Horizon Zero Dawn launched on PC little over a month ago with numerous performance and technical issues, which developer Guerrilla Games has been chipping away at. While the last patch fixed a bug that kept you as a baby Aloy forever, the latest update is all about performance increases.Patch 1.04 address multiple reported issues across the game but is headlined by a CPU optimization that Guerrilla says could increase performance up to 10% on some systems. The change also helps the performance during cutscenes and dialogue transitions, which could often see the frame rate dip incredibly low in pivotal story moments.Elsewhere the patch touches up banding issues that players using HDR were reporting, as well as a fix for mouse sensitivity that would go out-of-sync with the setting when the frame rate was not stable. Fixes for issues around aiming bugs and geometry pop-in have also been included, with Guerrilla keeping tracking of existing issues and asking players to keep the team updated on new ones they might be encountering. You can read through the full patch notes below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

1993's Doom has been ported to just about every device under the sun since its release, from calculators to printers to train ticket authenticators. There's even a subreddit for funny Doom ports. But there's been one version of Doom we've long cried out for, and it's finally here--a version of Doom that will run on a slightly modified pregnancy test.Twitter user Foone, who identifies as a "hardware / software necromancer" in their profile, has been playing around with a modified pregnancy test with a replacement OLED display. At first, he was just using it to run videos, like this one from the opening of Skyrim.hey you, you're finally awake. You were trying to get pregnant, right? pic.twitter.com/uCgmymvahS — foone (@Foone) September 5, 2020At first, Foone was struggling to get Doom running on the test, but eventually, they made it happen. Using a mini keyboard, Foone was able to control the black-and-white, low-fi version of Doom, running on a 128x32 monochrome display.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a collection announced as part of the Super Mario 35th anniversary celebration, will bring Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy to the Nintendo Switch. The collection, which releases on September 18, is already doing pretty well--in fact, it's one of the year's top sellers already.Nintendolife noticed that the physical version of the game has climbed right up the Amazon best sellers list for games in 2020, which is otherwise mostly made up of peripherals and digital codes for store credit across the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo stores. At the time of writing, it's the 14th best selling product on the list, and the second best-selling game. These early sales are likely due, in part, to Nintendo's curious decision to make the game explicitly a time-limited release, available for sale until March 31, 2021--fans don't want to miss out.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hand-to-hand combat and plenty of forklift action are coming to Crunchyroll. The cult-favorite Shenmue game series is getting turned into an anime series with original creator Yu Suzuki serving as executive producer.Announced during the Virtual Crunchyroll Expo on September 5, the Shenmue anime series is a collaboration with Adult Swim and will be directed by One-Punch Man's Chikara Sakurai. The 13-episode series doesn't have a release date yet, but Shenmue fans are used to waiting a long time. After the original two games released on Dreamcast, it took another 18 years to get Shenmue 3. That likely only happened because of a Kickstarter campaign that still stands as the biggest ever for a video game, attracting more than $6 million in donations. The game took nearly two years longer to develop than was initially planned and didn’t perform particularly well outside of its Kickstarter campaign sales.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you've followed legendary skater Tony Hawk over the last few years, then you've likely seen him yell "Do a kickflip!" at unsuspecting kids in the wild. If they can do one successfully, he usually has a prize for them such as a new skateboard, but Hawk challenged YouTuber the Hacksmith to do something even more impressive: Design a skateboard that can do a kickflip on its own to celebrate the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2.Looking much like a normal skateboard until you look underneath, Hacksmith's self-kickflipping skateboard can pop up into the air and land back on its wheels without any input from a skater. All he has to do is press a few buttons on his DualShock 4 controller, which is connected to the board's electronics via Bluetooth. While it's one of the easiest tricks to perform in the video game, it's something that many skaters, especially newcomers, struggle with for months. After trying out fireworks and rocket engines, the final design was a little less terrifying. It used a mousetrap-style spring to force the board into a spin, and it works with or without a skater riding it. Of course, you still have to be pretty coordinated to stay on the board after the flip, regardless of if it's flipping itself initially. Most of us can't even do an ollie. Actually, most of us can't skate at all!Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

One of the most iconic challenges in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is S-K-A-T-E, which has you collecting letters scattered across each course as you do your best tricks. Until now, it has been limited to the virtual world, but Tony Hawk got to experience it for real. Now he just has about 16 more courses to go!Hawk was surprised to find that his halfpipe had been turned into a real S-K-A-T-E challenge when he arrived there on Friday, with balloons floating along the rails above the ramp. He quickly collected all the letters.Went to skate yesterday and was surprised to find my ramp turned into a real-life @TonyHawkTheGame challenge. Thanks to my staff for the thoughtful gift, and thanks to all of you that got the game this weekend. Hope you’re enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the development process. pic.twitter.com/i7jDhnJeG1 — Tony Hawk (@tonyhawk) September 5, 2020He didn't, however, see the secret tape located in the "hidden room" of his facility. In the games, these are generally only accessible by performing some seriously impressive jumps and grinds. In the iconic Warehouse level from the first game, for instance, it's in a small booth located above the halfpipe. Be careful, as you'll break through the walls there and can easily wipe out onto the floor below. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
