Following a job listing suggesting that Sony will launch the PlayStation 5 this October, the company has stated that the month was included in error. The PS5 is not confirmed for a launch in October, and the final release date--or even release window--is still unknown at this point. We'll have to wait for official word from Sony to learn when the console will launch, and with Sony saying that it plans to share details on PS5 launch games, that could come relatively soon. The job listing was created for a position at Sony Interactive Entertainment, and hosted on a Japanese recruitment website. The line in question mentioned that the PlayStation 5 would launch in October, which was the first mention of an exact release month for Sony's next-generation console.Japanese publication Famitsu contacted Sony for comment, who stated that the information was erroneously included by the recruitment company in question.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Memorial Day weekend is finally here, and with it, the holiday is bringing a slew of deals across tech and gaming. GameStop always gets in on the action with a major sale of its own, and its 2020 Memorial Day sale is live now through Monday, May 25 with deals on games, accessories, refurbished consoles, and more. Its biggest promotion is a buy two, get one free offer on new and pre-owned games for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. This type of sale is usually relegated to pre-owned titles only, so it's pretty notable that new games, including some Switch titles, are included as well. Unfortunately (but not surprisingly), first-party Switch games and retro games aren't included, and most of the games are full price. As usual, when you add three games to your cart, the price of the cheapest one will be subtracted from your overall order. Because of this, it's important to be strategic with which games you choose--buying two $60 games and one $15 game isn't much of a savings. You should also be aware that many of the games in this B2G1 sale are listed at a price higher than what we'd normally see them on sale. Nier: Automata's Game of the Yorha Edition, for instance, has regularly been available for $25, but it's listed at $40 here. The Witcher 3's Complete Edition is usually on sale for about $20 for PS4 and Xbox One, and $45 for the Switch version, yet those versions are selling for $40 and $60 here. And whatever you do, don't buy Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for $60--it's nearly always on sale for $15 to $20.If you're shopping for new games, there are still some solid options included; just be aware you could probably find some of these games individually for cheaper. Notably, the sale includes Final Fantasy VII Remake - Deluxe Edition, which has been hard to find physical copies of since launch. Another great option is Persona 5 Royal's steelbook launch edition, on sale for $50. The B2G1 sale also includes the Resident Evil 3 remake, Control, The Outer Worlds, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, so you've got some good games to choose from.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Minecraft developer Mojang is moving into the new decade with a new name--or at least a very slightly revised one. The company has been opening more offices around the world as it expands its focus beyond the popular freeform creation game. As a result, it has changed its name from Mojang to Mojang Studios, with an accompanying logo revision to match. It's even released an accompanying video to showcase the changes, and you can watch it below. The news comes just as Minecraft celebrates its 11th anniversary recently, with the first version having been released back in May 2009. It's also celebrating a massive milestone: 200 million copies of Minecraft have been sold, with a huge number of active players every month. The new logo is made up of little gadgets called "Mojangs," appropriately enough, and in the trailer they are turned and twisted around to spell out the studio's name. It sounds like it won't be the last time we hear about the somewhat sentient gizmos, and they should pop up again as we learn about future Mojang Studios projects.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Not long after one Call of Duty: Warzone squad set a new world record with 121 kills in a single game of Quads, that record has fallen.Popular streamer Vikkstar set the record with three teammates from the FaZe Atlanta professional Call of Duty team: Cellium, aBeZy-, and priestahh. At the start of the video, Vikkstar acknowledges that the world record is actually higher, but he claims the other squad did so by creating new accounts that allowed them to matchmake with lower-skill enemies.Vikkstar also confirmed that, for this new record, there were 136 players in the Warzone lobby--out of a possible 150. His team was able to get 138 kills because nearly half of players who are killed once are able to respawn through the Gulag system, while teammates can also buy players back. In total, there were 285 kills during the match, so his team got nearly half.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
