Ubisoft's Zelda-like Immortals: Fenyx Rising, the game formerly known as Gods & Monsters, had its proper unveiling as part of the Ubisoft Forward event. We've also now learned that Ori and the Blind Forest and Halo Infinite composer Gareth Coker worked on the music.GameSpot is happy to premiere the title theme today, which is called "Heart of a Hero." It is a powerful and energetic song that successfully captures the essence of a game with an epic story like Immortals has. Coker used ancient instruments like the lyre and kithara for the music, and he even commissioned a luthier from Greece for the score. You can listen to the track in the video below."In terms of the overall palette, it is a mix of both ancient instruments such as the lyre and kithara, two of which I specially commissioned from a Greek luthier and waited nervously while they were shipped across the Atlantic," Coker said in a statement. "The game also has a strong magical and spiritual element which I brought in through using several different higher pitched instruments but processing them to make them more mystical. Tying it all together is the orchestral and choral elements, which gives us the weight we need in the game’s grandest and most epic moments, of which there are many."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

I grew up on RPGs with turn-based battles, but I don't play them much anymore. Too often, they're designed for quantity over quality, leading to long strings of fights you can grind through on auto-pilot. It's ironic, then, that Star Renegades, which applies the run-based roguelite structure of games like Into the Breach and Dead Cells to a gauntlet of turn-based RPG battles you repeat over and over again, would find a way to reinvigorate them. Tactically taxing and demanding in every moment, Star Renegades makes every turn feel like a new crossroads where the fate of the world (or at least your playthrough) hangs in the balance. Whether it elicits ecstasy or agony, it's always exciting. The "run" in Star Renegades is a truncated RPG quest. Your party, which begins as a trio and maxes out as a group of six, repels a multiverse-conquering invasion force. Taking a cue from Into The Breach, failing in Star Renegades prompts you to send a robot messenger to the next dimension so it can prepare to defend itself. On the journey, you move your party around world maps, level up, equip weapons and armor, learn bits and pieces about your heroes' backstories, and, of course, fight.Star Renegades' RPG trappings allow its pixel art aesthetic to shine. In moving back and forth from world map to combat screen, you get to see the vibrant, colorful sci-fi world from both a bird's-eye and ground-level view. With little room for actual narrative, so much of Star Renegades' world and characters is conveyed through its look and feel.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Marvel's Avengers is the Incredible Hulk of video games. The rage-filled Avenger and his scientist alter-ego are the same person and yet wholly different from one another, and Avengers is similarly split between two, sometimes diametrically opposed, personalities. One is a single-player story campaign that can be emotional and thoughtful, tuned to bring you into the shoes of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, while also spending time with them as people. The other is a multiplayer-focused live game full of huge levels where you punch all manner of enemies, without many worries as to why. Both sides work in their own way, but they never quite mesh, leaving Marvel's Avengers a somewhat confused, haphazard game--but a fun one, despite all its inner turmoil.Like the Hulk's mild-mannered counterpart, Bruce Banner, the single-player story campaign of Marvel's Avengers makes a strong first impression with its more thoughtful approach. It's set in its own alternate Marvel Comics universe where the superheroes that make up the Avengers--Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, the Hulk, and Thor--are famous and beloved. You start the game as Kamala Khan, a young girl who's a huge fan of the heroes, when she attends an Avengers celebration called A-Day in San Francisco. Soon, Kamala will become a superhero in her own right, following a terrorist attack and a tragedy that causes the Avengers to disband and spreads superpowers throughout a segment of the population. And while you'll spend time as each of the titular team, the single-player portion of Marvel's Avengers is really Kamala's story, and it works because she provides it a moral and emotional heart. But this is a superhero game, and that means there are supervillains--and they need punching. The core of Marvel's Avengers is an action-RPG brawler, with you playing a range of characters that deliver beat-downs to Marvel creeps such as Abomination, Taskmaster, and MODOK, as well as their many robotic and human minions. You're treated to a host of moves, which include light and heavy melee strikes, ranged attacks, hero-specific special abilities that have cooldown timers, and extra abilities triggered by using Intrinsic Energy, a resource that generally builds up over time and allows you to activate boosts for damage or defense. Combat in Marvel's Avengers is about stringing together combos and abilities based on the enemies you're facing, with various threats demanding that you kick them into the air to juggle them, break their shields with heavy attacks, or dodge and parry their incoming blows to defeat them.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Imagine if you somehow found yourself as an NPC in the world of your favorite classic RPG adventure. Not as a monster-slayer, item-maker, or advice-giver, mind you... just as an average Joe Schmoe who's trying to live their life as the chosen hero goes off to fight the forces of evil. Now, imagine if, upon materializing in this world, you learned that the story the game told you wasn't entirely accurate to that world's reality--and that the "hero" was a bumbling psychopath who can't carry a two-sided conversation, raids townspeople's drawers and cabinets looking for loot, and cuts down any animal he comes across in a crazed craving for EXP. What would your life in this world be like? Could you do anything to help make the world better? This is the idea behind Moon, an "anti-RPG" originally released in Japan on the PlayStation in 1997 that has garnered much acclaim since. Though it was only available in Japanese for quite some time, Moon's cult-classic status among gamers and developers has given it a powerful reputation, bolstered by Toby Fox of Undertale fame citing it as one of that game's influences. With an English version finally available after almost a quarter-century, does Moon live up to the expectations? Yes, indeed--though its age certainly shows in many places.Moon (1997) captured on Nintendo SwitchMoon begins with a youngster playing an RPG called Moon World, which looks like a standard 16- or 32-bit JRPG. A chosen hero is going on an epic journey to recover the light of the moon from a wicked dragon, collecting gear, gaining levels, and slaying monsters while earning the adoration of the townsfolk. As the child's mother tells them to turn off the console and go to bed, the youth suddenly finds themselves in the actual Moon World, which looks quite different from the game they were playing. A mysterious being appears and tells you that the only way to exist within the world is to find and collect love from its populace. And thus, your journey of discovering ways to appreciate the world and do random acts of kindness begins.