Ahead of its next Xbox Series X stream reportedly taking place later this month, it's been discovered that Microsoft has renewed its trademark for RPG series Fable with the "intent to use".Trademark renewals aren't always indicators that a publisher intends to continue a series. In most cases it's simply just to retain the rights to the property in question. With an Intent to Use filing though, the requirements for the renewal change. Microsoft has to prove that it has the intention to use the mark in commerce within the next six months, or file for an extension.Under the rules of the filing, Microsoft can request an extension up to five times, which means this latest filing could be stretched over the next three years. The filing was made on June 26 (spotted by IGN) and is still pending, but its timing could not be more coincidental with the next Xbox 20/20 stream just around the corner. Microsoft has confirmed that the event will showcase first-party exclusives for the Xbox Series X, with Halo Infinite headlining the show.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A TV adaptation of the Fallout series is on the way, and it's coming to Amazon. The news was announced with a brief teaser trailer that doesn't reveal any specifics, but it has been confirmed that Amazon has acquired the rights to a Fallout TV show--and that some of the key talent behind Westworld will be working on it. Here's what little we know so far, but be aware that it sounds like this is still early days for the series.Although the teaser video itself is vague, this is a TV series adaptation, and according to Bethesda, it's already received a series commitment. The show is coming from Amazon Studios and Kilter Films. Westworld's Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will be working on the project, which is said to have received a "substantial series commitment."We don't yet know most of the critical details, such as the cast, director, or release date. There's no indication that it'll be a direct adaptation of any of the games, but the announcement acknowledges some of the iconic elements, such as the "harsh tone" that is "sprinkled with moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies." It will also still feature "the harshness of the wasteland set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

MTV Studios has announced it will be reviving Clone High, the short-lived but widely loved 2002 animated series about--as the name suggests--a high school whose student body is comprised entirely of clones of famous historical figures. Co-creators Bill Lawrence, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller will be re-uniting to develop the revival.According to a Viacom release, series writer Erica Rivinoja will serve as showrunner, and will also be co-writing the pilot with Lord and Miller. Since Clone High, Lord and Miller have become filmmakers perhaps best known for The Lego Movie and its sequel, as well as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and its forthcoming 2022 sequel. Lawrence went on to create the Emmy-winning Scrubs and Cougar Town.Clone High was a time capsule of the early 2000s, both a parody, satire, and celebration of emo culture. It's unclear how many episodes of this update will be put into production, or when they might air. But the release indicates that the characters Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and John F. Kennedy will be returning--though it's also unclear whether their original voice actors (including Will Forte, Nicole Sullivan, Christa Miller, and Michael McDonald) will be reprising their roles. No network has yet been named for the series.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With the games industry continuing to see a swath of allegations levied against prominent figures, the fighting game community is reckoning with its own wave of sexual misconduct accusations. One such allegation has been brought against Evolution Championship Series founder and president Joey "MrWizard" Cuellar, and the company has placed him on administrative leave following a pending investigation.According to a statement by Twitter user PyronIkari (who only goes by Mikey), Cuellar had engaged in inappropriate and predatory behavior with underage boys during the mid-to-late '90s. Cuellar had egged Mikey to reveal himself for $20-$40 worth of tokens. As Mikey put it in his story, "Wizard was especially into this. He would pay people hundreds of tokens to do things like take off their clothes and jump in the water hazard pools for certain amounts of times. 99% of the time, it was young boys."The official Evo Twitter account confirmed that Cuellar was placed on administrative leave amid the rising accusations. "We are aware of the accusations that have been made against Joey Cuellar," the statement reads. "The behavior in these accusations runs directly counter to Evo's mission of building a safe, welcoming environment for all of our players and attendees. We take this responsibility seriously. Accordingly, Joey has been placed on administrative leave pending a third-party investigation."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This week on Wrestle Buddies, GameSpot's professional wrestling podcast, Chris E. Hayner and Mat Elfring are spending quite a bit of time in the past and welcome some special guests for what is sure to be a very bizarre episode. This installment also features the return of our weirdest segment yet, Wrestlepiece Theatre.First up, we talk about the infamous Kennel from Hell match that WWE presented in the late '90s. More than that, though, we figure out how a feud over the Hardcore Championship ended up there. You might be shocked to find out it involved one wrestler cooking another's dog and feeding it to them. The Attitude Era: There really is no low it won't stoop to.Then, Chris and Mat jump to WCW and spend a bunch of time talking about the Dungeon of Doom, which is both a group of very silly villains and the lair they hang out in. The Dungeon of Doom existed only to destroy Hulk Hogan and tried to do it with monster trucks, a yeti, and even "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

