Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has arrived on Nintendo Switch, and it features a deep battle system with a lot of different mechanics to master. This system is fundamentally similar to the one in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so if you've played that entry, you'll already be familiar with the basics. That said, there are some notable differences that set the two apart. While the in-game tutorials do a good job of acclimating you to the various components of Xenoblade Chronicles' battle system, there are some nuances that aren't as well explained. To help you out, we've put together this guide breaking down the battle system's different mechanics and how to effectively use them.We gave the remastered RPG a 9/10 in our Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition review. It's easy to recognize Crucible's many design influences. The Amazon-published third-person multiplayer game features hero-style characters with abilities similar to those found in Overwatch. Its one MOBA-centric game mode should feel familiar to you if you've played Smite or the now-defunct Paragon. And even its light progression system echoes the one found in Gearbox's Battleborn. Crucible attempts to remix a lot of existing ideas and cohesively tie them together into something more successful, but as a result, it fails to create an identity for itself.Crucible takes place on an alien planet primed for off-world mining, which plays host to three game modes on its single map. Heart of the Hive is as close to a MOBA as Crucible gets, with a focus on PvP and PvE play as two teams fight to secure the hearts of dangerous hives. Alpha Hunters is a spin on battle royale, with teams of two skirmishing in short matches. Lastly, Harvester Command combines traits of team deathmatch and classic point control, rewarding players for kills and the number of objectives controlled on the map. In each mode, you have a choice to play as one of 10 characters, each with a handful of unique abilities and unlockable traits.Heart of the Hive is the main event, pitting two teams of four against one another on a large map filled with AI enemies as you hunt down periodically spawning hives and attempt to capture three of their underlying hearts. Like in most MOBAs, you kill these enemies for XP, levelling up your character to improve your health, damage, and ability effectiveness. But in Crucible, there's no challenge involved in killing these enemies; it's easy enough to tackle a large group of them alone without any risk, dancing around their slow and predictable attack patterns. It reduces the necessary farming of experience to a mindless annoyance, made even more irritating by the fact that it's predominantly how you'll spend most of your time in this mode.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When the credits roll at the end of Mortal Kombat 11's excellent story mode, the slate has been wiped clean. After a variety of entertaining time-travelling hijinks, everyone's second-favourite Shaolin monk, Liu Kang, has ascended into godhood and is ready to begin writing an all-new chapter in Mortal Kombat history. It's as close to a perfect ending as you can get to the almost 30 years of convoluted lore this series has. But now, there's Aftermath, Mortal Kombat 11's optional expansion that tacks on a handful of new chapters to that narrative. And while the idea of a story-focussed add-on to this fighting game is an exciting prospect--and it certainly has its high moments--when the credits roll for the second time there isn't that same sense of gratification. At the beginning of Aftermath, which immediately follows the end of Mortal Kombat 11, Liu Kang is interrupted by the nefarious sorcerer Shang Tsung. Along with the righteous wind god Fujin and badass indigenous shaman Nightwolf, the trio stops Liu Kang from proceeding with his rebuilding plans with the warning that they need to go back in time, again, to retrieve a MacGuffin in order to stop the process from going to shit. Over five chapters and a cinema-appropriate two-and-a-half-hour running time, the five Mortal Kombat characters that have now been introduced to MK11 as post-release content get to make their mark in the story. The chapters cover the hijinks of Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and the banshee queen Sindel from the Fighters Pack 1 DLC, as well as two characters newly introduced in Aftermath: Fujin and the four-armed Sheeva. The relatively brief running time of the whole thing allows it to be mostly filled with great moments. The blockbuster flair present in the original story mode is again in full force, as is the excellent fight choreography that makes you want to leap out of your chair. There's still that weird disconnect when an extravagant fight cinematic transitions into the more rigid nature of the game's actual one-on-one fights, but there are some good moments that lie in the gameplay portions too, like the handful of battles where you have an assist character to call on.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Unlike some other MMOs, World of Warcraft never made the jump to consoles. However, the game is getting controller support with the Shadowlands expansion.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

