It's been five months since the GameSpot offices closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and that means I've been sitting a lot more than usual, whether I'm working, gaming, reading, or engaging in pretty much any other activity inside my tiny apartment. All that sitting has led to some major back pain and stiffness, and when I finally have time for gaming at the end of the day, the last thing I want to do is sit on my couch for a few more hours. That's why I was intrigued to learn about the Moon Pod, an "anti-gravity" beanbag that claims to work wonders for "stress, anxiety, and all-day deep relaxation." I was also told the Moon Pod is popular with console gamers, providing a comfortable low-to-ground option that lets you sit closer to the TV. As someone who primarily games on PS4 or my docked Switch, I was immediately interested, especially with UI text screens seemingly getting smaller and harder to read from afar these days. The Moon Pod brand offers a range of different products, with its flagship product being the Moon Pod itself. The beanbag is filled with high-density beads that are meant to "mimic the sensations of Flotation Therapy," i.e. give you a feeling of weightlessness. It comes with a cover to compress the beanbag and give it its pod-like shape, and the cover is made of a soft, stretchy fabric to accommodate any movement. In addition to reducing stress levels, the Moon Pod claims to relieve back and neck pain by providing ergonomic support and adaptive flexibility. If that all sounds too good to be true, there's a major catch: The Moon Pod alone sells for $300, and if you're interested in any of its accessories, you'll pay even more.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Respawn has released the full patch notes for Apex Legends Season 6: Boosted, which starts soon. Season 6 doesn't implement in-game changes as big as Season 4 and Season 5 did, but there are some nice balancing adjustments for characters--especially those in the recon class.Starting in Season 6, all three recon characters (Pathfinder, Bloodhound, and Crypto) will be able to access survey beacons around the map to see where future circle closures will be. This ability was previously Pathfinder's unique passive, but now every recon character can use it. If done through his drone, Crypto can get the information instantly without having to take the time to jack into the beacon."Giving all Recon legends access to survey beacons makes Pathfinder less unique, and obviously we don't love that," Respawn writes in the patch notes. "For now, we're giving our friendly robot a small buff to his ultimate cooldown when he uses a survey beacon, but in the future we will take another look at Pathfinder to see what else we could do to make him feel more unique."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has rolled out a new patch for Splatoon 2. Update 5.3.0 arrives ahead of the game's bonus Splatfest event later this week, and it makes some balance adjustments to a variety of weapons in the game.In particular, a handful of guns have received nerfs of varying degrees. Rolling with the Dualie Squelchers and Custom Dualie Squelchers now eats up 8% of your ink tank (up from 5%), and the hit detection between their normal shots and players has been "very slightly decreased," making it a little harder to hit opponents (although the guns' hit detection after rolling remains unchanged). All three variants of the Bamboozler have also gotten a nerf; their ink consumption has been increased by approximately 20%. Meanwhile, ink droplets from the Splat Brella, Sorella Brella, and Hero Brella Replica now deal 16.2 damage (down from 18.0); following this tweak, Nintendo says the maximum damage dealt by a single shot from these three weapons is now 81.0 (down from 90.0). You can see the full list of balance changes below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Battle royales have only been around for a handful of years, and for the most part they've strictly stuck within the same genre of games. Whether you're playing Warzone, Fortnite, or Apex Legends, you're always shooting a gun and running from an encroaching circle, with the differences kicking up in the small variations to their established formulas. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, an extremely colorful and whimsical battle royale, is a great example of the genre growing outside of its roots. It's a far more approachable take on the multiplayer format, with simple controls and a variety of mini-games giving this competitive game show as much charm as they do tension.Playing as one of 60 multi-colored, jelly bean-shaped contestants, you compete in a joyous and comical race to be crowned the winner of Fall Guys' 15-minute matches. Each one is broken up by various mini-games, with handfuls of players eliminated after each one. These games all take on a variety of themes, from straight-forward obstacle course races to frantic team games where you're hoarding as many eggs as you can into a basket. The mini-games make good use of Fall Guys' easy-to-understand control scheme, which lets you jump, dive, and grab with ease. Combined with the adorably clumsy movement animations, charming game show presentation, and suitably electric (and fantastic) soundtrack, Fall Guys will quickly catch your attention both visually and aurally. The pickup and play nature of Fall Guys is one of its strongest aspects, along with its quick and entertaining games. It's never unclear when you need to jump over a gap or navigate through the hordes of contestants trying to reach the finish line before you. It's the type of game you can play in groups by passing the controller, with no need for a deep understanding of multiple mechanics to enjoy it. Its approachability lets anyone have fun with it, while its stages bring out glimmers of strategy for seasoned players to take advantage of.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

