Charles Barkley has never been in an NBA 2K game, including this year's NBA 2K21, and now we know why. In a video that has been circulating online, Barkley explains that he does not feature in the games because he's disappointed at how little they pay some of the legacy players who feature--not because he needs the money himself, but because it could be a good revenue source for older players with less money. The video seems to be from a recorded online fan Q&A that Barkley took part in, with the relevant question coming from a young boy named Nick, who has uploaded the video to his own YouTube. It's pretty charming. This actually happened back in July, but went largely unnoticed until the YouTube recommendation algorithm started bringing it to people's attention over the weekend.Asked why he's not in 2K, Barkley responds "That's a great question. I'm asked that question a lot."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Crysis Remastered is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 18, and Crysis will, once again, push limits. If you're playing on PS4 Pro or Xbox One X, you'll be able to play the game with ray tracing enabled, making this the first game to feature ray tracing--a rendering technique that is generally used for superior lighting and reflections--on current-gen hardware. You can check it out in the video below. It shows off how ray tracing is used in the remaster on consoles to produce higher quality reflections. The footage doesn't show much actual gameplay, but you get to see ray tracing in effect during a brief firefight. It's not quite on par with some of the results we're seeing on PC (check out this Cyberpunk 2077 footage with ray tracing, for instance). But this is the first time this rendering technique has been used at all on the hardware. Crysis Remastered will presumably feature ray tracing on PC, too; here's what the new version of the game looks like on PC with the settings maxed out.The game has already launched on Nintendo Switch; ray tracing is not available on Nintendo's portable machine, though.Ray tracing is a much-touted feature of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, too, and many games will make use of it on next-gen systems. Xbox Series X and PS5 versions of Crysis Remastered have not been announced, though.Info from Gamespot.com

Disney's live-action Mulan remake is only available on Disney Plus is most markets, but the film has debuted in cinemas across China. The film, however, hasn't done so well--it has opened to just $25 million in its first weekend, Variety reports. The film, helmed by New Zealand director Niki Caro, opened to $23 million over the September 11-13 weekend. That made it the number 1 film at the Chinese box office, but not by the margin Disney would have been likely expecting, as the film seems to have been made with the Chinese market in mind. The new film, which is more serious than the previous animated version (there are no talking animals or musical numbers), was subjected to a media blackout in the country after outcry against the movie's troublesome production, where filming took place in the providence of Xinjiang, a region that contains interment camps used as part of an assimilation campaign.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Last month, Control publisher 505 Games confirmed that the game's Ultimate Edition version, which bundles the original title with two expansions, will be the only way to get a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions without re-purchasing the game. At the time, 505 said this was an option it chose because it couldn't bring all current-gen players to next-gen platforms and framed it as avoiding "leaving any one group out." That's what makes the latest development in the story so confusing.Users on the gaming forum ResetEra reported that despite owning the Deluxe Edition of the game, which is not the same as the Ultimate Edition, they found they had been upgraded to it anyway. A short time later, this was revoked, and they were reverted back to the previous version of the game.505 Games' decision to not offer any sort of upgrade path for most Control players was controversial because it wasn't just the base game that would need to be transferred. It has received two substantial expansions, and with performance issues on current-gen systems sometimes affecting framerate, it's expected that the next-gen experience will be superior.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sony has announced a new PlayStation 5 showcase scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET. The event will focus on the console's upcoming games. It will include a look at games coming at launch as well as those available in the future. If you haven't made up your mind on purchasing the PS5 yet, this could be your chance. The event will be shown on both Twitch and YouTube, and will last about 40 minutes. It's games-focused rather than hardware-focused, and will feature updates on first-party and third-party games. We know that Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are both scheduled to release near the system's launch. Neither has a firm release date. Other games, such as the Demon's Souls remake, don't have release windows yet. There also isn't an official date for the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but it releases three days after Microsoft's systems. Having that available as a launch title for the PS5 would certainly be a big deal. However, it will also be one of players' first introductions to the new $70 price we'll see for certain next-gen games. Take-Two is similarily pricing games at this level, while other companies such as Ubisoft have not done so yet.Sony has still not revealed the release date or price for the PS5, but it may have no choice now that Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Series X/S is set to release on November 10. While the Series X will cost $500, the less-powerful Series S will cost $300. This strategy is different from Sony's, where the only difference between the PS5 and PS5 Digital systems is a disc drive. Because of this, it's unlikely there will be an enormous price difference between the two. We'll find out for sure soon enough. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The outlandish and brash--yet hilarious--Harley Quinn series on DC Universe and HBO Max wrapped up Season 2 back in June. And so far, there has been no announcement of Season 3. However, during DC FanDome, there was some information about where this show will head.Consider this your warning for spoilers. At the end of Season 2, Poison Ivy and Kite Man didn't go through with their wedding--and a Commissioner Gordon infiltrating the wedding is the catalyst to that break up--and in the fallout, Harley Quinn and Ivy kissed, and Ivy confessed her feelings for Quinn. So where do you go next? The answer is pretty obvious. "We want to focus on Harley and Ivy's relationship," explained executive producer Justin Halpern during the Harley Quinn panel. "And I'm less, personally, interested in if the Joker gets a new girlfriend than I am of 'let's explore this relationship we've spent two seasons building.'"Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When Batwoman returns for Season 2 next year, it'll be without Season 1's titular character. Ruby Rose, who played Kate Kane/Batwoman, departed the show shortly after the Season 1 finale aired. Now, a new character named Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) will take on the cowl. Before she does, though, there will be a bit of a redesign.During Batwoman's DC FanDome panel, showrunner Caroline Dries said the costume will be changed early in Season 2, offering a little bit of insight into what fans should expect. "It's going to be a little bit of an evolution, we're going to see the suit evolve early on in the season," she said. "Ryan is like, 'For me to feel empowered in this thing, it needs to feel like I'm representing something that I'm fighting for.'"Much like with Kate Kane, Dries said it's important that "Ryan isn't hiding what makes her awesome with a suit." Given the character's status as the first Black Batwoman on a live-action TV show or movie, she and Leslie want to make sure that's honored in the suit.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
