I love two types of sci-fi stories: the ones that are very dark and heavy with themes about humanity's failures, and the ones that are corny and feel like the product of someone who thinks space is a playground for fun. Destroy All Humans is firmly in the second category, embracing its cheesy story and dialogue, creating an entertaining sandbox for destruction that's still satisfying 15 years after its first release, even if it's bogged down by poor audio quality and shallow stealth mechanics. The story plays out as a B-grade sci-fi movie set in the late '50s/early '60s. Over the six hours of campaign missions you'll laugh (or groan) at the majority of jokes and bad one-liners, making for an overall enjoyable experience. The premise of two aliens completely taking over America because humans are wildly incompetent is too ridiculous to take seriously, and the game embraces the absurdity well. The voice work from the original release helps up the camp level, but the reused dialogue raises a few issues. The audio quality is flat-out bad by modern standards; its low-fidelity really sticks out when paired with the updated graphics. The characters don't have very many lines, either, resulting in annoying repetition very early on. Be prepared to hear about communists hundreds of times before you're done.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While it's not part of the official Comic-Con@Home lineup, Rick and Morty had its own panel as part of Adult Swim's own convention, streamed live on Twitch. For the most part, the panel was a look back on Season 4, but that didn't stop co-creator Dan Harmon from teasing what's to come by showing the first footage of Season 5.Fans got a look at a cold open for an upcoming episode. While the animation was unfinished, it looked as though Morty was carrying a wounded Rick back to their ship, before escaping through a rapidly closing portal that sends them on a crash course toward the earth. Facing his own doom, Morty calls up his crush Jessica to confess his feelings, only to be shocked when it turns out she likes him back and asks him out to watch a movie. That's all it takes to convince Morty he needs to live and he manages to land the craft without killing himself and Rick, crashing it into the ocean. That, however, opens up a whole new problem as it puts Rick face-to-face with his nemesis Mr. Nimbus, who appears via a giant clamshell from underwater and carries a trident. There's little you find out about him, other than he likes to say his name a lot.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Halo Infinite is being marketed as a "spiritual reboot" for the series, continuing the story from Halo 5 but centering the action on a mysterious ring world like in the original game. Such a big change could have resulted in other major departures, such as recasting voice roles, but that won't be the case for the series' two biggest characters. The Master Chief will once again be played by Steve Downes, an actor whose low, measured tone has defined the hero since his first appearance nearly 20 years ago. He's joined by Jen Taylor, who voices both Cortana and Dr. Catherine Halsey, the researcher who lent her voice to Cortana when she was "born." Given the dark path Cortana traveled down in Halo 5, we expect to hear a lot of Taylor in Halo Infinite. There are a few newcomers that 343 Industries has revealed thus far, as well. "The Pilot," who does have a name that has not been officially revealed yet, will be played by Nicolas Roye. He has appeared in several other video games such as Resident Evil: Resistance earlier this year and Apex Legends. War Chief Escahrum, who is the Brute featured at the end of the campaign teaser, is played by Darin de Paul. He plays Reinhardt in Overwatch and also voiced the legendary J. Jonah Jameson in Marvel's Spider-Man.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone both still have a problem with cheaters, and developer Infinity Ward isn't tolerating it. In a new statement posted on its Twitter, the studio explained the steps it is taking to eliminate unfair play for the games, as well as what you need to avoid doing if you don't want to get banned.pic.twitter.com/G25uIEFcHd — Infinity Ward (@InfinityWard) July 24, 2020The full statement, which you can see above, explains that any bans are related to "unauthorized manipulation of game data" and any third-party software being used to mod or hack can result in a ban. Aimbots, texture hacks, and trainers are all banned, and you should not attempt to modify any of the camouflage patterns you've obtained, nor should you try to alter the memory on your system to get new gear.Because it has to maintain two games now instead of its usual one, Infinity Ward certainly has its work cut out for it. The standard Modern Warfare multiplayer matches are nothing like Warzone's enormous battle royale fights, but your actions are probably going to catch up to you if you attempt to cheat in either of them.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

You'll get to see Bill and Ted Face the Music yourself in September when the movie is released in theaters and on digital. However, at the movie's Comic-Con@Home panel, moderator Kevin Smith shared a truly exciting tease about something that happens in the movie. While discussing viewing the film for the first time, Smith let slip that George Carlin, who played Rufus in the first two movies, does appear in Face the Music. That is kind of a surprise, given that the comedian passed away in 2008. Rufus is in the final cut, though. As for how that's possible, chances are this has been done using archived and possibly unused footage from the first two films. It most likely won't be a major role in the film, though knowing Face the Music is going to pay tribute to a beloved character--and actor, for that matter--is reassuring.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

