It's exciting every time a new console generation comes around, and this time is no different. 2020 marks the release of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and the consoles are arriving in an interesting time with the COVID-19 global pandemic impacting some release plans. For now at least, Sony and Microsoft remain committed to launching their new systems this year, and they haven't given any indication that release dates are being bumped to account for supply shortages or disruptions. That means there will also need to be a lineup of new games, as some of Sony's major upcoming games are still coming to the PS4 and could skip the PS5, at least at launch. Sony said in May that it plans to announce the launch lineup for PS5 "soon," presumably over the summer as we learn more about the console's design, as well. Major third-party games like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty are also likely to hit the PS5 at launch.Sony's PS5 features some exciting new technology, including an SSD that dramatically improves load times, among other elements that promise to improve the fidelity of games. There is also a new DualSense controller that uses haptic feedback to help connect you with games at a deeper level. It's all very exciting, and some of the technology is even beyond what high-end PC systems can do. The technology is being backed up with impressive software, including Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5. This new engine was demonstrated in May 2020 and features new lighting and geometry systems that can make games look more realistic than ever before. In this post we're rounding up all the confirmed PlayStation 5 games, and also denoting the titles that we think, or are assumed to, release on the next-generation system. This list covers the new games that will be released on PlayStation 5. The console will automatically play the "overwhelming majority" the PS4 games you may already own, since it is backwards compatible with that console.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima has been a long time coming. The game was officially revealed at Paris Games Week in 2017, but development on the project began shortly after the release of Infamous: First Light in 2014. The studio has been working on the game for close to six years, a development cycle that almost encapsulates the PlayStation 4's entire lifespan. Whether by design or by fortuity, Sucker Punch showed off what Sony's console could do in its infancy and now is poised to show how far it has come in its maturation. The game they've made to show off that growth is, in the team's own words, more ambitious than anything Sucker Punch has done before. Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world, stealth action game that draws its inspiration from classical samurai cinema, but also looks to tell a grounded, poignant story about struggling against oppressors and the extreme lengths a person will go to in order to preserve their culture and community.Ahead of Ghost of Tsushima's release on July 17, we talked to creative director Nate Fox about the studio's journey, the inspirations behind the game, and the intricacies of its gameplay.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fans of the Back to the Future movie franchise were in a bit of an uproar recently when it was discovered the version of Back to the Future: Part II available to stream on Netflix was edited in a way to censor the content. Now, the screenwriter of the film is clearing the air about this cut of the film.Truthfully, the change is small. In the original cut of the film, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) discovered a magazine called Oh La La inside the dustcover of the sports almanac he was searching for. In the version of the movie originally uploaded to Netflix, Marty still thumbs through the pages. However, the cover is not shown. The original cut is now available. According to Bob Gale, who wrote all three films in the franchise, it's not the streaming service's fault.Hey @netflix you wanna explain to me why you edited #BackToTheFuturePart2 ? This is the original scene. You cut out the magazine cover discovery and 2 lines from Marty. And not even that well. Your edit was sloppy AF. What gives? pic.twitter.com/93PRXa3TMQ — Salty Nerd (@salty_nerd) May 19, 2020"The blame is on Universal who somehow furnished Netflix an edited version of the movie," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I learned about it some ten days ago from an eagle-eyed fan, and had the studio rectify the error. The version now running is the uncensored, unedited, original version."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is in the works for the launch of both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (as well as PC and current systems), and it's going to introduce a few changes to the Assassin's Creed formula. The two most recent games in the series, Origins and Odyssey, have taken the series in a new direction by melding the action gameplay with RPG elements. Valhalla isn't necessarily dropping those, but it sounds like progression will be a bit different in the new game. It should serve as a more comfortable play experience for fans of the earlier games, which were pure action-adventure games with very little in the way of role-playing elements.Talking to Kotaku, creative director Ashraf Ismail has delved into the game's progression system, as well as how new missions will be doled out, among other details. Ismail says that one of the goals with this game is to prevent players from hitting progression walls, so that you're less likely to need to grind to level up."We have a new take on progression in this game," Ismail says. "We have more the concept of power, power that is gained through, let’s say, the player gaining skills." He wants to avoid "big progression walls" with this game, so that players can explore freely without being held back too much.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
