In the late '90s and early aughts, a little fellow named Mr. Driller burrowed his way into the hearts of puzzle game fans worldwide. The years that followed saw several Mr. Driller releases across multiple platforms, but after a while, Namco seemed content to entomb the series and focus on other things. Now, a little over a decade later, Bandai-Namco has decided to unearth one of the most beloved Mr. Driller games, the formerly Japan-and-Europe-exclusive Mr. Driller Drill Land, to release on Switch and PC for a new generation of fans to enjoy.Mr. Driller Drill Land focuses on the titular Mr. Driller, aka Susumu Hori, and his extended gang of excavator friends and family (including his dad Taizo, who you might remember from Dig Dug). They're off to visit a new underground amusement park called Drill Land, filled with attractions that very coincidentally are based around the colored-block-drilling gameplay that defines the Mr. Driller series--with some notable twists. Challenges, cards, and plenty of collectibles abound in Drill Land, and you'll have to see if you have the chops to conquer each of the park's different attractions for high scores and goodies. (And you might just save the world, too.)The core Mr. Driller gameplay is a neat twist on the "falling colored blocks" idea. You control Susumu (or one of his companions), using your drill to break up colored blocks and dig deeper and deeper into the earth. As you destroy blocks and work your way into the earth, you'll free up other blocks, which will fall and join up with (and also break) others of the same color. Your goal is to reach a certain depth, but that's easier said than done--you have a limited air supply that acts as a timer, and some poor drilling choices could lead to your driller getting smooshed under a landslide. This makes the game a tense, careful balancing act--while air pickups are frequently available, being too hasty with your drilling decisions when oxygen is limited could lead to disaster. It might sound intimidating, but it's much easier to understand once you play a few sessions and see for yourself how loose blocks fall, combine, and break. It's been reported for some time that Microsoft is planning to launch not just its next-gen Xbox Series X console, but also a cheaper, lower-powered model as well. The company has alluded to the possibility with its naming convention for the new line of consoles--which is known simply as "Xbox"-- but made no specific announcement regarding any models besides the Series X. That will change in August, according to a report by Eurogamer, which said that Microsoft had originally planned to announce the secondary console, codenamed Lockhart, as part of its Xbox E3 press conference during June. When that was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its reveal plans also changed.Microsoft announced that it would be doing monthly events leading up to the release of the console, named Xbox 20/20, starting in May. It is unknown when exactly the decision was made to move the reveal from June to August, but June will end without an Xbox 20/20 event. Call of Duty: Warzone is about to get a lot bigger. The official Call of Duty Twitter account teased an increase to 200 players, a major increase from its current 150 player maximum, as part of the "Season 4 Reloaded" update. Streaming service Twitch has temporarily suspended the account of President Donald Trump. Unlike some of the other recent bans it's handed out, it offered more specific reasoning for this move, perhaps due to the high-profile nature of the action. The company pointed to its policy on hateful conduct and even cited specific violations from past streams, which both involved the broadcast of Trump campaign rallies.In a statement shared with GameSpot, a Twitch spokesperson said, "Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed." Crysis Remastered was officially revealed with a teaser a few weeks ago, but this week we'll finally get to see exactly what the nearly 13-year-old game will look like with some improved graphical features.The gameplay debut for Crysis Remastered is set for July 1 and will go live at 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT / 6 PM CEST. AMC Theaters was planning on opening on July 15, but has decided to shift its plans, once again.The month of July was going to see two major releases during the month: Mulan and Tenet.
