Hulu has released a new official trailer for Helstrom, an adaptation of the Marvel Comics standalone story based outside of the superhero MCU that has a greater emphasis on horror and the supernatural. The trailer looks to honor those roots, with a moody atmosphere, haunting soundtrack, and a great balance of foreboding danger and even jump scares. Check it out below. According to a release, Helstrom's plot is as follows: "As the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer, Helstrom follows Daimon and Ana Helstrom, and their complicated dynamic, as they track down the worst of humanity--each with their own attitude and skills." That description is admittedly somewhat cryptic, which seems intentional on Hulu's part: Aside from this trailer and that synopsis, all that's known about the series (aside from the source material in the comics) is that all 10 episodes of the first season will premiere October 16 on Hulu. Newcomers and hardcore fans alike can still pore over the Comic-Con@Home Helstrom panel from back in July.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While fans still have to wait until 2021 for The Suicide Squad to hit theaters, it's been announced that HBO Max has greenlit a straight-to-series order for a Peacemaker spin-off show with John Cena reprising his role of the titular character. Director James Gunn will write all the series and direct multiple episodes, including the pilot. The eight-episode series will explore the origins of the Peacemaker character, who Cena described as a "douchey Captain America", first appeared in Fightin' 5 #40 and was created by writer Joe Gill and artist Pat Boyette back in November 1966. John Cena will play the titular role, which he'll also be playing in the forthcoming movie.Working alongside @JamesGunn on #SuicideSquad was an absolute masterclass in how to best bring beloved characters to life in a new and fun way. I cannot wait for the #DCUniverse to experience more of absurdity that is the Peacemaker in this new project on @hbomax!!! pic.twitter.com/PZ9dOa7Dzj — John Cena (@JohnCena) September 23, 2020"I have said before that it has been a tremendous honor and an incredible opportunity to be part of The Suicide Squad and to work with James on what is going to be a fantastic movie," Cena stated in a press release. The high-profile legal battle between Apple and Epic Games over how Fortnite revenue is split up is causing headaches for Fortnite players on iOS. Now, an official Fortnite Twitter account has warned that upgrading to iOS 14 may cause players to lose access to Fortnite. Unlike most other apps, you won't be able to re-download the game even if you "own" (have previously installed) it.Fortnite iOS players updating to iOS 14 may lose access to Fortnite. If the message “Temporarily Remove Apps to Install the Software Update?” is accepted, it may result in Fortnite being deleted. Fortnite cannot later be reinstalled due to Apple preventing users from doing so. — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) September 23, 2020To be clear, it seems that the concern has to do with the iOS 14 installation process, not the update itself. As a follow-up tweet clarifies, Apple gives you the option of temporarily removing apps to make room for the sizable update. If Fortnite players accept that option, they will be unable to reinstall the game, because Apple has removed it from the App Store. Some other Twitter users have responded to the tweet saying that they're able to play the game after installing iOS 14.As most Fortnite fans know at this point, Apple has blocked the game from the App Store because Epic Games attempted to circumvent the 30% cut that Apple takes from all sales, offering a 20% discount to players who purchased currency and cosmetics directly from Epic. This has resulted in an ongoing legal clash where both companies have made wild claims about the other, with Apple saying that the move was to restore flagging interest in Fortnite, and Epic comparing Apple to Big Brother, the symbolic antagonist from George Orwell's seminal novel 1984. Epic has already announced that Fortnite will no longer receive updates on Mac due to the dispute.Info from Gamespot.com

Developer Tripwire Interactive, the studio behind Killing Floor 2, announced that its shark-RPG Maneater will get a free PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/Series X upgrade when both consoles drop this November.More specifically, the next-gen upgrade will be available on November 10 for Xbox Series S and Series X and November 12 for PlayStation 5. Things get complicated if you own a physical disc and decide to purchase either the PS5 Digital Edition or the discless Xbox Series S; you'll have to repurchase the game. The upgrade features ray-tracing support, native 4K HDR at 60 FPS, and new lighting effects to make shark attacks more gruesome. Tripwire went further to say that the Xbox Series S (and, likely, the Series X as well) will "benefit from increased graphical fidelity and frame rate." According to an FAQ, this free upgrade is not a separate application or game; anyone who owns Maneater digitally or physically on either platform can upgrade to the next-gen version at no extra charge.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hell will soon be revealed for penny-pinchers like me. Doom Eternal is one of the most-acclaimed first-person shooters of the past few years. Now, it appears that the brutal sequel will soon make its way to Xbox Game Pass, based on a tweet from the service's Twitter account.Melissa said not to drop hints so we're not dropping hints. there are absolutely no hints in this screenshot. don't bother looking for them. there are none pic.twitter.com/0PQ41B260S — Xbox Game Pass (@XboxGamePass) September 23, 2020"The slayer is coming". 🧐 pic.twitter.com/gAj6iciG3j — Aragost (@AragostScott) September 23, 2020As the above reply reveals, futzing with the image in Photoshop reveals an image below the attached email that reads "the slayer is coming." The Doom reboot series has rechristened the Doomguy the "Doom Slayer" as part of its epic reimagining of the original games, thus suggesting that Eternal will soon come to the platform. Doom 2016 was previously available for Game Pass, but left the service back in May.Considering that Microsoft just bought Bethesda, the publisher of these new Doom games, it makes sense that this high-profile sequel will come to Microsoft's flagship games service. (The software giant claims the purchase isn't about exclusivity, but we'll have to see about that.) In GameSpot's Doom Eternal review, our critic Phil Hornshaw called the game an intelligently-designed follow-up to one of the most intense shooters in years.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With many movie theaters throughout the United States still closed, Disney has done some major reshuffling of its film release calendar. Included among the moving titles is Black Widow, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie set to release in theaters. Instead of arriving in theaters on November 6, its new date is May 7, 2021, according to Deadline. It's interesting to note that the original Black Widow release date was for May of this year, leaving it delayed at least a year--provided it ends up sticking with the May 2021 date. This also marks the first year since 2009 that there are no MCU movies in theaters, though WandaVision will premiere on Disney+.With that delay comes several MCU projects moving to later release dates. Eternals, which was going to be in theaters on February 12, 2021, is now set to debut on November 5, 2021. