"When will Disneyland re-open?" is a question that's been on many Disney fans' minds since the Covid-19 pandemic forced theme parks to close along with countless other businesses earlier this year. Now, we have an answer: pending government approval, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products plans to re-open Anaheim, California's Downtown Disney District on July 9, Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure on July 17, and the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Paradise Pier Hotel on July 23.The company announced its "proposal" in a press release. In order to make re-opening safer and limit spread of the virus, they plan to institute a new reservations system for park entry. "Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, the Disneyland Resort will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance," the announcement says. Details about that reservation system are forthcoming and will be available on Disneyland.com. In the meantime, regular new ticket sales as well as annual pass sales and renewals will remain paused.Even when the parks and other areas re-open, events and attractions that draw large crowds--including parades, "nighttime spectaculars," and character meet and greets--will still be on hold, to "return at a later date" (although characters will still be present in some capacity). In the hotels, physical distancing guidelines and enhanced cleaning measures will take effect. Disney promised additional "enhanced health and safety measures" once the park and hotels re-open in order to further ensure guest safety.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dirt 5 will utilize the power of the Xbox Series X to have the option to run at 120 fps, Codemasters said in an interview. In an interview with Xbox Wire Codemasters technical director David Springate revealed how the developer was using the upgraded hardware of the Xbox Series X to develop Dirt 5. Springate said that not only could the game reach 120 fps, but they were surprised how quickly they got there."More importantly, I was shocked at how quickly we could hit 120 fps!" Springate said. "We hadn't done any optimization for it at this stage but the game was frequently hitting 120 fps." Springate cited the system's GPU and CPU for making this possible in addition to improving physics and lowering input latency.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you enjoyed the original Last of Us, you might not like the sequel, writer-director Neil Druckmann says. Speaking to Wired, Druckmann said Naughty Dog has created a divisive game with The Last of Us Part II, and he expects some people to come away with a sour taste in their mouth."Some of [the fans of the original game] are not going to like this game, and not like where it goes, and not like what it says or the fate of characters that they love," Druckmann said. "I'd rather have people passionately hate it than just be like, 'Yeah, it was OK.'"This commentary from Druckmann is nothing new for The Last of Us Part II. Before this, Joel actor Troy Baker said he expects the game to be divisive. He said he hopes the narrative challenges players' expectations of "what the game is, what the world is, who the characters are--everything."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In my original review of The Outer Worlds, one of my takeaways was that it had strong worldbuilding which was enhanced by its audiovisual direction. That was based on dozens of hours with the PC version of the game. The game now has a port on Nintendo Switch, and being able to play a title as expansive as The Outer Worlds on the system is impressive. But naturally, the big compromise that it makes in order to run on the relatively less powerful console is in the visual splendour of its world. As I've come to expect in Switch ports of graphically-intensive games, the concessions most noticeably come in the form of a very low level of detail, significantly reduced environmental objects, and the absence of many ambient and post-processing visual effects, among other things. The result is a fuzzy, watercolour-like image of a barren world, and you certainly lose a lot of the awe that comes with seeing the game's large, lush open areas and intricately detailed cities. But more importantly, the low visual fidelity makes it more difficult to spot enemy characters--especially at mid-to-long-range, and especially using the Switch's handheld mode; they tend to blend together, often sharing the same muted colour palettes. Netflix has launched a new Black Lives Matter playlist in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. The list, which is available to all subscribers globally, focuses on Black storytelling. In a statement on Twitter, Netflix said that it is "highlighting powerful and complex narratives about the Black experience." The list includes many Netflix originals, such as Mudbound, Barry (the Obama biopic), Rodney King, 13th, When They See Us, and Trigger Warning with Killer Mike. Netflix has also released some documentary titles for free on YouTube, including Zion, Strong Island, and the Academy Award nominated 13th. When we say “Black Lives Matter,†we also mean “Black storytelling matters.