EA's subscription service, EA Access, is officially making its way to Steam. The news coincides with the release of a handful of new EA-published games on the service, although some of its heaviest hitters--Apex Legends, FIFA 20, Battlefield V, and so on--remain Origin-only on PC.Notably, the service on Steam will be called EA Access, mimicking the naming convention used for the Xbox One and PS4 versions. PC already has its own version of EA Access, dubbed Origin Access, that operates through the EA-run Origin store.Origin Access has expanded since its initial launch to offer two versions: Basic and Premier. Basic functions much like EA Access on consoles, offering 10-hour trials to upcoming games, unlimited access to a selection of games in the Vault, and discounts on Origin purchases. Premier, meanwhile, adds in full access to brand-new games.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

EA has extended its cross-generation upgrade offer for Madden NFL 21, following feedback from fans about the policy. While the company originally put narrow time restrictions on the offer--creating some confusion with Microsoft's Smart Delivery in the process--it has now expanded the time period significantly.Madden NFL 21 will let you upgrade for free from Xbox One to the Xbox Series X version, but the original press release said you would need to buy the game by the end of this year, and then upgrade to the Series X by March 31, 2021. This came after EA CFO Blake Jorgensen remarked on free next-gen upgrades during an earnings call, so the same offer will likely extend to PS4 and PS5 versions. Now, however, the company has extended the offer with a statement on its Next Level website (via Polygon). It's calling the program "Dual Entitlement" and will extend it through the release of Madden NFL 22. That means instead of needing to upgrade by next March, you'll be able to make the switch anytime before the next game launches in the fall of 2021.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Animal Crossing: New Horizons hasn't gotten any less popular since launching in March with people dropping hundreds of hours into designing their islands. Celebrities, like Silicon Valley star Jimmy O. Yang, are obsessed with it too. Yang, who stars alongside Steve Carrell in Space Force on Netflix, went on CNET's I'm So Obsessed podcast and mentioned Nintendo's village simulator briefly."Everyone is obsessed with Animal Crossing right now," he said, going on to add that he named his island Guam after not being able to come up with something "more creative."Animal Crossing is one of the fastest and best selling games on the Nintendo Switch. It sold just shy of 3.9 million copies in its home market of Japan, passing up previous record holder Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. All throughout Destiny 2's current content season, players have been completing Seraph Tower events in an effort to power up Rasputin, a powerful computer that once controlled the entire solar system's defenses. The plan was for Rasputin to use its weapons to shoot down the Almighty, a giant spaceship that's currently hurtling toward the Last City on a collision course. After months of preparation, the time to shoot down the Almighty is finally upon us--it's happening at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on Saturday, June 6.Bungie tweeted that we'll finally see Rasputin deal with the Almighty this weekend, which is just a few days before the launch of Season 11 on June 9. The official tweet is thin on details, however; it doesn't say exactly what's going to happen at the daily reset on Saturday, or what players should expect.Rasputin is at full power.Tomorrow at 10AM PT we take aim at the Almighty. pic.twitter.com/Lkx8gFr5m7 — Destiny 2 (@DestinyTheGame) June 5, 2020It does sound like it might be a good idea to be in the Tower at the time of the reset, however. Battlefield V's last big content update--the Summer Update--is coming soon, and now developer DICE has shared more details about it. [Update: The update is now live on on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and as DICE stated, it has been released without the usual fanfare you'd expect around such a launch.]"We're otherwise encouraging that we all take notice of what's happening in the United States, as well as other places around the world, and ask how we can all do more, as we must do more," DICE said in a blog post. "Racism should not exist in our society. We stand with all of our African-American / Black colleagues and partners, families and friends, and everyone around the world who is ready to see it end."DICE is owned by Electronic Arts, which has pledged more than $1 million to organizations including the Equal Justice Initiative and the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, along with others to be announced. EA will also double-match employee donations.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
