We've reached a bit of a lull in the year in terms of Nintendo Switch releases, but while we don't yet know what major first-party games Nintendo may have planned for this fall, there are still plenty of gems on the platform just waiting to be discovered. One such game is AI: The Somnium Files, a mystery-driven adventure game that released late last year. Normally $60, this excellent game has seen its first permanent price drop at one retailer, and it's a big one--Best Buy just slashed the price on AI: The Somnium Files to $30.This permanent discount matches the lowest price we've ever seen for the game; recently, it was $30 in an eShop sale (that has since ended). So far, Best Buy is the only retailer that's currently offering this price, and all the digital stores (the Eshop, Steam, PSN) still have it listed at $60, so this is a fantastic deal worth taking advantage of. AI: The Somnium Files $30 (was $60) Released in September 2019, AI: The Somnium Files is discounted to $30 for Nintendo Switch at Best Buy. It's also available on PS4 and PC for full price. See at Best Buy AI: The Somnium Files comes from the creators of Danganronpa and Zero Escape, and it takes those dark, puzzle-oriented themes in a new direction. The game follows detective Kaname Date, who leads a team that investigates murder cases. Date uses an artificial intelligence named Aiba that allows him to investigate crime scenes at a detailed level, including X-ray vision and zooming. Date can also enter the memories of suspects or witnesses to find more clues and additional info--but these dreamscapes collapse after six minutes, and certain interactions will cause you to lose a chunk of time, so careful calculation is needed to find the info you need.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Next-generation consoles are nearly upon us. Both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are coming before the end of the year--the new Xbox is now confirmed for November--meaning we're no more than three months away from having new consoles in our hands. Despite that, we still don't know exactly when they're coming and, more notably, how much they'll cost. But you don't have to look that far back to see the wait for this information isn't unprecedented.Nintendo Switch launched on March 3, 2017, but it wasn't until January 12--less than two months earlier--that Nintendo shared a price or release date. That's 50 days before launch! It's wild to think that news came so late in the game, but that didn't stop the Switch from selling out when pre-orders went live just hours after the date and price were announced (though there were some available at launch). Likewise, Xbox 360's price wasn't announced until mid-August, just three months before launch.I've seen people continue to express astonishment that such critical details about PS5 or Xbox remain unknown at this late stage. And I get it: Who can forget PS3's "five-hundred and ninety-nine US dollars" at E3 2006, five months before release? We heard about pricing for PS4 and Xbox One back to back during E3 in June 2013, again, five months before they hit store shelves. While this year may not have seen an E3, we have already gotten events from both Sony and Microsoft that effectively served as substitutes for their usual E3 press conferences, and yet these details remain unknown as of mid-August.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Wednesday night, ABC's Agents of SHIELD, aired its series finale, bringing a run of 136 episodes and seven seasons that kicked off in 2013 to a close. It was a stretch of time and programming so long that many viewers may have missed how the series has impressively shifted, adapted, and worked to complement the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has been unfolding in parallel in theaters. The finale, spreading across two episodes ("The End Is at Hand" and "What We're Fighting For"), cleanly lays out something the series has done some legwork to avoid directly addressing: The show takes place in a timeline distinct from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though it also has had direct connections to specific movies, including 2019's Avengers: Endgame. In the finale, Leo Fitz, an agent of SHIELD. who specializes in engineering and weapons technology, surfaces after a mysterious season-long disappearance. An eagle-eared writer at The Wrap noticed some interesting language Fitz used when reuniting with the other agents: His emphasizing or using certain phrases like "our world" and "multiple dimensions" to explain how the events of SHIELD's timeline fit into a bigger scheme of things. The final season repeatedly touched on the idea of multiple dimensions, and critics at The Wrap and elsewhere are taking this to be a confirmation that the show's timeline is distinct from the MCU.Uproxx further connected dots between the ABC show and Endgame by highlighting Fitz's traveling between timelines through Quantum Realms." Uproxx explains: "The Quantum Realm is the show's most direct connection to Avengers: Endgame, as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp, as it was used by the Avengers to undo Thanos' universe-upsetting Snap."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Epic Games has premiered a new short film called Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite that runs less than a minute long and says that it has "defied the App Store monopoly." The video was showcased in Fortnite's Party Royale mode shortly after Epic Games sued Apple. The lawsuit came in response to the App Store removing Fortnite after Epic Games introduced a new direct payment method that violated the App Store's guidelines."In retaliation Apple is blocking Fortnite from a billion devices," the screen read during the short. "Join the fight to stop 2020 from becoming '1984.'" Viewers were then encouraged to use a #FreeFortnite hashtag on social media to encourage Apple--which says it will work with Epic to bring the game back to the App Store--to change its policies. The commercial appears to be a play on Apple's Macintosh commercial that aired in 1984. That commercial introduced the Apple Macintosh personal to the world and claimed that it would help people realize why "1984 won't be like '1984,'" referencing the famous George Orwell novel. Epic Games is clearly mocking Apple for their policies on the App Store.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hitman III developer IO Interactive surprised fans when it announced last week that the entire trilogy of stealth titles will be compatible with PlayStation VR when it releases in January 2021 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The developer released a four-minute video that gives fans a better look at what to expect when stepping into Agent 47's virtual shoes. This includes a look at the additional freedom players will have when using the contracted killer's weaponry and how going first-person impacts the gameplay.Lead game designer Sidsel Marie Hermansen says playing Hitman in virtual reality feels like an entirely new experience. The immersive nature of VR is aided by the existing level of detail, and the studio making sure that each location feels like a lived-in world with characters that have their own routines. The developer describes the experience as being more "powerful" and that it's easy to get distracted by side conversations that take place."Every little thing wants to take center stage," senior game designer Eskil Mohl explains. "Before in the third-person game, maybe you got a little distracted from something else but now you can't escape them anymore. They're right in your face. I found myself traversing the levels slower and just taking everything in because it's so dense with detail."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