We're a week into Destiny 2's summer event, the Solstice of Heroes, but things aren't going as smoothly as Guardians and Bungie would probably like. A bug is afflicting the new event, messing up some of its rewards. As a result, Bungie has disabled a weekly challenge for the Solstice of Heroes, and we don't know when it'll be back online. The offending challenge is the one that rewards you with Powerful gear for heading to the special location that's part of Solstice, the European Aerial Zone. There, defeating bosses and unlocking Solstice Packages can earn you a weekly reward if you speak with Eva Levante in the tower. Bungie said on Twitter that those rewards aren't going out correctly. Until it's fixed, the challenge has been disabled--presumably to save you from wasting your time completing it, only to receive nothing. The EAZ Weekly Challenges have been disabled due to an issue causing Powerful Gear rewards to not be granted upon completion. We will provide more information as it become available. — Bungie Help (@BungieHelp) August 17, 2020 Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hitman III developer IO Interactive has outlined the modes coming to their assassin sequel, and if you've played the previous two games it's a familiar list. However, one mode isn't making the cut, and another will see some changes. In a post on their website, IO Interactive has given us some further details on Hitman III. Elusive Targets will return, meaning that there will once again be time-limited unique targets that you'll be able to track and eliminate as they pop up. However, the developer says that it is "making some changes to the Elusive Target formula," which will be revealed "at a later date." It's unclear what this means, or whether we'll have more than one chance to take down these targets in Hitman III.Escalations, Contracts, and Sniper Assassin are all returning. Judging by IO's descriptions, these modes will be largely the same as what we've already seen in previous games, although co-op will be cut from Sniper Assassin, making it a single-player only experience.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Persona 5 Royal released earlier this year, and if you've put in the 100+ hours to finish it but still want more Persona 5, you're in luck. Funimation has announced that they'll be streaming the series from August 18--and for the first time, you'll be able to watch it dubbed into English. The series is already available on Crunchyroll, but the English dub is exclusive to Funimation. The cast of the game has returned, so all the voices will be familiar to players of the game. All 26 episodes, plus two specials, will be available.Thankfully, you won't need to buy the extremely expensive Blu-Ray collection to see the series in English.Reception towards the show among Persona fans is largely mixed, but if you've been waiting for the English dub before checking it out yourself, you won't have to wait much longer now.Persona 5 Royal earned a rare 10/10 from GameSpot. "By refining what was already great and building on its best qualities with a brilliant new story arc, Persona 5 Royal asserts itself as an unforgettable and empowering RPG that should be recognized as one of the best games of our time," Michael Higham wrote in his review. Things that are popular are often targets for scams, and this is also the case for the whimsical battle royale game Fall Guys. Developer Mediatonic recently called out a YouTube channel that claims to have details on a mobile version of the game, but it's all a bunch of baloney. The developer confirmed on Twitter, "If you see any ads for a mobile version, they are scams." The video in question is not even a good fake, the developer said, because it's just the PC version pretending to be a mobile version--the mouse cursor is even in the video."I don't want to live on this planet anymore," the Fall Guys Twitter account says. Mediatonic does have hopes to bring Fall Guys to other platforms beyond PS4 and PC someday, but no plans have been announced yet.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's hard to separate talking about Mortal Shell from discussing the Souls games--Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice--because developer Cold Symmetry has obviously created a love letter to From Software's work. But Mortal Shell isn't a simple retread. It adds ideas and mechanics that shift your way of thinking about its duelist-style combat. Mortal Shell is a small-scale Souls-like game, demanding less of an investment of time and frustration. It feels tuned for more casual players--people who have been interested in this brand of experience, but who maybe struggled in the twitch reactions department--while still striking all the same essential nerves. You play a faceless, voiceless being dubbed "The Foundling," more akin to a spirit than a person, who leaves what seems to be a sort of astral plane in order to venture into a decaying, poisonous world known as Fallgrim. There, you meet various characters who give typically spooky, cryptic speeches about the gradual degradation of the world and the religious zealots who populate it. Practically, just about anyone you come across wants to murder you, and in your white spirit-ish form, you're little match for them--one hit will destroy you.To survive, you need a better body, which is where the name Mortal Shell comes from. You're able to inhabit the corpses, or shells, of some tough warriors you find along the way, which make you a little less prone to instant death. The four shells in the game each play a little differently from one another, providing a set of different character builds you can swap between as you play. Each also has unique special perks you can unlock in a typically Souls-like way by spending currencies you earn from killing enemies--currencies you can permanently lose if you're killed and don't retrieve them from your own dead body. The four shells keep Mortal Shell approachable, as you only need to learn how to handle each one (or just your favorite), rather than worry about developing the stats of an RPG-style character build.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

An update for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone has been released, and it fixes a weapon model corruption bug that caused them to display incorrectly on the screen. This also applied to sights found, making it quite a bit more difficult to play the game. If you're playing on Xbox One, be prepared for an enormous download to rectify this issue, as well. While you wait, you can start creating a Pepe Silvia conspiracy theory board to learn what this year's new game will be. Or are we just doing that? Available for download now, the patch is between just under 1GB and just under 2GB if you're on PS4 or PC. This applies to both the free Warzone client and the Modern Warfare client. On Xbox One, there was an "unforeseen bug" in Microsoft's patch delivery system that means you must download previous files, as well, bringing the file size for the patch to more than 66GB. Your full file size for Modern Warfare will sit at about 183GB after the patch, while Warzone will be at just under 100GB. Infinity Ward has an option to delete unused game content in order to get this file size down. The full patch notes are below, and the update comes as players are trying to piece together clues in Warzone and a new teaser website that seemingly points to the new Call of Duty 2020 game. It appears to be a Black Ops game set during the Cold War, and images and videos on the website show JFK, Fidel Castro, and East Germany prominently.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
