This story originally appeared on GameSpot sister site TV Guide. It's been one hell of a journey over 15 years, but we've reached the end of filming on Supernatural. On Thursday, Sept. 10, which marked the show's final day of shooting, the cast and crew flooded social media with memories and special tributes to honor their time with the series. If you thought you'd finally come to grips with saying goodbye, these sentimental messages might be the thing to undo all of that.Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester, delivered a heartfelt post that may or may not have sent us into an emotional spiral. "I write this as I head to my last day of #Supernatural... My last day with #SamWinchester," he wrote, noting he'd have more to say later. "Obviously, my head is spinning and my emotions are stratospheric, but there's still a bit of time left on the clock. Thank y'all SO MUCH for the incredible amount of love and support that's been headed our way, in these final hours. It's definitely been felt."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Microsoft confirmed the long-rumored Xbox Lockhart console recently, and as expected, it's called Xbox Series S. It plays the same games as Xbox Series X, similar to how Xbox One S and Xbox One X have the same library. But because we've spent nearly a year referring to Microsoft's next generation as "Xbox Series X," it's suddenly a bit confusing. You can't just say a game is coming to Xbox Series X, as we have in the past, because that suggests it's not coming to Xbox Series S. But this all goes back to a point from last December that has seemingly gone under the radar: The new generation of consoles is simply called Xbox. Series X (and now Series S) are simply model names.A Microsoft spokesperson stated this plainly to Business Insider in December, shortly after the Xbox Series X name was revealed at The Game Awards: "The name we're carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox. And at The Game Awards you saw that name come to life through the Xbox Series X. Similar to what fans have seen with previous generations, the name 'Xbox Series X' allows room for additional consoles in the future."But because we only had one iteration of next-gen Xbox we knew about, everyone simply carried on calling it Xbox Series X. And why wouldn't they? To simply say "Xbox" would cause confusion, because that sounds either like you're referring to the original Xbox system or the Xbox ecosystem as a whole, spanning all generations. It's a problem not unlike what we encountered when the Xbox One was introduced. Written out, it's reasonably clear, but speak the words "Xbox One" aloud and you're left in ambiguous territory where it's unclear if you're talking about the current generation or Microsoft's first-ever console.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This week on Wrestle Buddies, GameSpot's professional wrestling podcast, Chris E. Hayner and Mat Elfring are revisiting one of the most iconic bits of wrestling weirdness to ever happen. That's right, it's Shockmaster week on Wrestle Buddies--though not the way you might expect. We're kicking off the show by looking back at everything that happened after The Shockmaster tripped through a wall, with his helmet falling off. What you might not remember is the character didn't end there. In fact, he had a bunch of matches and the gimmick somehow got much more bizarre. Then, we welcome WWE superstar Adam Cole to the podcast to talk about his shared history with NXT's Finn Balor, and whether he's ready to move to Raw or Smackdown. Of course, given the love we have for Up Up Down Down, we had to also talk video games with Cole, and the joy of playing Uno with your friends during quarantine.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

There's an important milestone in every adult's life when they realize that their parents aren't just monolithic figures known only as Mom and/or Dad, but people in their own right who have hopes, dreams, thoughts, and desires that have nothing to do with their children. That’s not exactly new territory in other art, but it's a rarity in games. In the few that do explore that idea, it's usually Dad who gets the attention. That makes Dontnod's Tell Me Why a fascinating anomaly right off the bat. It is, without question, a shattered portrait of a single mother, pieced back together by those who knew her best. The framework of the game screams narrative murder-mystery, but the game takes a Knives Out approach to that; the question of who killed Mary-Ann Ronan is answered by the end of the first episode. Why she died is a far more complex question, and the answers depending on unreliable, traumatic memories throws another wrench into the mix.The memories in question mostly belong to Mary-Ann's twin children, Tyler and Alyson. The facts from the start are these: Mary-Ann and her kids live in a tiny middle-of-nowhere town in Alaska called Delos Crossing. The family is poor, relying on handouts from other folks in town, while all the entertainment comes from either nature itself or Mary-Ann's fantastical imagination teaching her kids how to tell stories with and to each other. Over time, however, Mary-Ann's mental health deteriorates, culminating in a fateful night where Mary-Ann suffers some sort of mental break and attacks Tyler, who is later accused of killing her in self-defense. Tyler is sent away to live in a group home, while Alyson is taken in by a family friend, a cop named Eddy. Fifteen years later, Tyler and Alyson finally reunite to go back to their old house and clear it out to be sold, only to unearth some harrowing truths about their mother and their hometown--and everyone's roles in how Mary-Ann died. There are quite a few mysteries to be unraveled in Tell Me Why, but calling Tell Me Why a mystery suggests the game is more action-packed, twisty, and turny than it actually is. It's actually closer in tone and mechanics to Fullbright's Gone Home than Dontnod's own Life Is Strange. There’s still quite a lot of Life Is Strange in this game’s blood, though. Most of Tell Me Why involves simply walking around, pressing A when you come close to anything highlighted to hear characters expound on a particular object and continue the story, making dialogue choices for characters along the way. The developers' design ethos is familiar, they're excellent at making towns and communities that are awash in detail, places that feel rich, lived-in, and full of history and culture. That's particularly special in Tell Me Why, given the cultures represented here that are rarely if ever presented with this kind of TLC, if they've ever been presented at all. In particular, the way the indigenous Tlingit tribe is simply woven into the fabric of Delos Crossing, and doesn’t call out to itself as exotic or foreign is just excellent. There’s much to be said about the existence of The Other being portrayed not as a strange curiosity, but a fact of life in a narrative.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The next DLC fighter coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ is Master Roshi, Goku's original trainer and one of Earth's mightiest human warriors. The elderly fighter, who is able to bulk up, create copies of himself, and unleash a huge Kamehameha attack, has been shown off by Bandai Namco's esports team.In the Twitter video below, you can watch Roshi in action as he beats down Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha with little assistance. The video shows off his many techniques--the fighting game balances all characters regardless of their in-universe strength, so Goku's relative strength doesn't factor into how the fight plays out.The fight ends with Roshi using the mafuba, also known as the "demon containment wave", on Krillin. The move was last seen by fans of the anime in Dragon Ball Super during the Tournament of Power.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Warframe has ballooned over time, with the game now taking up a huge portion of your PC or console's HDD (although it's a smaller install on Switch). Now, the game is undertaking what is cheekily being called "The Great Ensmallening," as developer Digital Extremes has started to compress textures to lower the file size.According to the post by Warframe staff, the next PC update will be a 6.5GB download, but once it's installed, players will notice that the game is 6.6GB lighter. This is the first of three planned updates that will ultimately reduce the game's install size, and while the figures given are specific to the PC version, the post promises that "most platforms will see similar improvements.""One of the things we’re doing to reduce our footprint involves changing how our texture data is compressed," the post reads. "The technology we’re using is called Oodle Texture and we’re extremely pleased with the savings we’re getting: our files are roughly half the size on disk and the visual differences are negligible."A before-and-after comparison screenshot example is below. If you can tell the difference, you have better eyes than us. The second update will do the same thing across more of the game, freeing up more space. All three file-reduction updates are due to launch before the end of 2020.In GameSpot's 2019 re-review, Warframe received an 8/10. "The game still has issues with repetition and lack of explanations for its more complex systems, but it's managed to overcome their severity by introducing so many events and revisions that continue to elevate it," wrote reviewer Alessandro Fillari. "While there are inevitable bouts of frustration here and there, I always manage to center myself once I move on to other opportunities."Info from Gamespot.com
