Acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino has named the movie that he thinks is the best from the past 10 years. Speaking to Premiere, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood director said that honor goes to David Fincher's 2010 drama The Social Network--which chronicled the rise of Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg."It's The Social Network, hands down…It is number 1 because it's the best, that's all! It crushes all the competition," he said (via The Playlist). The film was written by Aaron Sorkin, and Tarantino called him out as one of the best writers working right now. Tarantino added that he's a big fan of The Newsroom, which Sorkin also wrote.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Crystal Dynamics has revealed a new character for their upcoming Marvel's Avengers game, and it's someone we've never seen in the comics or movies. In a new post on Square Enix's website, the team is introducing Cerise--a new "inhuman" team member.Cerise is a wheelchair user, and the motion capture for her was provided by accessibility specialist Cherry Thompson. The post is light on details about the character, but game designer Mariah Robinson talks about the importance of accessibility and representation to the team. "We have been working on a variety of ways to represent diversity," she says. "We see all kinds of people in our society, so why not reflect that in our in-game world?"Senior community and social media manager Meagan Marie shares similar sentiments in the interview. "The fantasy of being a Super Hero is universal, so options that allow players to customize their experience to fit specific needs and playstyles means we can share our vision with even more fans," she says. The presence of Cerise suggests that there could be other original characters in the game too--hopefully we'll find out more when the next gameplay footage debuts on June 24.Marvel's Avengers is due to launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on September 1, 2020. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is just as vast and fantastical as it was in 2010. While not every aspect has aged gracefully, Monolith Soft's lengthy role-playing game has withstood the test of time and further cements itself as one of the most memorable JRPGs in the last decade.Although Xenoblade Chronicles' opening hours may seem standard fare for JRPGs story-wise, what sets it apart right from the get-go is its setting. Years before the events of the game, two massive titans, Bionis and Mechonis, were locked in a devastating battle of unfathomable proportions. One day, the titans froze, and life started to pop up on the backs of these enormous figures. To put things into perspective, Colony 9--where protagonist Shulk lives--and the sprawling plains and lake surrounding it are located near the Bionis' ankle.Despite Xenoblade Chronicles's age, its sense of scale is still impressive. Throughout your journey you explore wide-open plains, dense forests, snow-capped mountains, and vast lakes. All the while, Mechonis looms over you as you explore every corner of Bionis.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Resolutiion constantly implies there’s more going on than you realize. Its strong anti-imperialist messaging pushes you to question the nature of your mission. Its mechanics, including the fact that most enemies fall incapacitated before you kill them, suggests that maybe you should show mercy when given the choice. The concept of scholars studying the world in VR, seeking to understand things without seeing what's in front of them, challenges you to question when knowledge is useful. Walls and signs adorned with intricate symbols and filled with cryptic, interactive elements forces you to consider the possibility that you’ll need to be extremely clever and dig really deep to find the truth. That truth is extremely hard to come by, though. Even after combing the world and finding out how many of the pieces fit, I walked away feeling that Resolutiion’s big philosophical questions stirred my mind. However, its obtuse attempts to manifest them as a deep, mysterious puzzle beneath the game’s surface-level objectives created a gap between the loose, but entertaining Metroid-style action game I played and the intellectually stimulating action-puzzle I could tell was there but had trouble parsing.Resolutiion is a stylish game. Its smooth-moving but highly pixelated art style evokes games like Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery, Below, and Hyper Light Drifter at a glance, but it has its own thrown-together mix of cultural influences that create a unique setting. The backdrop of its world, a post-apocalyptic ruin rebuilding in the shadow of a cyberpunk dystopia, permeates every screen. The landscape blends large swaths of concrete and sand with bright, unnatural skies. Its characters range from Buddhist monk laborers to talking deer and bunnies espousing subversive anti-imperialist rhetoric.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Horror is often bulging with contradictions and illogical deaths. Take, for example, the hapless victim who runs into a dead end when hounded by a machete-wielding murderer, or deeper into the unsettling darkness of the woods where unknown terrors lie in wait. On the other hand there's Edward, the everyday man you're embodying in Those Who Remain, the type of horror protagonist who is decidedly more aware of the dire situation he finds himself in. Despite being unwittingly caught up in the spooky affairs within the sleepy town of Dormont, he seems to regard the scenes of terror and panic unfolding around him with the detachment and fatigue of a man who desperately wants everything to blow over. Scenes of sheer exasperation in the game are absurdly common; Edward routinely shouts variations of “Not you again!