A new report from The Wrap claims that Game of Thrones and Star Wars actor Pedro Pascal is in talks to star in the Nicolas Cage movie where the actor plays himself. Pascal will play a "superfan" of Cage named Javi in the film, which is called The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The character Javi is "not all that he appears to be," the report says. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was announced in 2019, and it's got to be one of the more anticipated films in production, in part because of its absurd plot. Cage plays himself and gets mixed up with a drug kingpin and later becomes an informant for the CIA.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Comedy Central has canceled internet comedy talk show Tosh.0 ahead of its Season 12 premiere, as part of the cable channel's recent shift toward animated shows, the company has announced.Despite said focus on animation going forward, the Tosh cancellation still comes as a surprise, since Comedy Central just renewed the show for four more seasons in January this year. Variety cites "an individual with knowledge of the situation" who says ViacomCBS, Comedy Central's parent company (note: and GameSpot's), and series host Daniel Tosh are shopping the show around to other platforms. Whether anyone picks it up will depend on whether they think viewers still have the attention span for mean-spirited meme commentary in this day and age.Tosh.0 launched in 2009 and will hit 300 episodes during its twelfth and currently final season. During each episode, Tosh, a comedian, aims his biting wit against memes, viral videos, and other social media trends. The show often features flavor-of-the-week internet personalities as guests.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Phase 4 of the MCU may be getting a slower start than anticipated after movies like Black Widow and Eternals as well as shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier were delayed thanks to COVID-19 related shutdowns, but that doesn't mean every plan has hit pause. In fact, it would seem the behind-the-scenes work at Marvel is still full-steam-ahead with the recent announcement that Olivia Wilde will be joining the MCU to direct a movie featuring a new-to-live-action character in the Spider-Man family: Spider-Woman.This, of course, begs the question: Who is Spider-Woman? And perhaps more importantly, what could her introduction mean for the MCU?Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While it'll premiere on Smackdown tomorrow night, the first look inside WWE's Thunderdome staging at Orlando's Amway Center has arrived. The company did a test-run of their new arena setup, at which Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin was in attendance. Screenshots of the video from the event show a very different environment than that of the Performance Center that has housed Raw, Smackdown, and WWE's various pay-per-view events during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Amway Center has been filled up with a variety of video screens, including those that will show fans who are virtually attending the event. While it remains to be seen how the arena will look in motion, as virtual fans theoretically jump up and down screaming about how much they love Asuka, the images are impressive.pic.twitter.com/QVDY23nEXU — Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) August 20, 2020Firstly, WWE is wisely keeping the arena looking very busy--there are lights, video screens, and lasers everywhere. One of the biggest issues with the shows produced at the Performance Center is that it essentially looked like Raw and Smackdown were happening in a small dark room--which they were. This new configuration looks big and full of the kind of spectacle WWE is known for.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A bunch of content is leaving Destiny 2 in November with the release of the Beyond Light expansion, making this your last chance to play a bunch of content and earn specific rewards, at least for a while. Among those rewards are a couple of the best guns in the game: Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected. Both require you to complete special missions to unlock them, and both of those missions will soon be shelved. We've known that Bungie is cycling out some Destiny 2 content for a while now, and we've had some of the specifics ever since the announcement of the Beyond Light expansion. In its latest This Week at Bungie blog post, however, the developer made a bunch of smaller details a little clearer. Bungie explained that a bunch of activities will be going into the "Destiny Content Vault" to remove them from the game, and with those activities, their specific rewards will go too.Four planetary destinations are headed into the vault in November: Io, Titan, Mars, and Mercury, as well as the Leviathan location, which is home to several raids. Anything associated with those places is going into the vault as well. Since The Whisper, the mission you need to complete to earn the phenomenal Exotic sniper rifle Whisper of the Worm, is found on Io, it's going into the vault, too, and Bungie says there won't be a new, separate way to earn the gun in the meantime.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

"Well, crap," I mutter, as I begin to run. It's far too late of course. My pursuers have seen me and are now riddling my backside with bullets as I try to duck and weave among the environmental cover that's slowly deleting. And then I see it: my salvation. Around another player's corpse is a Hack pick-up with a circle on it. I quickly slide into it and pick it up, cackling with glee as I transform into a giant ball and bounce away from the squad chasing me.My laughter stops as I turn around and realize, to my horror, that every one of my pursuers has the Ball Hack as well. I continue to flee but I can hear the quiet thumps of their murderous bounces keeping pace with me.If you've ever played a battle royale game before, then the goal of Hyper Scape is an old song and dance by this point. Players begin each match by dropping onto a battlefield with nothing to their name, forced to survive by any means necessary--whether that's searching for the best weapons, hunting and killing enemy players, or avoiding and hiding from fights. As the match progresses, the battlefield shrinks, increasing the likelihood of firefights breaking out amongst the survivors. You win by being the last one standing.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In discussions of next-gen consoles, I often see the questions pop up: "Why would I get an Xbox Series X if I have a good PC and Game Pass?" or "I'm fine with the Xbox One X, why would I jump to a Series X?" Well yeah, why would you? Xbox, as a brand, kind of doesn't care if that Game Pass subscriber with a beefy PC buys the next console--that person is already in the Xbox ecosystem. And if you're cool with your One X, you're still buying games and likely subscribing to Xbox Live and/or Game Pass services as well.Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has made this approach quite clear over the past few years. And uh, he most recently reiterated it on Animal Talking, the Animal Crossing: New Horizon talk show hosted by Gary Whitta. On the show, Spencer said, "'How many consoles do I sell versus how many consoles does another company sell; Sony, or Nintendo, or other companies back in the day?' That’s not our approach. If that was our approach, we wouldn’t put our games on PC. We wouldn’t put our games on Xbox One. We wouldn’t do xCloud and allow people to play games on their phones."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Amazon's video game efforts so far have not been entirely successful, with the company's latest title, Crucible, failing to find an audience and recently returning to closed beta status. Now, Amazon Games is making another big move in gaming by partnering with the Korean developer Smilegate for a new game to be released in 2021. Smilegate developed the massively popular Crossfire game, which has a breathtaking 670 million registered users and reached a concurrent player record of 8 million people. Building off the success of the game in Korea, Smilegate partnered with Microsoft to bring a console version of the game, CrossfireX, to Xbox One. Amazon Games boss Christoph Hartman said in a statement that Smilegate is an ideal partner because the company makes the types of "growing online games" that Amazon is trying to develop.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hypnospace Outlaw, a beautiful and strange game with an affection for the Internet of old, is coming to Switch (as well as Xbox One and PS4). A demo is available now on Switch, so you can see how the game, which is largely set within a browser, handles with traditional controls. However, you'll also be able to play it with a full PC control set-up.On Twitter, Mike Rose--owner of publisher No More Robots--shared that the Switch version will support a keyboard and mouse. This was Nintendo's suggestion, apparently. You can play Hypnospace on Nintendo Switch, with a keyboard and mouse!(Nintendo suggested we do this, so we said yes ok haha)You can try it in the demo right now: https://t.co/JfPko0zfWc pic.twitter.com/OcAEZAL9Jx — Mike Rose (@RaveofRavendale) August 19, 2020The Switch only supports USB, not bluetooth, and you'll likely need to play docked to take advantage of this. In comments under the tweet, Rose also confirmed that the Switch version will support gyro and pointer controls.Another user asked if the Xbox version will support mouse and keyboard, and Rose said that it should, although they haven't tested it. Hypnospace Outlaw received an 8/10 in GameSpot's review of the PC version. "As an exploration of early-ish internet culture, Hypnospace Outlaw demonstrates how far we've travelled online over the past 20 years while at the same time asking whether we've gone anywhere at all," wrote reviewer David Wildgoose. The game will launch for Switch, PS4, and XBox One (through Game Pass) on August 27.Info from Gamespot.com

It's been nearly 30 years since the original Battletoads, and my memory of it boils down to three things: 1) It was made like an Arcade coin-muncher even though it came out on the NES. 2) The toads' eyes bulged out of their heads when you got to a boss. 3) There are hoverbikes, and they are loads of fun right up until the moment you start screaming. The 2020 version of Battletoads isn't afraid to mix things up. It's a nostalgia bomb that takes one of the original's core tenets, switching between beat-'em-up and platforming gameplay, and expands on it, while adding cartoon visuals and some story that introduces extra depth. Some aspects of the reinvention fall flat, but Battletoads is playful and inventive, and worth checking in on for old time's sake. The new Battletoads deftly channels its original vibe and silly conceit into self-referential ‘90's-style cartoon. The cel-shaded art and neon graphics are a pitch-perfect throwback to the Saturday morning cartoons a '90s kid would remember watching before and/or after playing some of the original game. And like a Saturday morning cartoon, Battletoads is driven by a simple but energetic story. The toads discover they've been trapped in a hologram for decades and the universe has forgotten them. The story sets the stage for a lot of self-parody, which makes for some fun sequences early on, like a series of quick-time events where the toads get mundane, work-a-day jobs. But the self-owns wear thin quickly. There are some witty one-liners, but they often come off as more fun than funny. Occasionally, they just fall flat by being unnecessarily crass, like a scene with a gag involving a member of the trio wearing a saggy diaper. The '90s gross-out toy phenomenon was always part of Battletoads aesthetic--the toads' names, for the uninitiated, are Zitz, Pimple, and Rash--but it is one part I wish the series would have left in the past.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sports games generally tend to be more arcadey than simulation, with easy-to-learn basic mechanics that make the experience breezy off the bat while also having enough depth to appeal to competitive players. HB Studios' The Golf Club series has consistently defied that mantra by embracing the exacting challenges and unpredictability of golf since its debut title in 2014. With the 2K Games rebrand, I thought PGA Tour 2K21 might aim to be more like EA's defunct golf series. Instead, what's here is a refinement of The Golf Club 2019, with welcome new features and mechanical tweaks that make for a smoother experience on the course. For those unfamiliar with the franchise, PGA Tour 2K21 is technically the fourth entry in The Golf Club series that was originally self-published by HB Studios. It's the second title to be published by 2K Games following The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA Tour, which 2K helped polish ahead of its release in 2018. The transition to the 2K Sports naming convention will likely garner more eyeballs, but for dedicated fans of The Golf Club like myself, you don't have to worry about HB Studios messing with the formula too much.PGA Tour 2K21's major gameplay change comes with the motion you repeat over and over: your swing. HB Studios removed backswing tempo, which in turn promotes consistent, crisp ball-striking. Every golfer at all levels of play--including Tour pros--has different backswing timing, making this change quite welcome. Overall, I found it much easier to get "perfect" tempo swings. That's not to say the analog stick swing mechanics are too easy now. You still have to make the transition to your downswing in one smooth turn to hit the golf ball on target; the removal of backswing timing merely tosses one unnecessary variable out of the equation, freeing you up to get into a nice groove. Solid swings have a cleaner and fluid look in PGA Tour 2K21, with speed feeling more in-step with real life.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