On Saturday evening of Comic-Con@Home, director/writer/pop culture mascot Kevin Smith held his annual An Evening With Kevin Smith panel, where he talked for an hour about his life, movies, and whatever. And he got bleeped (almost) every time he cursed, which was a lot.In total, throughout the 57 minute and 41 second panel, Smith was bleeped a total of 113 times. If you've ever been to one of these events, you know that Smith doesn't censor himself while talking. He lets the curses fly, and why shouldn't he? He's made a living crafting fantastically fun moments of dialogue revolving around 37 acts of fellacio (in a row?), overweight men in Batman costumes "flying," and transactional songs for purchasing marjiuana that open with numerous mentions of slang for coitus. And even though YouTube doesn't have guidelines for cussin', Smith was bleeped every moment a four or five or twelve letter swear word came out of his mouth. Within the first two minutes of his panel, Smith was bleeped seven times, averaging 3.5 bleeps per minute (BPM) or 210 beeps per hour. At 11 minutes, Smith wracked up 36 bleeps, and he had slowed a bit to 3.27 BPM.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Day 1 of Pokemon Go Fest 2020 has wrapped up, but there's still a lot happening in the game this weekend. Here's what you can expect.Team Go Rocket TakeoverTeam Go Rocket are making their presence felt during Day 2 of Pokemon Go Fest 2020. The villainous team will be appearing in their Rocket balloons and taking over PokeStops much more frequently than normal throughout the day, and all players--even those who haven't purchased a Go Fest ticket--will have a chance to battle them.Fittingly, the Pokemon Go Fest confetti raining down on the map will be replaced by Team Go Rocket confetti during Day 2. On top of that, you'll be able to use Charged TMs to replace Frustration with a different move. This apparently will only be possible for a limited time during Team Go Rocket takeovers, so take advantage of the ability to do so while you can.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Halo Infinite is a launch title for Microsoft's next-generation console, the Xbox Series X, but it's also coming to the relatively less powerful Xbox One. Not only that, but the game will also be released on PC. This multiplatform release strategy is far different than 2015's Halo 5: Guardians, which was only released on Xbox One (before a scaled-back edition came to PC for free).343 studio head Chris Lee recently spoke about this multiplatform development, saying it was made possible thanks to Microsoft's investment in its new SlipSpace Engine."When we started building Halo Infinite we knew we had to really invest in our technology to achieve the ambition that the vision of this game had. So we invested a lot in our SlipSpace Engine," Lee said during a recent interview. "We've been developing it over time with the idea and the concept of being cross-platform so we could support the Xbox One family of devices, the Xbox Series X, and of course, PC when we release on Steam as well."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Initial reports suggested that Halo Infinite will offer four-player local split-screen support for its campaign mode, but this is not the case. 343 Industries head of design, Jerry Hook, said on Twitter that Infinite will support two-player split-screen locally. Up to four players can play the campaign together online, however."Sorry about the confusion," Hook wrote. No details about split-screen support for Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode have been announced yet.Hey everyone I saw some reports of campaign supporting 4 player Split screen for campaign and just want to correct. Halo Infinite will be supporting 2 player split screen and 4 player online co-op for campaign. Sorry about the confusion. #haloinfinte — jerry hook (@hookscourt) July 25, 2020Halo Infinite simply having split-screen is a big deal because 343 controversially left it out of Halo 5: Guardians. Xbox boss Phil Spencer says only a small percentage of people play local split-screen in Halo games, so that's why the feature was cut for Halo 5.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD was recently announced for a 2021 release on Nintendo Switch and PS4. The game, which is a remaster of the PS2 RPG first released in Japan back in 2003, debuted a quick trailer during July's Nintendo Direct Mini. But now, thanks to a new stream, we have much more footage of the game to see how its art style holds up.In a July 23 livestream, Atlus showed off the game at length, and while all of the discussion is in Japanese (without subtitles) there's a whole heap of footage to dig into. From 40:35 onwards in the video below, the focus shifts from the series at large to the upcoming HD remaster. As the discussion continues on, footage from the remaster plays in the background. This gives us a better look at how the game's style has translated, and the work that is going into the remaster. It looks like the new game's visual style won't be so different from the original, but it has held up pretty well.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ghost of Tsushima, the recently released PS4 exclusive, relies heavily on sound to guide players and flesh out its 13th century Japanese setting. As you might expect, getting the sound just right took a lot of work and tools--and the sound is even more important than you might realize while playing.Over at A Sound Effect, the game's audio director Rev. Dr. Bradley D. Meyer and its senior sound designer Josh Lord have delved into the game's sound design, and how they captured the sounds of the era. They also explained how sound is used to guide the player through the open world.Meyer reveals that the sound of the wind, which guides players, is even more intricate than it might seem. "We built a system where the sound travels on three splines pointing towards the player’s current objective, one centered over the player and one on either side spaced about 5 meters away," he says. "These wind gusts are all reactive to the current environment the player is in. So if you’re skirting a grassland on one side and a bamboo forest on the other, the wind will sound like tall grass rustling on your one side and clacking bamboo on the other. This directionality helps players key into where they should be headed as they traverse the island."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
