Epic Games' lawsuit with Apple is ongoing, with Apple recently terminating Epic's developer account on the App Store as they fight over profit cuts and Epic's decision to use an alternative payment system in Fortnite. While the case moves through the legal system, Epic is trying to get public opinion on its side with the "Free Fortnite" campaign, and it's now even letting you make your own gear--and even sell it--to show where you stand.Via an asset pack available on the Unreal Engine site, you can design and sell shirts, stickers, and other merchandise with Epic Games' Free Fortnite logo. The logo is a parody of one of Apple's older designs, and in Epic Games' post on the subject, it appeared to put one of the stickers on a Macbook.Epic filed a restraining order against Apple to temporarily allow it to continue using Apple's development tools for the Unreal Engine, and this was granted by a judge while its lawsuit is ongoing. However, its request to temporarily reinstate Fortnite on the App Store was not granted, and the game is still unavailable to download on iOS devices as Apple owns the only authorized digital store. It's also unavailable to download through Google Play on Android phones, but there are other storefronts on Android that offer the game.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

COVID-19 may continue to impact movie theaters and the film industry overall, but a move by AMC Theaters indicates there is still confidence both will rebound. The theater chain, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is seeking to acquire 10 theaters operating in nine states that have been struggling financially. But technically, these are theaters that previously belonged to AMC. Seeking regulatory approval for a $1.2 billion bid in 2016 to acquire rival Carmike Cinemas, AMC divested itself of theaters in 15 markets. Four years and one global pandemic ravaging the film business later, AMC is seeking to reclaim what it was before compelled to liquidate--re-activating an antitrust case that has been inactive in D.C. federal court.AMC's motion, which argues that the ability to negotiate leases and operate theaters is in the public interest, reads: "The degree of economic hardship currently being experienced by... the entire theatre exhibition industry is a unique changed circumstance that could not have been anticipated at the time the Final Judgment was entered."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5 sometime during its launch window, with Insomniac now confirming that the game will ship with options to either target a higher resolution or frame rate.In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, Insomniac stated that its sequel will give players the options between a 4K / 30 FPS mode and a "lower resolution" 60 FPS mode. The answer doesn't specify how much lower the higher frame rate mode will be, suggesting that Insomniac might still be trying to find the right balance between stability and raw pixel density. This is similar to the two modes that will be present in Insomniac's other announced PS5 title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It will also feature two modes that target 30 FPS and 60 FPS respectively, with the difference being that both will still aim for 4K as a resolution, too. It's likely that the difference here is which additional effects each mode will present players to allow for the additional smoothness.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ford unveiled a new flagship vehicle during Gamescom Opening Night Live, but it's a hypercar that won't be seen on a showroom floor. The Team Fordzilla P1 was designed especially for esports by Ford's exterior stylist Arturo Arino, and had various elements of its virtual manufacturing selected by fans. The drivetrain, dashboard, and seating position all received fan input that Ford factored into the final design, according to CNET.The Team Fordzilla P1 was also inspired by the GT90 concept car and features a shape-shifting design. A longtail configuration allows it to gain more speed when racing down a straight, while its alternate and more compact body configuration allows for tighter maneuvering around a corner. The roof also features a transparent design, and there are no exhaust tips to be seen at the rear.Ford hasn't revealed what's under the hood of this car or even which video game it will appear in, but the company did confirm in a blog post that talks are currently in place to have it featured in a "well-loved game." Ford also plans to build a full-size scale model of the vehicle before the end of the year. The car manufacturer does have a history with Microsoft's Forza series, as the Ford GT was used as the cover car in Forza Motorsport 6.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Comedian Ayo Edebiri will be replacing comedian Jenny Slate as the voice actor playing Missy on Netflix's Bigmouth, Variety reports. Slate had announced her departure in July over Instagram, explaining: "At the start of the show, I reasoned with myself that it was permissible for me to play Missy because her mom is Jewish and white--as am I. But Missy is also Black, and Black characters on an animated show should be played by Black people."Slate's departure came as the puberty comedy was mid-production on Season 4. Edebiri will take over the role in the second to last episode of that season, and will be joining the writers' room for the fifth season (which, due to the show's production schedule, she began on first)."I was definitely a very uncomfortable child, so I think the show speaks to that and a lot of those feelings, which still resonate with me as an adult," Edebiri said. "I'm back home in my childhood bedroom right now and on my bookshelf in between A Series of Unfortunate Events’ is Bill Clinton's autobiography and Nelson Mandela's autobiography and a translation of The Iliad in Latin. I was a true dork. So I don't think I have to go too far to connect with Missy."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As Apple and Epic Games begin what is bound to be a lengthy bout in court, the iPhone manufacturer has now moved against Facebook after the social media company tried to inform users of the App Store's mandatory 30% fee.In the latest version of its app, Facebook is introducing functionality to allow users to host virtual events and monetize them in response to job losses due to COVID-19. Facebook says it approached Apple to waive the 30% cut it would take from all user transactions but explained that Apple declined the request. As a response, Facebook attempted to inform users of the cut that Apple would take from their transactions. After being delayed for two years, Disney’s The New Mutants delivered $750,000 in Thursday night previews domestically, according to a report from Variety. Considering the fact that we're still in a pandemic marketplace where a little more than half of all movie theaters are open, this appears to be a decent start. New Mutants had the first notable Thursday night previews for a major studio movie that have been reported since the weekend of March 13-15, the last time all the major theaters were open, and the last time that domestic weekend box office was reported in full before the national pandemic shutdown. The last superhero movie to hit theaters before the shut down was Valiant Entertainment's Bloodshot. On the evening of March 12, the comic book adaptation made $1.2M off previews on 2,631 screens. Bloodshot ended up grossing a $9.1M opening weekend, but with restrictions and regulations coming into play, the second weekend saw a drastic drop with only $52,000 at 79 locations. It debuted on digital a short time later.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Doom Eternal is getting a hefty story expansion called The Ancient Gods, and we got our first extended look at Gamescom Opening Night Live. If you'd like to intervene in a heavenly conflict even though you don't own the full game, that option is open too. Ancient Gods will be a standalone expansion that you can buy a la carte.“When we look at how many people have played through the game we have a large percentage--higher than 2016--that have completed it, so you're always looking at that and seeing how far players make it through your game," executive producer Marty Stratton told PCGamesN. "It's important as we want the DLC to reach as many people as possible. In fact, you don’t even need to own Doom Eternal to buy the DLC and play it."Aside from not needing to own the game, his comments confirm that you can play the Ancient Gods without having finished the campaign. As he says, the studio is looking to make it available to as wide a player base as possible.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