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which originally occupied the new Black Widow release date, will premiere on July 9, 2021. This also means that Eternals, which was originally set for theaters before Shang-Chi, will now arrive after it. So here is what to expect for the next few MCU releases:Black Widow on May 7, 2021Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on July 9, 2021Eternals on November 5, 2021Outside of the MCU, Disney has shifted a bunch of other release dates, as well. The King's Man, a prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, will now release on February 12, 2021. Death on the Nile, originally set for October 23, is not set to hit theaters on December 18. The upcoming West Side Story remake from Steven Spielberg is facing the biggest delay. Originally slated for December 18 of this year, it's shifting to December 10, 2021. Lastly, the adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel Deep Water moves from November 13 of this year to August 13, 2021.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sony recent held another big PlayStation 5 showcase, which offered a new look at Spider-Man: Miles Morales. After the event, Sony announced not only is the standalone adventure coming to PS4 and PS5, but that the original Spider-Man will be getting a PS5 remaster with a bunch on new graphical feature. The bad news? You'll have to buy the game again. In a situation similar to Control and its next-gen Ultimate edition, Sony is not offering a way for existing Spider-Man owners on PS4 to upgrade their version to the new PS5 remaster outside of buying the game again. In a statement from Sony, the company says the remaster won't be sold as a standalone, meaning you'll have to buy the $70 Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to get access to the remaster on PS5."There are no plans currently to offer Marvel's-Spider-Man: Remastered as a standalone," the statement reads. "Players with a copy of Marvel's Spider-Man for PS4 can purchase Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to experience Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered on PS5. Marvel's Spider-Man for PS4 also will be backwards compatible on PS5."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda includes some big notable properties like The Elder Scrolls, Doom, and Fallout, but it also includes new games in development like Starfield. The space-faring game from Bethesda Game Studios was a topic of discussion in a roundtable interview with Xbox and Bethesda executives. The Starfield exchange takes place between Microsoft's Larry Hryb and Bethesda's Todd Howard. Hryb pointedly asks what's up with Starfield, prompting Howard to joke that "it's got really good hype for a game no one has seen." He mentioned, offhandedly, that some people at Microsoft actually have seen it."I would say that it's a really exciting project that we've been doing for a long time," Howard went on. "Once we got on the new systems, the things we found we could do--it's a major engine rewrite on that game. People who know me, I like to wait as long as possible to show stuff. So we're closer to showing it than we were in the beginning of this conversation. And we'll see when. I think it's going to be something really, really special, and we're excited to work with Xbox on that."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced another massive acquisition with the purchase of Bethesda and all its properties and studios. Since then, a rumor has suggested that the Xbox parent company was preparing another big announcement at the Tokyo Game Show, but that doesn't seem to be the case.Rumors suggested that Microsoft was lining up a purchase of Sega and its properties, which today include everything from Sonic the Hedgehog to Persona 5. An announcement at the Tokyo Game Show would've made sense too, given Microsoft's struggles in Japan with regards to Xbox sales. In a summary of what to expect from its showcase, Microsoft shot down the rumors entirely.…and btw, there won’t be any new acquisition news at the show ⛔ — Xbox (@Xbox) September 23, 2020The rumors became so widespread on social media that it quickly became a running joke. Some unearthed a tweet from Sega's Twitter account from August that was argued as a hint for the announcement, while others embraced the absurdity with connections to some of Microsoft's latest Xbox products.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Perhaps as was to be expected, more of the films slated for release this year have been delayed, and that includes Black Widow. With the next movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe pushed until 2021, that clears the entire year's slate of Marvel films--making 2020 the first year since 2009 without any new Marvel movies to hit theaters. That will come as a surprise one way or the other, whether you think it's shocking it's already been a decade of annual (or more frequent) entries or that it's only been a decade. Either way, it seems fitting that what has been such a weird year will buck tradition in yet another way.The release of new Marvel movies is like clockwork. This year will be not only the first time we're not getting one in a given year in over a decade, it's also the first time since 2012 that we're not getting two (and the first time since 2016 that we're not getting three in a single year). A new Marvel movie hits theaters almost as often as the seasons change. I clean the unfortunate gap between the counter and my fridge less often. Their debut is a signal that it's a time for me to change my toothbrush head. It's how I know it's time to consider (but not actually follow through with) canceling my unused gym membership.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fear not, animation fans. Two of Fox's heavy hitters are in no danger of cancelation any time soon. They join The Simpsons, which already received its own renewal order for Seasons 31 and 32 back in 2019, as two more of the network's major tentpoles.President of Entertainment for Fox Michael Thorn offered this comment: "Family Guy and Bob's Burgers are key pillars of our network’s success. By taking the genre to new heights and driving pop culture in meaningful ways, they’ve laid the foundation for making Animation Domination one of the most powerful program blocks in all of television. Both of these two-season renewals affirm once again our commitment to animation and empower us to continue in our build as the leader in the space with distinct and fresh new comedies. We'd like to thank Seth, Loren and their entire teams, not to mention our partners at 20th Television, and we're excited to continue these great shows with them."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
