Developer Motion Twin has issued a new update to Dead Cells, adding loads of new features and an entirely new biome, along with an 8-bit style soundtrack. The "Barrels o' Fun" update is now available on PC, and it will follow on Xbox One, PS4, and Switch sometime this summer.A new biome called the Derelict Distillery is an old broken down atmosphere with broken bottles and pipes venting steam. The new environment includes explosive barrels, which some of the new enemies will make use of by throwing them right at you or just jamming them into the ground and then jumping out of the way. Another new enemy type, the mimic, looks like a barrel and might catch you by surprise.To help deal with these new threats, you have access to a few new weapons. It's official: New York Comic Con will not be happening this year. Instead, like San Diego Comic-Con in July, it will be replaced by an entirely virtual event hosted on YouTube. The star of the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series will join as a playable operator in a fellow Tom Clancy series as part of its forthcoming Operation Shadow Legacy update.Details on how he'll function in Siege--each operator has their own distinct gadgets that make them unique--have yet to be revealed. Daybreak Games, the developer of PlanetSide 2 and the EverQuest franchise, has acquired Cold Iron Studios. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but this is a big deal because it means Cold Iron's new Alien game has found a home and will still see the light of day.This all came into question after Disney acquired Fox, thus assuming ownership of Cold Iron's previous owner, FoxNext Games. The mobile game company Scopely acquired Cold Iron Studios earlier in 2020, at which time the studio said it planned to sell the developer.That has now happened, with Daybreak acquiring Cold Iron and the Alien game they were working on.
