Indiana Jones 5 hit a snag recently when director Steven Spielberg--who directed every previous Indiana Jones film--announced he was leaving the project. The movie is still happening, and Lucasfilm has brought on Logan and Walk the Line director James Mangold. Producer Frank Marshall has provided an update on how the movie is coming along, and it's very early days.Marshall told Collider that the writing process for Indiana Jones 5 only "just started." He didn't share any details on the script, but the last we heard, Jurassic Park writer David Koepp was attached as the screenwriter. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that Indiana Jones 5 will be a "continuation" of the series instead of a reboot, but no story details are confirmed yet.Indiana Jones 5--or whatever Lucasfilm decides to call the movie--is scheduled to be released in theatres in 2022. Marshall told Collider that the COVID-19 crisis is likely to impact how the movie is made. He said he expects you won't see "big crowd scenes" in film for some time. Additionally, the craft services department--which delivers food to cast and crew--will likely be eliminated, he said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Bourne franchise, which consists of four films starring Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, amnesiac special agent, could return--but Damon will not be playing the character again. A reboot of the franchise is being planned, and it'll be separate from both those films and the 2012 spin-off The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner. In an interview with Collider, producer Frank Marshall has discussed plans to bring Bourne back to the big screen with a new creative team. "I do like the Bourne series, and I do think that’s an opportunity for different filmmakers to come in now," he said. "So, I’m hoping that we can find a new story for Bourne and a new filmmaker. We are looking."While this doesn't necessarily mean that a new Bourne film will definitely happen, planning is, at least, underway. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

XCOM 2 Collection is coming to Switch on May 29, alongside the Borderlands Legendary Collection and BioShock: The Collection. While the latter two are collecting games from the Xbox 360 and PS3, XCOM 2 started life as a PC exclusive before eventually coming to PS4 and Xbox One. In a new interview, port studio Virtuos has talked about how they brought the game to Nintendo's system--and what they think is possible on the system.Talking to Nintendo Life, Virtuos senior producer Zhang Chengwei has spoken about the process of bringing the game, complete with all its DLC, to Switch. According to Chengwei, they "developed a clever general-purpose rendering library that allows XCOM 2 to be rendered directly on the Switch without changing the original rendering module from Unreal Engine 3," which helped to deal with the Switch's reduced memory (4GB--the PC version requires 7GB). "I’d say that we spent half a year just to optimise the memory, and we used many methods throughout this period, including using more efficient formats for files, removing needless memory usage, and even modifying and optimising the original console's memory system," he says. Virtuos also developed the Switch port of Bioshock: The Collection, as well as the upcoming Switch port of The Outer Worlds, and Chengwei talks generally about their processes. He outlines what he calls "Virtuos' Solution," which involves discussing expectations with publishers and figuring out what to prioritize. "We propose the best solutions for how to fully use the Switch’s best features and really make the game shine, not just as a game, but specifically as a Switch game," he says."Off the back of our work on Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Dark Souls: Remastered, The Outer Worlds and the coming XCOM 2, we now have no doubt that Switch adaptations can be worked for games on any of the current generation of consoles," he says.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Chris Evans' portrayal of Steve Rogers in the Captain America series is the role he is most famous for, but he almost did not take it. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter as part of their Award Chatter podcast, Evans has opened up about his casting in the role, why he almost rejected it, and what convinced him to take up the shield.Evans recalls playing a superhero, Johnny Storm, in Sony's Fantastic Four movies in 2005 and 2007. As the sequel released, though, he started to suffer from severe anxiety, as he felt that the better movies he was starring in (like Danny Boyle's Sunshine) were flying under the radar. When he experienced panic attacks on the set of 2010's Puncture, he started to worry that acting might not be for him. When Marvel Studios contacted him about testing for the part of Steve Rogers, and potentially locking into a nine-film deal if he did well, Evans initially declined to come in and test for the part. "My suffering would be my own," he recalls thinking, worrying that his anxiety would grow worse. Although he was offered a modified deal, involving fewer films and more money if he came in for a screen test, Evans continued to turn it down, worrying that the pressure of fame would get the better of him.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

