An update for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone has been released, and it fixes a weapon model corruption bug that caused them to display incorrectly on the screen. This also applied to sights found, making it quite a bit more difficult to play the game. If you're playing on Xbox One, be prepared for an enormous download to rectify this issue, as well.Available for download now, the patch is between just under 1GB and just under 2GB if you're on PS4 or PC. This applies to both the free Warzone client and the Modern Warfare client. On Xbox One, there was an "unforeseen bug" in Microsoft's patch delivery system that means you must download previous files, as well, bringing the file size for the patch to more than 66GB. Your full file size for Modern Warfare will sit at about 183GB after the patch, while Warzone will be at just under 100GB. Infinity Ward has an option to delete unused game content in order to get this file size down. The full patch notes are below, and the update comes as players are trying to piece together clues in Warzone and a new teaser website that seemingly points to the new Call of Duty 2020 game. It appears to be a Black Ops game set during the Cold War, and images and videos on the website show JFK, Fidel Castro, and East Germany prominently.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Two new legendary animals are roaming the wilds of Red Dead Online, and you can hunt them down now. The Legendary Red Streak Coyote and Legendary Midnight Paw Coyote are both in the game, with big money and extra XP available for delivering samples. That is, of course, if you don't want to turn them into coats that can make anyone's jaw drop. You can find the Red Streak Coyote near Pike's Basin, specifically on the cliffs and down on the canyon's floor. The Midnight Paw Coyote, meanwhile, is southeast of Strawberry, and Rockstar Games said it is distinguishable by having yellow eyes and black fur.You can take the pelts for each animal to Gus' Trapper Store in order to make coats, and if you make either of the coats before August 18, you'll also get one more free coat of your choice as a bonus gift. The Wheeler, Rawson & Co. catalogue had several items added as permanent additions, as well, including the Hinxman Hat, Blackgrave Coat, Corrales Shirt, and Molina Blouse.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While PlayStation seems to be doubling down on blockbuster single-player games and VR titles in the next console generation, Xbox is going for a rather different tactic. Xbox seems poised to corner the subscription service side of the games industry between Xbox Game Pass, Games With Gold, and xCloud (all of which is wrapped up in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate). It's an intriguing strategy, largely because it's so different from what PlayStation is doing.Sony wants you to buy the PlayStation 5 to play its exclusive first-party titles on the PS5, but Microsoft wants you to invest in its subscription services, with the Xbox Series X aimed at the hardcore crowd that care about doing so with cutting-edge tech. With that being the case, this wishlist will be aimed at both what I want out of Xbox's subscription services as well as the Series X console. Editor Phil Hornshaw has put together his wishlist for PlayStation 5, if you want to read up on what we want from Sony's next-gen console.Deeper Consideration For Promoting ID@Xbox GamesI've already written about how I hope the Xbox Series X sees the return of a service like Xbox Live Arcade, an online service for the Xbox 360 that curated the system's indie game library. With the release of the Xbox One, indie games were rotated into the same library as AAA titles and the weekly promotions for cool-looking new indie games stopped.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

For developer Davionne Gooden, and his project She Dreams Elsewhere, it's been a long road. He's worked on this retro-style RPG for four-and-a-half years at this point, starting back when he was just 18 years old, and he's admitted it's been stressful and that sleep has been hard to come by. But the work seems to be paying off between landing a deal with Xbox Game Pass and, honestly, creating something that's really promising. I was able to link up with him to talk about life as a developer in unprecedented times, and uncover more of this game that completely won me over at PAX East earlier this year."I thought I was going to have a pretty chill summer, just keeping my head down working on the game. And then at the start of June, here were all these opportunities, and they all have deadlines every single week," he told me when I asked about how development is going. While he's had outside support for aspects such music composition, character art, and PR, everything else falls on him as an independent developer. And in that regard, She Dreams Elsewhere is a sort of sharp reflection of Davionne himself. If you watch the gameplay clip above, you'll probably get a sense of his influences; when I played it at PAX East, it evoked feelings of Persona, Earthbound, and dare I say, Undertale. I told Davionne at PAX, "this is 100% my shit!" and we proceeded to share our love for Persona 3, in particular.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The PlayStation 5's release is quickly approaching, but there are still quite a few details we don't know about Sony's next console. What we do know is that it looks enormous, seems like it was made out of the same stuff as Neo Midgar in FF7 Remake or Alan Tudyk in I, Robot, and comes with a spiffy new version of Sony's usual controller design. Apart from elements that are becoming standard, such as a solid-state drive, more power for visuals, and vastly decreased load times, we don't really know what to expect from the PS5 when we actually use it.We do, however, know about the PlayStation 4--specifically, everything that's wrong with it. Seven years after the release of the current generation of gaming hardware, we've seen different versions of the PS4 pop up, we've seen trends come and go (miss you, weird and terrible motion control games), and we've listened to that PS4 fan. God, that fan is loud. With the PS5 imminent, I've (briefly and without a lot of understanding) looked over the specs and (at length, with smoldering irritation) stared at the PS4's menu UI. Here are some things I want from the PS5 based on the shortcomings of the PS4, pie-in-the-sky desires that are probably technologically impossible, and random ideas that popped into my head while waiting for Fall Guys servers to clear up. You should also check out our wishlist for the Xbox Series X, as well.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