35 years ago, one of the most memorable sci-fi movies of the '80s was released: Back to the Future. To celebrate more than three decades of people yelling "1.21 Gigawatts," Hasbro is having the iconic car from the film--the DeLoreon--become a Transformer because why not?The latest Autobot in disguise is named Gigawatt--because of course it is. In robot mode, it stands at 5.5 inches and transforms from robot to car in 17 steps. Check out the photos of the new Transformer and its packaging below.I'm so confused and excited at the same time. The Gigawatt toy will be available for pre-order on Walmart very soon. There will only be 1,985 of them made--which is the year Back to the Future was released. On October 1, 2020, a variant of the Transformer will be available through Hasbro Pulse.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Haven, the next game from the makers of Furi, is a co-op RPG with a focus on being relaxing. Detailed in a PlayStation Blog post, Haven tells the story of a couple, Yu and Kay, exploring a deserted planet. While Haven is a co-op RPG, developer The Game Bakers wanted the experience to be simplistic and relaxing, avoiding many of the complex systems typically found in the genre. The game doesn't feature a quest list, instead giving the main quest through the story and leaving all side stories to be discovered through exploration."I love a hairy and dense RPG as much as anyone else. But sometimes, between these deep and exhausting systems you learn in games, it's good to take a little break," Emeric Thoa, creative director, said. "It's what we wanted to achieve with Haven. Make it a gentle breeze, a soft hand that will take you through its journey without asking you to care too much about details. In Haven, we only want you to care about Yu and Kay."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Amazon Prime Day is usually the biggest sales event of the summer, but this year's Prime Day won't happen until this fall. The sale has been delayed for the third time this year and is now planned for October, according to Business Insider. In an email sent to third-party sellers, Amazon indicated October 5 is now the "placeholder" day for the event, while a later email said this date change would be the final one.Concerns over whether Amazon would have enough stock for Prime Day arose earlier this year, according to a New York Times report, as factories in China were shutting down. Since then, we've seen Amazon Prime Day delayed first to August, then September. The company's logistical operations have been complicated by COVID-19, and the retailer is seeing increased demand once again as coronavirus cases across the US continue to rise, Business Insider reports. With the ever-changing situation around the coronavirus pandemic, it's probably safe to assume the October date is subject to change, but in any case, Prime Day (which would normally be kicking off in a couple of weeks) is still months away. The October 5 date puts it less than two months before Black Friday, meaning this fall is going to be a busy time for deals ahead of the holiday season.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ubisoft has entered the battle royale arena with the official reveal and technical test for Hyper Scape, and I know what you're probably thinking: another battle royale? In recent years we've seen so many come and go, with a handful that've stuck around with healthy player bases and ongoing support. It can be hard to imagine space for another one, but to its credit, Hyper Scape--which Ubisoft has been cooking up for two years--is trying plenty of new things to make it stand out.I was able to spend about three hours playing Hyper Scape alongside many other media folks prior to the game's announcement, experiencing full matches and coming to grips with the unique mechanics. And for all that it's doing differently--the revive system, scouting as a dead player, the oddball-style endgame, and overall pacing--it's clear that Hyper Scape is leaning heavily into faster, more aggressive play.In the heat of combat, I'm reminded of playing an arena shooter. My skill sets from the days of Unreal Tournament and Quake came through, because weapons like the Komodo rocket launcher, Salvo grenade launcher, and Skybreaker shock rifle aren't deadly one-hit shots. Instead, you're predicting movement patterns for splash damage and landing multiple hits before enemies are taken down. With everyone double jumping, launching off of jump pads, and hopping across rooftops, the action of Hyper Scape isn't necessarily about pulling up on unsuspecting opponents but beating them in high-flying head-to-head shootouts.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

An Apex Legends developer gave a thorough explanation of what's causing an issue with Loba's tactical on the World's End map with the Lost Treasures' patch. Loba's tactical ability is a teleport that lets her throw her bracelet and travel to it once it lands.Jason McCord, design director at Respawn, explained in a series of tweets why Loba's ability is failing more frequently on World's End than it should be. The game has triggers around cliffs on both maps to stop players from staying up there, which is why an out-of-bounds warning occurs when you land up there. Loba's bracelet is designed to fail when thrown into these zones to stop her from going up there. The issue on World's End stems from a slight difference in coding from Kings Canyon, with the triggers being grouped more on World's End than on Kings Canyon. McCord explained that Loba's tactical is failing when passing through the grouped triggers instead of only when landing in them.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