â€With an understanding that our commitment to true, systemic change will take time – we're starting by highlighting powerful and complex narratives about the Black experience. — Netflix (@netflix) June 10, 2020There are some shortcomings, though--the list is focused entirely on American narratives. Accessing the list here in Australia, you're greeted with a thin 42 titles--none of which feature Indigenous Australians. It's an unfortunate oversight on what is otherwise a good initiative. GameSpot stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.GameSpot has officially kicked off Play For All--a celebration of all things gaming. Critics and fans throw around the term "tactical shooter" to represent any kind of game that somehow mandates that you think about how you shoot. Disintegration is one of the few that literally blends core real-time tactics mechanics and first-person shooting. It isn't a unique mix, though the balance of the two styles feels different from what we've seen over the years. The strategy is rich and demanding, even when the AI can't quite live up to its responsibilities. The shooting evokes all the good things about turret sequences--mainly the feeling that you're a really big gun and that there's always more stuff to shoot--without the restrictive boredom that comes from being on-rails. The strength of those parts, and the ways you constantly switch between them, build up an intense field-commander fantasy. In the single-player campaign, you control Romer Shoal, the gravcycle-flying commander of a robot special forces squad. As "pilot," you are their scout, artillery, healer, and whatever else your team needs you to be. And yet, while it sounds like you're holding all the cards, your team can defeat enemies quicker as a group than you can alone, so you need them to do most of the trigger-pulling. So your most important role is shot-caller: You tell them where to go and who to shoot. If you're careless, they get overwhelmed and everyone dies. If you don't anticipate and react to the enemy's maneuvers, they get overwhelmed and everyone dies. If you… I think you catch my drift. So, as Romer, you are constantly in motion. As the team leader, you have a lot of responsibilities, and you need to switch hats often--pointing out new cover, shooting healing beacons, calling on each of your two-to-four bots on the ground to use their special abilities. Monitoring the skills, which include armor-weakening concussion grenades and fields that slow enemies down, is especially important. With a small team that's often fighting off much larger numbers, timing and syncing these skills is an essential means of getting the upper hand. Across the board, though, you constantly need to be present, focused on the task at hand, while maintaining a wider awareness of the battlefield. Managing all these tasks and keeping your proverbial finger on the pulse of the battle gets the adrenaline pumping. It can get overwhelming at times, but it's ultimately rewarding, as you come out of each victory knowing that it was your orders that won the day.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

You're hunkered down behind a beaten-up truck, bleeding from a chest wound. You can hear the labored breathing of one of your squadmates over the comms. Nightmare, as the team knows her, is unconscious at your feet, but you can't think about that right now as a horde of zombies comes skittering around the corner. You take aim, the first of your targets weaving erratically in your field of vision before you blow its brains out. You repeat this twice more and as the horde advances yet again, you hear a shot ring out and a bullet zips past your ear, splintering the helmet of an ADVENT soldier who had a flamethrower at the ready. The sniper, Rat King, holds up five fingers--minutes until evac arrives. Another member of your squad, Outrider, drops cloaking and picks Nightmare up to take her to safety as the sounds of more Lost ring out in the distance. It takes seconds, in the end. With the Commander's voice in your ear, you pull the pin on the frag grenade and chuck it, close enough to clip the rampaging horde but also to light up the truck that you're taking cover behind. This resulting explosion will finish you, but allow everyone else to make it to safety. After all the hard choices the Commander has had to make, your last thought is the hope that this has been easy in comparison.XCOM 2 Collection on the Switch is an ambitious port, full of those excruciating choices and richer for it. Firaxis Games' alien-massacring hit has become a bit of a household name when it comes to strategy games. Even though it's infamous for its Russian roulette-style approach to combat probability, the impact that XCOM 2 has had on the genre as a whole is widely accepted, making this one of the more highly-anticipated ports of legacy franchises to Nintendo's flagship console. Unfortunately, the full experience is too performance-intensive for the Switch to let the title's tactical magic truly shine through in this latest iteration.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
