Craig Mazin, the Emmy award-winning writer behind Chernobyl and The Hangover movie series, is working alongside Neil Druckmann on The Last of Us TV show for HBO. He's now shared some intriguing new details about what to expect, including that the show will feature storylines that Druckmann originally had in mind for the game that didn't make it for one reason or another.Speaking to the BBC (via Eurogamer), Mazin reflected on a conversation he had with Druckmann, who shared an anecdote with him about something that was cut from the game.Mazin said Druckmann told him, "There was one thing we were talking about for a while, and then he told me what it was, and I was like ... jaw drop ... OK ... that's going in. For sure, we have to do that. You will have to shoot me to stop me from doing that."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Forza Horizon 3 is, like past Forza games, going to be made unavailable for digital purchase soon. The open-world Australia-set racer will be removed from sale, just as Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 6 (and earlier entries) before it. The game and all its DLC will be removed from sale, although they'll be available for download in perpetuity. The game's approaching delisting was announced on Twitter, although a fan on forum Resetera noted the discount and came to the correct conclusion earlier.Forza Horizon 3 is headed towards "End of Life" status, and we're celebrating the Australian festival with a sale on the Standard and Ultimate Editions! Visit https://t.co/2IZtzgkotM for all the details! pic.twitter.com/fM7HugVtCh — Forza Horizon (@ForzaHorizon) August 11, 2020While no specific reason has been given for the game being delisted, it's likely to be a licensing issue relating to the cars included in the game. With Forza Horizon 4 now the flagship title in the series, it seems likely that the cost of renewing those licenses would be prohibitive. There's a possibility that the game's soundtrack is an issue, too, as music licenses are often only assigned for a select period of time.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rocket League is set to transition to a free-to-play title soon, and while a date has not been set, the "summer" time frame promised is nearing an end. The game will also feature cross-progression between platforms, which means that, for instance, you'll be able to play the game on Switch without losing any of the parts or cars you've collected on PlayStation 4. Now, ahead of this update, developer Psyonix has detailed how all of this will work.Your Competitive Rank, Rocket Pass progress, and inventory will carry over, but you'll need to have an Epic Games Account. After the update, you'll be asked to log in to your Epic account, and then to set a Primary Platform that will determine which version of the game you'll be carrying progress over from. If you've been playing the game on both PC and PS4, for instance, you'll want to pick the version you've earned more items in.Doing this will also immediately earn you the Chopper EG Wheels for your cars. Alternatively, you should be able to keep progression separate by not logging in to Epic. if you so desire.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

FIFA 21 is bringing some changes to its Pro Club mode, letting you customize your teams and tactics far more than you could in the past. Players who like to solo Pro Club, or just play in small groups, will find that they have some more control over teammates, and a lot more input on their appearance.Pro Club is an online mode where players control one player on a team they have created themselves--and you can play with as many as 22 players, or as few as two. In a new update on the FIFA website, EA Sports explains that you'll be able to customize AI players in your Club for FIFA 21. This refers specifically to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game, although this could just be a case of EA being cagey about how FIFA 21 will be different on next-gen in the lead up to its release. In this year's entry, a "Manage" section in the Pro Clubs menu will let you change the appearance, name, and kit of every player on your virtual team. You can name and create your friends, or a team that pays tribute to your favorite TV show, or just design a team of folks with strange faces, if you want.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Microsoft's marquee Xbox Series X launch title, Halo Infinite, has been delayed to 2021. Developer 343 Industries said the shift to a work-from-home environment was one part of the reason behind the delay, and that it will give the team the time to "deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision."Needless to say, the internet had a lot to say about the delay, and we're rounding up some of the hot takes people have put out on social media.Halo Infinite is now scheduled for release in 2021, but a more specific date has not been announced yet. The delay is big news because Halo Infinite would have been the first Halo game to release as a launch title for new Xbox hardware since the original Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The world is full of spots. They invite you, seducing you into skating on them. A great skate spot encourages you to nail a line of tricks on it, pushing you to keep trying after every bail. An expertly placed ramp that leads you to a rail and down a flight of stairs is one of the many Mona Lisas that skaters strive for. The idea of successfully conquering said spot is what drives them to push themselves, learn from their mistakes, and grow. It's all about the location, something some skateboarding games have nailed for over two decades. And while newcomer Skater XL has a good foundation for its trick system, it fails to inspire the practice of those mechanics on its small number of largely lacklustre levels.Skater XL's trick system is easy to understand and rewarding to learn. Each analog stick is assigned to a foot, and your job is to twist and push those sticks to pull off a cavalcade of tricks. A kickflip requires you to pull the right stick (your right foot) back, snap it up for an ollie and then kick the board with your left stick (left foot) to cause it to flip. It's an engaging way to perform the simplest tricks, and while it may sound complicated, Skater XL's physics give you a lot of room for nailing tricks. At times, it feels somewhat weightless and more like you're controlling a board with no one on it than an actual person that has to twist their body and manipulate the board with their feet. