The US Army esports team has returned to Twitch after voluntarily leaving the platform last month. The stream is still ongoing, but it opened with a long period of time in which a lone streamer sat on camera while viewers in chat spammed messages like "WARCRIMES."The chat flooded with messages about white phosphorus, the defunding of the USPS, US war crimes, and more as Chris "Goryn" Jones sat on camera awkwardly. He did answer some of the more straightforward questions, like who his favorite Twitch streamer is, between long, uncomfortable pauses. He eventually started playing World of Warcraft for around 1,500 viewers."Everybody has the ability to their own opinions," Jones said while browsing through chat messages. The stream started under the "just chatting" section on Twitch before he hopped onto the MMO.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Season 6 of Apex Legends is on its way, and with it come some new changes to the map. According to Apex's Design Director Jason McCord, these changes are meant to "inject some 'newness'" into the map and will create more viable play options in the lava fields, create better options for navigating rough chokepoints, and introduce a whole new map mechanic. The first notable change is the addition of the Launch Site, a new drop point that's now occupying a previously empty lava field. The Launch Site is another of Hammond Industries' concoctions, and features four different control rooms said to have a ton of loot, and a new passage so you can rotate through this part of the map like never before. This new area will also serve to provide a variety of traversal options, as it's near both the Dome and the Sorting Factory.Apex vets will remember the Drill Site. Well, it's being replaced by Countdown, another large Hammond facility whose purpose remains unknown. At its center is a pit that boasts some pretty stellar loot, but beware: if you aren't in control of this area before delving below, you may be in for a bad time. Countdown is built to be a pretty formidable fortress that even includes three user-operated blast walls that can be used to fortify the approach from Skyhook, Lava Train, and Train Yard. These walls are a new mechanic for the map that allow for new ways to attack and defend and can be found at Launch Site, Countdown, and Staging.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In the most recent bout of tech giant drama, Epic filed a lawsuit against Apple and Google after these two removed the Fortnite app from their storefronts, citing violations of their in-app purchasing policies. Not to be outdone, Facebook has now joined the fray as well.As reported by Bloomberg, Facebook took umbrage with the fact that Apple refused to waive their usual 30% take on in-app purchases when the social media site rolled out a new paid events feature in 20 countries. This feature would make it so that businesses can charge users for access to livestreamed activities, like fitness classes or lectures. According to the Facebook executive running the main app, Fidji Simo, the company will not be taking any cuts from the revenue this feature generates. While Google also refused to waive their 30% fee, they are allowing Facebook to process payments through their own channels to avoid the fee, something Apple is decidedly against on their own platform. This has led to Facebook accusing Apple of hurting small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Over the past console generation, Xbox released the majority of its first-party games on PC, giving players the choice of where they want to play. Wanting PlayStation to follow suit is an obvious thing to ask for, but it wouldn't just be beneficial to players. PlayStation has one of the deepest, most beloved histories in gaming and is home to some of the most prestigious modern developers out there--a first-party PlayStation game launch is always an event. Releasing its games on PC would make each PlayStation launch an even bigger deal, with a whole new audience and section of the internet to pore over every detail. However, if the company plans to go forward with more PC ports, then PlayStation needs to do a better job of introducing PC players to its esteemed worlds.A strong first-party lineup has reinforced the company's image as the dominant console platform this generation. Its critically acclaimed releases garner a long-term affection that is rarely seen for single-player games--people are still playing and praising the five-year-old Bloodborne, for example. Even its less favourably received games are successful commercially, with Days Gone topping sales charts in the UK for weeks after its launch. And as of August 2019, it was the sixth highest-selling PS4 exclusive in the US, beating out Uncharted: Lost Legacy, Infamous: Second Son, and every MLB game.Horizon Zero Dawn is the third highest-selling PS4 exclusive, and when it came to PC in early August, the 3-year-old game proved popular. SteamDB recorded an incredible all-time concurrent player count of 56,557 players, and that's not counting anyone on the Epic Games Store. That's a lot of people playing a single-player game at the same time on one platform, and it's not even a brand-new release. It's easy to imagine how Horizon Forbidden West or the Demon's Souls remake would be even more popular, especially with day-and-date releases.