All good things end... eventually. Season 2 of Fortnite Chapter 2 was originally scheduled to conclude on April 30, but a few weeks prior, developer Epic Games announced an extension. More content for Season 2 will keep you busy in the meantime, but we are quickly approaching the Fortnite Season 3 start date and will be able to play all-new challenges and modes soon. When Does Fortnite Season 3 Start?Fortnite Season 3 is launching on June 11, just after Season 2 ends, and Season 2 is being extended by a week. Battle Pass challenges are available to complete until that new date. What Can You Do In Fortnite While You Wait?Prior to Season 3's launch, there will be some sort of "Doomsday Event" happening, officially called The Device. It was also delayed from May 30 to June 6, suggesting the countdown timer available in-game was based on the old date. While the extra wait is certainly going to be difficult for the most-dedicated players, it should also make the eventual revelation that much more satisfying. Epic Games has hit a home run on most of these map-changing events so far.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As seen in the cinematic reveal trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, protagonist Eivor uses a hidden blade where the weapon is located on the top of the forearm as opposed to the bottom--which goes against the traditional style that the Assassins have used since the first game. In a short video, Ubisoft has explained that there is a reason for Eivor wearing the blade this way. In fact, this decision removes the "hidden" part of the blade entirely to better fit with the tone of the game and the culture of its protagonist. "It is a deliberate decision," Assassin's Creed Valhalla narrative director Darby McDevitt said on Twitter. "It's something that Eivor feels very strongly about. When he or she gets a hold of this hidden blade, it occurs to Eivor that it would be much more interesting to let people see this weapon, to be conspicuous about it. Vikings were known as having a sense of honor and it was very important that when you killed somebody, that you let people know that you killed them."McDevitt continued: "Oftentimes, people would not be punished for murder if they had a small justification, like say somebody insulted you. They would not be punished for the murder as long as they admitted to it, as long as they stated openly that 'Yes, I killed that person because we got into combat.' And so having the hidden blade visible is actually kind of an extension of that honor. We want this conspicuous aspect of the blade to be reflected in the way that Eivor presents him or herself to the world."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While there are now a plethora of streaming services to choose from, with HBO Max being the latest, Amazon Prime Video is still kicking around. This June, there are plenty of new movies, TV shows, and a few originals headed your way, and most of the content lands on the service the first of the month.Amazon doesn't like to make you wait, and on June 1, you'll have a fine selection of movies and TV shows to check out, including the classic 1996 comedy Kingpin. The film stars Woody Harrelson as a former pro bowler who takes an Amish man under his wing to take down another pro, played by Bill Murray. It is easily one of the best comedies of the decade. If you love HBO's Westworld, you can watch Futureworld on June 1. This sci-fi movie is the 1976 followup to the Westworld film from three years prior. At a futuristic theme park, a secret is uncovered which leads to an ex-employee being murdered. In the aftermath, two reporters try to uncover the truth. The movie itself isn't great--and to be fair, the original Westworld film is just ok--but '70s sci-fi itself is a fun watch just to see where people during that time thought the far future would be like.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Epic Games is gearing up for another huge Fortnite event to mark the end of Chapter 2, Season 2. Officially called "The Device," the upcoming finale--popularly referred to as the Doomsday live event--is mostly still a mystery. But we do know when it begins. What Is The Doomsday Live Event? The much-rumored "Doomsday Device" that Fortnite players and leakers have been discussing for the past few weeks is at the core of this event, with some speculating that the large orb-shaped device with pipes running everywhere in Midas's office is The Device. The introduction of the Storm the Agency challenges in the game's latest update might suggest that Team Shadow may soon usurp Team Ghost in the Agency, which could lead to the device being triggered. When Is The Doomsday Event? The Doomsday live event begins on June 6 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, which is about a week past when the doomsday clocks were originally suggesting in the game. Epic Games says space is limited so you should show up 30 minutes beforehand, and it will only take place once. Presumably this event (officially called The Device) will coincide with an updated countdown clock reaching zero in order to add some extra tension. Because of the updated animations for swimming, it's predicted that some of the battle royale map could be sent underwater as part of the event. This would create a radically-different environment for the beginning of Season 3, assuming the changes are story-centric and semi-permanent.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