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as many games have utilized less-than-realistic physics to create great skateboarding power fantasies. Unfortunately, Skater XL's levels aren't the interesting playgrounds for your skateboarding endeavors that they need to be for a compelling experience.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As we prepared to take on Risk of Rain 2's final boss, we took a moment to take stock of our Survivors. My co-op partner had three syringes filled with glowing green slime jutting out of his hip, a sword at his side and a crown on his head. A leech was suctioned onto my head, a teddy bear stuck to my shoulder and John Lennon glasses stretched around the front of my domed helmet. Each of these baubles represented a perk we had acquired over the course of our headlong rush to the final boss. This is the kind of game Risk of Rain 2 is. At the end of a run, you can see every advantage that you have collected, all hanging off of your once-simple character model like fuzzy dice on a car mirror. And, as it launches into 1.0, Hopoo Games' third-person shooter roguelike has a year-and-a-half of early access in its rearview. I didn't play the game during pre-release, so I can't testify to how much content this version adds to what was already there. But I can say that Risk of Rain 2 is a breakneck experience that builds and builds and builds. This is not a game of peaks and valleys. Risk of Rain 2 is all climb until you reach the summit. That's its greatest strength--and its only real notable weakness. Each run begins with your Survivor emerging from an escape pod onto a hostile alien world. This landscape is largely empty. Lo-fi music plays. It's generally pretty chill and evocative for the first few seconds. But then you're assaulted by a horde of low-level creatures. At the top right corner of the screen, a meter slowly moves right, upping the difficulty from Easy to Medium to Hard (and up and up and up until the difficulty bar just reads "HAHAHAHAHA") as a run progresses. Each level ends when you find and activate a teleporter, summoning a boss monster, which you must defeat to use the portal. In between entrance and exodus, Risk of Rain 2's world is full of interesting decisions and secrets. You may want to sacrifice half your health at the Altar of Blood for rewards down the line. Or you might summon double the boss monsters for a shot at double rewards. Get lost long enough in your search for the teleporter and you may find an underground passage where you can find a hidden code etched on a tablet, which can be used to access a secret realm. As you explore, the world is gradually filling up with enemies; the music is, smartly, slowly building to an all-out guitar-wailing crescendo.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Although last year's Splatocalypse event marked the end of regular Splatfests in Splatoon 2, Nintendo is holding another bonus event in the game this month. The bonus Splatfest kicks off next Friday, August 21, and much like May's one-off event, it's a repeat of a previous theme. This month's event gives players another chance to settle the age-old question: which came first, the chicken or the egg? You can choose a side from the terminal in Inkopolis Square and earn points for your team by taking part in Turf War matches during the event period. Team Chicken emerged victorious when this Splatfest was originally held back in March 2018, but players have a chance to rewrite history. This month's Splatfest runs until 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET on August 23. Everyone who participates in the event will earn Super Sea Snails, which can be used to add a new ability slot to a piece of gear or re-roll one that has already been maxed out. At least two more bonus Splatfests will be held before the end of March 2021, Nintendo has confirmed, although no other details about those events have been announced just yet.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Animal Crossing: New Horizons player and Redditor lazyleiz held a memorial for her father, who would have been 68, in the small town simulator. They scanned an image of him into the game to display on an easel, designed custom fireworks, and set up a special area to honor him."I held it completely in Animal Crossing! My siblings and I are located all over the map and Animal Crossing has surprisingly turned into a place for us to virtually gather," lazyleiz told GameSpot. "I created the memorial in June for Fathers Day, and I've enjoyed surprising my siblings with little parties there."Yesterday would have been my dad's 68th birthday. I was so thrilled to have the option to do custom fireworks for his virtual birthday party at his memorial 🎊 Thank you, Nintendo! from r/AnimalCrossingThe pandemic has made mourning more difficult as families and friends can't always be together. Families have had to plan and hold their funerals virtually, although some have opted to use Animal Crossing and Zoom to gather and remember those they've lost.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
