games and the director of The Dark Pictures. He says that Little Hope has similarities and differences from Man of Medan, explaining that the game will follow a group of five students who become trapped in the abandoned town of Little Hope by a "dense and mysterious fog".The game is inspired by the Andover and Salem Witch Trials, as well as movies like The Witch and Blair Witch. Other inspirations cited include Silent Hill (hence the thick fog) and The Omen--in fact, that studio where the game is being worked on is apparently within walking distance of the cathedral used for Richard Donner's 1976 film. The video gets into how the in-game costumes were designed, and explains some of the improvements being made after feedback Man of Medan attracted. You'll have stronger camera control this time, and a greater range of walk speeds, so you won't be forced to move very slowly at all times. The controls and interface have been reworked a bit based on feedback, and there will be more context for your interactions with environmental objects.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fortunately for those of us who are spending more time inside these days, the past month or so has been an excellent period for new game releases. One of the best PS4 games released recently is Persona 5 Royal, an enhanced version of the acclaimed 2017 JRPG. Persona 5 Royal released March 31 for PS4, and if you're a fan of the original game but held off on buying P5R at launch, you can currently snag it for a nice discount on Amazon. The standard edition is priced at $60 regularly, but right now you can grab a copy of Persona 5 Royal for just $49.94 at Amazon. This is the base game, not the steelbook launch edition (which is sold out on Amazon), but this is still the best price we've seen on the game since launch. The listing says the standard edition will be in stock on May 10, so you can expect your copy to ship around then. Thankfully, that means you don't have too much longer to wait before you can dive in.Persona 5 Royal is the "definitive version of a modern classic," as editor Michael Higham wrote in his Persona 5 Royal review, which scored the game a rare 10/10 (the original earned a 9/10 back in 2017). If you're new to Persona 5, this is absolutely the version to buy even though it's more expensive than the original version. And if you've already played and loved Persona 5, P5R makes it worth revisiting, especially while it's on sale.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nintendo appears to have suffered a massive data breach. Over 2 terabytes' worth of internal data has reportedly been leaked online, including source code and documentation for the Wii and other consoles, early N64 tech demos, and more.As summarized on ResetEra, the leak originated on 4chan and contains "full source code, design files, documentation and pretty much everything used to create" the Wii. The data was reportedly accessed from the servers of BroadOn, a company with which Nintendo worked to develop the Wii hardware.Among the leaked articles is an internal presentation that illustrates why Nintendo chose to use friend codes for Wii instead of usernames. According to the presentation, usernames were not "simple" enough because of the high probability of duplicate usernames, which would require players to go through multiple attempts to create one that had not yet been claimed.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