That means you still have a few days left to participate before it will be gone, so read on to learn all about the event and how you can make the most of it. Like the May Day event that took place at the beginning of the month, the Stamp Rally gives you a week to visit your island’s museum in order to collect stamps and give you an excuse to spend some time fully appreciating Blathers’ beautiful building of bugs, bones, and bass (among other fish). Read on for a look at what the Stamp Rally entails and then check out our look at the Animal Crossing events calendar. How To Participate In Stamp RallyTaking part in the Stamp Rally couldn’t be simpler. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is in the works for the launch of both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (as well as PC and current systems), and it's going to introduce a few changes to the Assassin's Creed formula. The two most recent games in the series, Origins and Odyssey, have taken the series in a new direction by melding the action gameplay with RPG elements. Valhalla isn't necessarily dropping those, but it sounds like progression will be a bit different in the new game. It should serve as a more comfortable play experience for fans of the earlier games, which were pure action-adventure games with very little in the way of role-playing elements.Talking to Kotaku, creative director Ashraf Ismail has delved into the game's progression system, as well as how new missions will be doled out, among other details. Ismail says that one of the goals with this game is to prevent players from hitting progression walls, so that you're less likely to need to grind to level up."We have a new take on progression in this game," Ismail says. "We have more the concept of power, power that is gained through, let’s say, the player gaining skills." He wants to avoid "big progression walls" with this game, so that players can explore freely without being held back too much.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Xbox Game Pass is getting another handful of games throughout the rest of May on both Xbox One and PC. In addition to games that joined earlier this month like Red Dead Redemption and Final Fantasy 9, the next few weeks will bring four more games to the service, including a new first-party game. It comes from one of the world's most-popular franchises and is among the biggest games releasing on Xbox One this year. That one is Minecraft Dungeons, the spin-off of the persistently popular building game from Mojang Studios. The game takes the familiar trappings of Minecraft like Creepers, Illagers, and pickaxes and fits them into an isometric dungeon-crawling adventure for up to four players. You can also claim Alan Wake, the classic game from Control developer Remedy, and the city-planning sim Cities: Skylines. Each of those will be available across the Xbox One and PC versions of the service, while PC users will also get Plebby Quest: The Crusades. You can check the dates below, with the first two available right now.The announcements also mentioned several games that will be leaving both versions of the service on May 29, including Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and Old Man's Journey. That is in just a few days. You should be able to still start and complete them before they're gone, but you won't want to waste much more time.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As the next generation approaches, both Microsoft and Sony have been outlining their respective visions for the coming years. And while upgraded hardware that pushes more triangles is always a priority in the games industry, both companies have increasingly turned their messaging toward the consumer-friendly features of the impending Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. One such highlight from Microsoft, the promise of a unified library that works across generations, could signal the way forward for the industry as a whole.Backwards compatibility has been a talking point for platform holders for years, but in practice, the feature has been spotty. Some generations have eschewed it almost entirely, as hardware architecture became more complex and distinct from prior generations, and this marked a stark distinction from PC where most games remain playable forever. Microsoft refocused efforts on backwards compatibility in a big way on Xbox One. After first cutting ties with the Xbox 360 library almost completely, the company made inroads with fans by announcing a major initiative to retroactively import older games through firmware updates that would increase compatibility. Nowadays, it's difficult to find a popular 360 game that isn't playable on Xbox One, and those who amassed a large digital collection in the heady days of Xbox Live Arcade can see it all waiting to be downloaded in their game library. This effort has extended to a selection of the original Xbox's library as well, giving players access to almost 20 years of games.Concept art for Halo InfiniteA day might be coming when games are no longer thought of as tethered to a specific console. With the Xbox Series X, the company appears primed to take the next logical step. It has made a point of hyping its "Smart Delivery" feature, which ostensibly allows you to transfer your ownership license of a game over to a new console when you upgrade, as long as a publisher enables the feature. But Microsoft has been clear that the transfer goes both ways--if you own a game and sign in to your account on a friend's Xbox One, you can still download cross-gen compatible games you purchased on Xbox Series X. Microsoft boasts that Smart Delivery will always provide the version optimized for your hardware, which may be increasingly important if the company adopts a multi-device approach to the new generation. Xbox Series X is expected to be the first of many hardware iterations to come, and the promise of Smart Delivery is that you won't have to think about which version to buy or fiddle with your graphics settings. The software will simply know what's best.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
