Destiny 2's pursuit of in-game achievements is getting a big overhaul, now that the Destiny Content Vault will soon begin locking certain activities away in an effort to streamline the game. Nintendo surprise-announced the long-rumored Super Mario 3D All-Stars recently: a Switch compilation of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. While it's easy enough to see how Mario 64 and Sunshine would map to a Switch control scheme, Galaxy on the Wii made heavy use of pointer functionality. So how does that map onto a handheld hybrid? In a statement to Polygon, Nintendo clarified that in TV or tabletop modes, you'll need to use the Joy-Con controllers for pointer functionality. But if you switch to handheld mode, with the Joy-Con controllers attached to the screen, that functionality will use the touch screen instead. The pointer in Super Mario Galaxy was used to fire star bits, and a second player could help Mario in co-op by using the cursor to perform some of the same functions. That functionality will still be available, even on the Switch Lite, though Nintendo notes that you'll have to use separate Joy-Cons for that. According to the trailer, to play in co-op each player will just need one Joy-Con. All-Stars will also support the Pro controller.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Update: Variety now reports that The Batman has not actually resumed production. "Studio insiders" have denied the Daily Mail report, saying the movie is not yet being filmed again. Construction work is continuing, but Variety says that shooting likely won't continue until the two-week quarantine period has ended. The original story follows.Production on The Batman has reportedly already resumed after yesterday's report that Robert Pattinson has tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Daily Mail, while Pattinson is self-isolating for at least 14 days, director Matt Reeves "is trying to film as much as he can at the Warner Bros. Studio in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, without his leading man." All crew who did not have direct contact with Pattinson will reportedly return to work as well."The behavior of U.K. cast and crew have been exemplary," Lyndsay Duthie, CEO of the Production Guild of Great Britain, told Variety. "Wanting to return to work, everyone has embraced the comprehensive measures required of them and as a result many productions have been back on set and filming safely for weeks already. Where we have seen productions abroad where a cast or crew member has tested positive, precautions have been taken as required to enable them to start filming again as soon as they had the all clear."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ahead of an official reveal on September 9, a few minutes of multiplayer from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has leaked online, showing a neon-lit battlefield on the streets of Miami. The footage shows off a 6v6 VIP Escort mode and gives some hints as to the direction developer Treyarch is taking with this year's multiplayer offering. For starters, it seems the low time to kill has been retained from last year's Modern Warfare, this time with health bars above opponent's heads so that you can see exactly how close you are to a kill. The loadout system seems familiar too, with five attachment slots for weapons and evidence suggesting progression on a per-weapon basis. Each loadout also features a lethal, tactical, and field upgrade slot, as well as options for Wildcard slots. These are filled with perks, with the footage showing off "Perk Greed" which lets you double up on perks, and "Danger Close" which stocks you up with more grenades.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As is somewhat typical for the summer months, and certainly during a period of pandemic-driven work-from-home situations, new game releases have been somewhat slow as of late. That's not to say there hasn't been anything new to play, whether it's the surprise launch of Super Mario All-Stars or the newfound freedom to finally try out Final Fantasy XIV, but it feels like it's been a while since a single day was packed with new games like today. September 4 effectively kicks off the big fall rush, which will see the release of not just some major games, but also next-gen hardware (assuming we ever get a price and release date for Xbox Series X and PS5).The biggest of today's bunch is Marvel's Avengers. After initially drawing the derision of fans who found the look of the game's characters off-putting during its reveal event, the arrival of the game has resulted in a more positive response. Despite the marketing focus having so heavily been on the Avengers themselves and the Destiny-like games-as-a-service aspects of the game, it also includes a single-player campaign starring Kamala Khan that has been well-received so far. It's hard not to take notice of how disparate these two sides of the game feel, as you can read about in our Avengers early review impressions. There's also Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, an oddly named title that nonetheless looks to be a successful remake of two games that are still fondly remembered more than 20 years later. Then we have NBA 2K21, the latest annual entry in a series that can easily devour all of your time, and Paradise Killer, an excellent-sounding detective game that you might not have heard of prior to this week.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Looks like the odds of Hugo Weaving reprising his role as Elrond of Rivendell for a Lord of the Rings project, like Amazon's upcoming 2021 series, aren't good. In an interview with Variety, when asked point-blank if he'd ever wear the elf ears again, he said, "No way. Absolutely no."Instead, Weaving says, he would be more receptive to revisiting his role as Agent Smith in The Matrix and its sequels, 2003's The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions--he would have been in the upcoming The Matrix 4, but scheduling conflicts prevented it."Matrix might have happened," Weaving said. "But Lord of the Rings, no, I would never--I'm not interested in that at all. Look, I loved being in New Zealand with all those great people, and it was like going back to a family but actually, to be honest, I think everyone had more than enough of it."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