An investment platform is planning to sell ownership shares in a rare copy of Super Mario Bros., which it has valued at $150,000. The particular version of the game is a sealed 1987 "hangtab" edition rated at a near-perfect 9.8 A+ by Wata Games, one of only 14 factory-sealed copies in existence according to the video game grading company.Purchased by Rally for $140,000 in a private sale, the company plans to sell 3000 individual shares in the game, starting on August 21. Each $50 share purchased will give investors partial ownership and the option to sell their shares in Rally's own marketplace. If the price of those shares plummet, Rally will liquidate its investment in the game and pay owners out, according to a decision made by their advisory board. When Super Mario Bros. isn't kept secure in a temperature-controlled vault in Delaware, Rally plans to display the game in their Soho museum in New York, or loan it out to other museums around the country where it will be on show.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Mission Impossible 7 is back in production, after coming to a halt in February during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, production recently had a major issue as a motorcycle burst into flames, and it wasn't intended. An action sequence that took six weeks to prepare and is one of the priciest stunts ever filmed in the UK--coming in at £2 million ($2.6 million USD)--had a major setback as a motorcycle caught fire, according to The Sun."This has been a massive challenge to stage and has cost a fortune, not to mention weeks and weeks of construction," an unnamed source told the newspaper. HBO Max has added a disclaimer that will automatically play before any viewing of the 1974 classic comedy film Blazing Saddles. The satirical Western is typical of madcap comedian and film director Mel Brooks, in that Blazing Saddles swings wildly, broadly, and has been long understood by critics to not shy away from potentially offensive content in pursuit of making a laugh and also a point.Similar to the additions HBO Max made to Gone With the Wind earlier this summer, the new three-minute disclaimer preceding Blazing Saddles features Turner Classic Movies host Jacqueline Stewart "ensur[ing] the film was put into the proper social context," according to a comment provided to The Hollywood Reporter.Blazing Saddles' racist language and bigotry is put into stronger context for viewers. Stewart, in the new intro, explains: "As the storyline implies, the issue of race is front and center in Blazing Saddles. And racist language and attitudes pervade the film. But those attitudes are espoused by characters who are portrayed here as explicitly small-minded, ignorant bigots. The real, and much more enlightened perspective, is provided by the main characters played by Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The NPD Group has released its latest sales results in the US for July 2020, which has seen another month of growth for the industry as consumers chose to focus on video games as they stayed indoors. Hardware sales slowed down slightly in July, but spending on game content reached $3.6 billion. This figure also includes a new metric from the NPD, in the form of "Video Game Content," which is a combination of microtransactions, downloadable content, subscriptions, and more."Consumer spending across video game hardware, content, and accessories totaled $3.6 billion in July 2020, increasing 32% when compared to a year ago," NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said. "Double-digit percentage spending gains in accessories, subscription, mobile, and both digital full game as well as post-launch spending on console and PC offset a slight decline in hardware. Year-to-date spending reached $26 billion, 21% higher than the same period in 2019. Content, hardware, and accessory spending are each over 20% higher when compared to the same period a year ago."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Horror streaming platform Shudder has released some great new scary movies over the past few months, including the stylish Indonesian supernatural horror Impetigore and the lockdown found footage hit Host. In October, the service will release the horror comedy Sundance hit Scare Me, and the first trailer has been released.Scare Me stars Josh Ruben, who also wrote and directed it, and Aya Cash, who can be seen in the upcoming The Boys Season 2. They play a couple who are spending the night in a spooky cabin on a rainy night, and decide to start trying to scare each other in a variety of ways. From the trailer it's hard to work out exactly how this will fill an entire movie, but it looks pretty funny. Check it out below. In a recent interview with Daily Dead, Cash spoke about the challenges of starring in a dialogue-heavy movie with very few actors and a single location. "I think it's really scary to do something like that," she said. "There's always editing, right? I think that's what actors don't realize, and we like to take credit for when we have a great performance. And editing does wonders. So you can craft a performance in an edit. So I always think of editing as the last catchall. But it's super scary to just show up and be like, 'We're just going to tell each other stories?'"Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Following news that Assassin's Creed Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail was fired from the company, new reports paint a grim picture of abuse that allegedly runs rampant across many Ubisoft studios.Over the past few weeks, Gamasutra has talked to dozens of former and current Ubisoft staffers at the Montreal (Valhalla), Quebec (Gods & Monsters), and Singapore (Skull & Bones) studios. Each testimony, all anonymous for fear of reprisal, calls out many of the same people for many of the same offenses.Hugo Giard (quest director, Gods & Monsters), Hugues Ricour (managing director, Singapore), Jonathan Dumont (creative director, Assassin's Creed Odyssey), Jordi Woudstra (former marketing product manager, Singapore), Justin Farren (former creative director, Skull & Bones), Marc-Alexis Cote (executive producer, Quebec), and Stephane Mehay (associated producer, Quebec) were all named for contributing to and perpetuating a culture of "fear and oppression" across the three specified studios. The executives are allegedly accused of various actions, such as leveraging their power to objectify women by asking them for kisses at work events (Ricour), using their physical appearance to intimidate women and especially new hires (Dumont), and sexually assaulting women by touching them inappropriately in and out of meetings (a widespread issue).Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