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While it's highly unlikely we'll ever see Spider-Man, Batman, and the Winter Soldier in one movie, the Netflix film The Devil All the Time gives us the next best thing. Actors Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Sebastian Stan star in the upcoming drama, and the first trailer has been released. The Devil All the Time is based on Donald Ray Pollock's novel of the same title and is set in the Deep South. It spans several years after World War II and focuses on a young man named Arvin, played by Holland, a sinister preacher named Teagardin (Pattinson), and corrupt sheriff Bodecker (Stan). While the trailer doesn't really explain what the plot is, it looks like a mysterious and gripping movie, with lots of sweaty, intense acting. And while we've all see Pattinson play dark and weird before, it will be fascinating to see Holland step beyond the MCU into a very different film. Check the trailer out below. The Devil All the Time also stars Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road), Jason Clarke (Pet Semetary), and Bill Skarsgård (It). It's directed by Antonio Campos, who previously helmed the acclaimed movies Simon Killer and Christine, as well as episodes of the Netflix show The Sinner. It hits Netflix on September 16.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

There's never been a better time to get into Final Fantasy XIV. For almost two years, it's been my go-to game, but it was thriving well before I started. There's so much to do and so much to see, a lot of which is now free and doesn't require a subscription. With the entire base game, A Realm Reborn, and the highly regarded first expansion, Heavensward, available in the free trial, you owe it to yourself to give FFXIV a chance.I know, you probably have a lot of questions: Where do you even start? What are you supposed to be doing in the game? How are you supposed to keep up with other players? As someone who gets easily flustered by complex systems and multiplayer stress, trust me when I say FFXIV is not as overwhelming as it may seem.Although I've dabbled in MMORPGs in the past, having played some World of Warcraft in its early days and liked Anarchy Online way back when, nothing really clicked the way I hoped. But FFXIV has a hold of me unlike any other MMO, or game for that matter. Here, I want to help newcomers or lapsed players understand exactly what they're getting into, what makes FFXIV approachable, and why it's well worth your time.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

After almost five days of being nearly unplayable, Red Dead Online developer Rockstar is rolling back the game's most-recent update that has caused chaos for its players. The Red Dead Redemption 2 online adventure will now be restored to a previous July 28 patch. The patch, which came just a few days after Red Dead Online's large Naturalist content drop, was aimed at fixing some issues and plugging some security holes. It instead wreaked havoc online, reducing animal spawn rates, breaking simple camp interactions, and causing it to even rain alligators in some instances. It's unclear why Rockstar has taken so long to roll back the state of the game given how unplayable it became, but players should be greeted with a more-welcoming environment the next time they log on.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As time has gone on, the name "Sony" has come to telegraph a foothold in more and more aspects/areas in entertainment. With music, movies, and video games already established beachheads for the Japanese multinational headquartered in Tokyo, the corporation has been making it increasingly clear that now it intends to branch out into anime as a new, fourth major pillar.According to a report from Nikkei Asian Review, Sony will be "leveraging the combined strength of group companies to expand its animation business overseas," or to unify its existing entertainment businesses to help an anime-focused initiative land internationally. The tip of the spear of this new strategy has technically already landed: Sony subsidiary Aniplex has already helmed an adaptation of the Demon Slayer manga, which successfully landed and found an audience via Adult Swim's Toonami programming block in 2019. Aniplex will be teaming with Sony Interactive Entertainment to develop videogame adaptations for both PlayStation and mobile platforms. This methodology will also extend to bringing future TV anime projects to the U.S., and supplemented further by Sony Music Entertainment (Japan)'s exclusive record label for anime songs.Nikkei predicts a future project, Demon Slayer, may help define the mold for how these different subsidiaries will work in concert together: "Aniplex President Atsuhiro Iwakami wants to make the series a showpiece of Aniplex's prowess," according to Nikkei Asian Review. "It has already turned the manga into a successful anime, and will now follow with a movie version due out in theaters this summer. Units of Sony will also morph the anime into games for mobile and PlayStation 4, with the possibility of promoting it abroad."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