†as he scrambles from yet another blood-thirsty demon that's frantically clambering towards him. It's not difficult to empathize with Edward's circumstances--and by that, I mean the exhaustion of going through, over and over again, the onerous cycle of looking for the right object to unlock the next objective with, and painstakingly searching for clues that will move the plot along, while eluding a freakish behemoth that's screeching for your blood. To put it plainly, Those Who Remain is essentially a three-dimensional version of a find-the-hidden-object game, where flinging furniture about and peering into every single desk drawer you spot are par for the course. Edward wanders about a lot just to look for things--into a luxurious mansion, the town's post office, the national library--and even traverses through into a parallel, alternate dimension to hunt down more keys, letters, and in one instance, weed killers.Like many horror games, Those Who Remain is also draped in shadows, which piles on the growing tedium and frustration of searching for these items. Even in the midst of looking for these in murky corners, Edward also has to constantly seek refuge in illuminated spots against glowy-eyed specters, which can be seen silently observing him from the pitch darkness of the abandoned town. The notion of giving your enemies such a distinct form seems like a novelty in a genre that usually presents them as some wispy, unknowable force, but the ruse soon wears thin after you realize there's not much more to this idea. In the end, the impenetrable darkness simply functions as an invisible barrier that prevents you from wandering into places you shouldn't be in just yet, while hardly posing any real, active danger.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fortnite's 12.61 update has arrived, and it's brought another set of challenges to complete before Season 2 winds down and Season 3 begins next month. The Storm the Agency challenges are now live, and one of the missions asks you to eliminate henchmen at different safe houses. If you're having trouble tracking them down, this guide will show you where the safe house are located and how to complete the challenge.Where Are The Shadow Safe House Locations?Shadow's safe houses have been a fixture of the map since Season 2 began, but they're tricky to find because of their inconspicuous appearance. The safe houses are all disguised to look like normal buildings from the outside, but there are some telltale signs that give them away. You'll know for sure when you stumble upon one as they're swarming with AI henchmen, so you'll need to be cautious when approaching them. We've marked down the safe house locations on the map below:Shadow safe houses mapPleasant ParkEast of Craggy CliffsSouth of Sweaty SandsMiddle of the island east of Frenzy FarmOn the small island north of Misty MeadowsHow To Complete The ChallengeThe trickiest part of this challenge is actually tracking down the safe houses, so once you know where those are located, all you need to do to complete the mission is head to them and eliminate henchmen. You need to eliminate a henchman at three different safe houses in total to finish the challenge, so you can't return to the same one across multiple matches, but you shouldn't have much difficulty regardless.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With The Last of Us Part 2 only three weeks away, developer Naughty Dog has shared an extended look at gameplay during a new State of Play livestream. In the gameplay sequence, we caught a glimpse of an interesting easter egg: an NPC hanging out with a PS Vita in her hand.In the encounter, below, Ellie is seen swimming through some flooded facility controlled by an enemy faction. As Ellie gets out of the water, she holds an enemy NPC hostage to gather some information from her before ultimately taking her life. What's curious about the encounter, though, is that the NPC is seen playing Dennaton Games' breakout title Hotline Miami on a PlayStation Vita. You can hear the track "Hydrogen" bumping in the connected earbuds. The official Hotline Miami Twitter account chimed in to remind everyone that the twin-stick shooter is, in fact, available on PS Vita. Minecraft Dungeons, the new dungeon-crawling adventure game from the creators of Minecraft, is pretty different from the game it’s spun-off from. Instead of mining, woodcutting, farming, and gallivanting across diverse biomes in first-person, you’re tasked with exploring dungeons packed with all kinds of nasty enemies. One of the most prominent differences outside of the overall genre shift, though, has to do with the implementation of Artifacts.Artifacts, although magical in nature, are different from enchanting, so we’ve put together a separate guide for how the enchanting system works. If you’re only starting out, though, you should start off by checking out everything you need to know before playing Minecraft Dungeons, before consulting our list of essential tips and tricks guide. You can also read our Minecraft Dungeons review. What Are Artifacts?Artifacts in Minecraft Dungeons are sort of like the spells you’d expect to find in a traditional RPG. You can equip up to three Artifacts at one time, meaning that you have three different spells to make use of when you go dungeon-crawling. Just remember that they are set to cooldowns, so each Artifact will be temporarily off-limits after you use it (fortunately, some cooldowns are remarkably short).Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
