When I played Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout a year ago at E3, in an air conditioned trailer parked in the sunny parking lot occupied by Devolver Digital, I had a pretty good time with it. I'd always liked Takeshi's Castle, Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, Double Dare, and Wipeout--the kind of dumb TV game shows about people getting smacked in the face, from which Fall Guys obviously drew inspiration. I thought it'd be a fun game, but I wondered if it'd make much impact when it was eventually released.Obviously, I underestimated the die-hard spirit of a group of cute, bean-shaped competitors all trying desperately to climb a pastel Aggro Crag covered in spinning torture implements and spewing giant, crushing pieces of fruit. Fall Guys has managed to crash through the wall of the gaming zeitgeist where so many others smacked face-first into a false wall, only to fall behind and be forgotten. The goofy little party game where you can barely control your character well enough to be competitive has become the game of the summer.Given the state of the summer of 2020, honestly, it might be more surprising if Fall Guys didn't resonate with just about everyone. It's the perfect game for the moment.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Aegean Sea is a raging inferno. You may have heard tales of a great war between the ancient Greeks and the Trojans, a feud kindled by divine intervention, stoked by love and betrayal, and finally extinguished in an epic siege. In the newest Total War Saga, the Paris-Helen-Menalaus love triangle is the spark that doesn't just ignite the Trojan War of legend--it turns the entire eastern Mediterranean into a tinderbox. As a more focused, more specific take on Total War, Troy has an epic tale to tell. But to the benefit of the series' strategic legacy, Homer's writings set the scene rather than deliver a script, leaving plenty of room for those of us who haven't memorised The Iliad to enjoy crashing one enormous army into another and watching the world burn.At first, Troy seems a bit small. There's just the one map upon which the campaign is played. But that map is absolutely massive, taking in all of mainland Greece, a hefty slab of the western coast of modern-day Turkey and dozens of islands in between. The diverse geography provides a healthy mix of terrain types across the map, which in turn present different strategic challenges: The densely forested mainland is ideal for ambushes and funnelling armies through its mountainous corridors while the islands in the Aegean may be more exposed but any invading force is likely to have suffered attritional losses making the treacherous journey by sea.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rocksteady is one of the biggest game studios in the UK, being best-known for its work on the Batman: Arkham franchise. According to a new report from The Guardian, 10 of the 16 women at the studio signed a letter to their bosses in 2018 that accused management of allowing a culture of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior to fester. As an anonymous signatory to the letter revealed, it was initially kept private due to the company's secretive nature, as well as fears that the signers would be kept off the credits for the studio's upcoming Suicide Squad game. (This is a pervasive and justified fear in the games industry among vulnerable workers.) However, according to the report, since the letter was sent, management's response has been a single hour-long training seminar, and several of the signers have since left the company due to working conditions."I have heard everything from groping claims to incidents involving directors, all of whom are men," the signatory told the Guardian. "Yet the only thing we had as a result was a company-wide seminar that lasted an hour. Everyone who attended was asked to sign a statement confirming that they'd received the training. It felt that it was a just way for them to cover their arses."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters are still running rampant throughout Verdansk. Some are even selling accounts that are already verified with phone numbers, bypassing security features that Infinity Ward has implemented.Cheaters have been buying and selling accounts for the majority of Warzone's lifespan and it seems like none of Infinity Ward's efforts have prevented them from doing so. The Santa Monica-based studio added two-factor authentication, where players need a phone to use the free-to-play PC version of the game, back in May. Infinity Ward called it "another step to provide an additional layer of security for players."One cheater told Vice that the accounts being sold are being created through automation, meaning that some groups could be selling a high number of them.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Oculus is owned by social media giant Facebook, and the VR firm has traditionally kept its parent company away from its policy decisions. That's set to change. In a recent tweet, Oculus announced that all users must log in with a Facebook account when they use an Oculus device for the first time--and many people aren't happy with the news.Today, we’re announcing some important updates to how people log into Oculus devices, while still keeping their VR profile. Starting in October 2020, everyone using an Oculus device for the first time will need to log in with a Facebook account. // https://t.co/SMeDOXgehN — Oculus (@oculus) August 18, 2020According to follow-up tweets, existing users will have the option to merge their Oculus account with their Facebook account. If a user chooses not to merge their account, they can continue using their Oculus account until January 1, 2023, when the company will end support for Oculus accounts. Past that date, devices will continue to work, but not at "full functionality"--whatever that means. The policy change was met with widespread condemnation on social media, with many users saying that they're unwilling to merge their accounts, or that they deleted their Facebook accounts years ago. Oculus claims that the move will make it easier for users to "find, connect, and play with friends in VR." However, that's not enough to offset general displeasure with the use of Facebook, even prompting public responses from some prominent game developers. Among those to speak out is God of War director Cory Barlog, who shared his thoughts in no uncertain terms.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