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Things are still relatively uncertain with film release dates pushing into the back half of the year--Wonder Woman 84 is reportedly in position to bump Dune out of its set release date of December 18, pushing it to 2021. As of September 11, 2020 users will no longer be able to access their Epic Games accounts via Apple ID in the wake of their ongoing legal feud. If you're someone who was using an Apple ID to sign in to an Epic Games account, including for use in Fortnite, you need to update your email and password as soon as possible.Detailed directions for how to do this can be found on Epic's site, but the gist is that you'll need to head over to your general settings with your Apple ID and change your email address to your most current, non-Apple ID one. It's going to be a similar process when it comes to setting up an Epic Games password. Visit the change your password page, login with your Apple ID and enter a new password. It's going to be easiest to get this done before September 11, but if you don't do so in time there will still be hope. To reset your email after Apple support has ended, go to the Epic Games Contact Us page and follow the prompts. You'll also need to have the verification code Epic is sending out via an email with the subject "IMPORTANT! Epic Games account update required for continued access." The code looks like this: ABC-123-DEF.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Since 2015, the free-to-play MOBA Smite has run an annual event called Odyssey, and 2020 is no different. This year's version is called Odyssey: Reckoning, and the update is now live on all platforms. As with previous incarnations of Odyssey, the ultimate reward for completing the event's content is a new Tier 5 god skin, in this case the Eclipse Summoner Hel.This update introduces a quest system to the game, which is accessed through the new Odyssey map. Event-exclusive Odyssey points--which are gained by participating in the Necropolis battle pass or by buying other items in the shop--can be spent to unlock new territories on the map, which come with their own quests and rewards. The patch also comes with a wide variety of bug fixes and gameplay changes, including a rework of several key items, including the Serrated Edge, Charon's Coin, and quite a few others. Meanwhile, gods like Baba Yaga, Ra, and Zeus have received buffs, while Nemesis gets a minor nerf.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The announcements will take place separately on each side of October. The computing company is planning to host its Zen 3 focused event on October 8, which will likely include the full revel of its Ryzen 4000 CPU line for desktops. Ryzen 4000 CPUs have already been making their way to gaming laptops (namely ASUS's Zephyrus G14) and have shown remarkable results. Developer Treyarch has unveiled the first-look at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer, with a trailer featuring a Duran Duran and Notorious B.I.G. mash-up against a bevy of explosions and gunfire. The trailer, lasting all of about three minutes and some change, shows a "very Cold War-era Black Ops experience," according to livestream host and studio design director David Vonderhaar. The trailer features the elements coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when it launches on November 13, including water-based vehicular combat and locations not often explored in the Black Ops series. It all looks like standard Call of Duty multiplayer fare, with a flurry of explosions and gunfire to match. All footage shown in the multiplayer reveal trailer was captured on a PlayStation 5, which you can check out below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Another year, another Call of Duty--such is the video game landscape. This year's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is trying some new things on the single-player campaign side, but in terms of the multiplayer component, you might be wondering what's in it for you this time, and whether you should leave Modern Warfare's robust multiplayer suite and breadth of content updates behind for something different.I was able to experience Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer alongside other members of the media through an online hands-on preview event held by Activision. We played multiple matches that included the new VIP Escort mode and a 12-on-12 Domination mode called Combined Arms on a seafaring map. This is in addition to the expected suite of modes like Hardpoint, Team Deathmatch, Control, and Kill Confirmed. I also got a look at how loadouts have changed this time around with its roster of guns, perks, attachments, scorestreaks, and wildcards. With all that in mind, let's dig into what's new with Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer, how it changes up the experience, and if it's worth jumping into (you can also watch the video above).Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

During the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal, developer Treyarch discussed how Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will be interconnected. By interlinking the battle pass system and store, the two Call of Duty games will share post-launch content and progression across all platforms. The studio detailed what the interlinking of the battle pass system and store means for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Alongside supporting cross-play and cross-progression, both games feature shared post-launch content through the battle pass and store. This means what you unlock in Black Ops Cold War's battle pass will carry over to Warzone and vice versa. Additionally, because the post-launch content for both games is free, everything from Warzone is transferable to Black Ops Cold War."One surprise we're avoiding is the feeling of starting over," said Treyarch's creative specialist Miles Leslie. "It's important to us that you can still use your characters, weapons, progression-related items, which is why investment and progress in Cold War is reflected in Warzone. While these are two very big games, from the beginning they've been built to work together.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War includes plenty of tried and true game modes such as Domination and Team Deathmatch, but it also introduces a new mode that emphasizes teamwork, objective-based gameplay, and creativity. The Fireteam format is a new multiplayer category where up to 40 players split into groups of four and complete objectives. In one Fireteam game mode called Dirty Bomb, players must collect uranium from across a large map and deliver them to designated bomb locations. These modes and the action will vary depending on the map you're playing, and it should feel different from any other Call of Duty experience to date. It's also separate from the large-scale Combined Arms mode, which is essentially the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Ground War mode.Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should have plenty of players regardless of the platform you're playing on, as the game features cross-platform and cross-generational multiplayer for everyone. The open beta will eventually be available to all platforms but will begin October 8 as a PlayStation exclusive.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
