While the most recent Resident Evil movie series ended in 2017 with The Final Chapter, there's still plenty to come from the long-running zombie action franchise. Last month, it was reported that there are two Resident Evil shows in development for Netflix, and there's also a movie reboot in the works too. The first cast members from the film have been revealed, as well as some details about what to expect.As reported by Deadline, the movie will feature characters that will be familiar to fans of the classic video games series. Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) will play Claire Redfield, with Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Apple has set a date for its anticipated iPhone fall event. The online-only event will take place on October 13 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. The event will be streamed through Apple's website, like the recent Worldwide Developers Conference.CNET reports that the event is expected to debut the iPhone 12, which is said to feature 5G capabilities. In the case of the PlayStation 5, though, it isn't quite as simple as you might think. You may expect to just boot up your new PS5 and have it retain any progress from your old PS4 games, but that won't necessarily work.The confusion is compounded by the fact that playing PS4 games on your PS5 comes in two distinct methods. The first is simply playing backwards compatible games on your PS5, while the second is upgrading your PS4 version to a PS5 version. So will your old saves work if you're playing a PS4 backwards compatible game on PS5? Will it work if you upgrade? The answer to one doesn't always apply to the other.This doesn't appear to be a problem on Xbox Series X/S, where Smart Delivery essentially treats games as the same across platforms. Baldur's Gate 3 is now available in early access on PC, Mac, and Google Stadia. And while it's just a taste of the overall game, we can already see that the finished product is shaping up to be massive.In our experience so far, we found that the explorable part of the early access map represents about 25 hours worth of content. But this sliver of the map is only about 1/5 of the total promised map size.This doesn't necessarily mean that the full game will be five times as long. It's possible the rest of the map will be more sparsely populated with activities, quests, and content. Publisher Sega has shared a new trailer for Yakuza: Like A Dragon that highlights some of the activities players can engage in when the game launches on November 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/Series X.Not every action in a Yakuza game involves fists, and the latest Like A Dragon trailer makes that abundantly clear. There are a variety of minigames to participate in, from expected activities like karaoke to more off-kilter experiences like recycling. Other minigames include batting cages, kart racing, school tests, and entrepreneurship. Players can even post up at an arcade to play a few rounds of Virtua Fighter, though it remains unknown how fleshed out that game is within Like A Dragon.The trailer is backdropped by syncopated guitar riffs and narrated by Ichiban Kasuga, who talks about how he wanted to be a hero like those in his favorite video games. For the month of October, Sony has added five new titles to its PlayStation Now streaming service. Fittingly, most of the games for this month have a horror theme or are set in a post-apocalyptic landscape.Days Gone is one of the titles and is an open-world survival horror game. It's set in post-apocalyptic Oregon where protagonist Deacon St. John has to fight humans and monsters alike in order to find his wife. MediEvil is a hack-and-slash video game featuring an inept knight mistakenly resurrected and who now needs to defend the medieval kingdom of Gallowmere. Friday the 13th: The Game is a multiplayer game and can host up to seven people. One person will be randomly selected to take on the role of Jason Vorhees and have the objective to kill other players. The rest will play as Camp Crystal Lake counselors who need to elude the murderer and escape.Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is a 2.5D puzzle platformer game with both offline and online co-op modes. Players have control over a wizard, thief, and a knight, and will need their different abilities to complete puzzles. Rad is yet another title set in an apocalypse. There are plenty of upcoming DC movies and shows on the way, but most of them are very much aimed at older viewers. Luckily, the studio hasn't forgotten its younger fans, and has announced a new animated pre-school show titled Batwheels.The series is an "animated action-adventure comedy series" and will air on Cartoon Network and HBO Max in the US, as well as globally across all Cartoon Network platforms. Rather than focus on superheroes themselves, Batwheels will center on a team of heroic vehicles, which help the likes of Batman, Robin, and Batgirl fight crime and defend Gotham City. DC states that Batwheels is now in production, but a release date has not been announced yet.The official synopsis for the show reads, "Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. October brings four brand new scary Blumhouse movies to Amazon Prime Video. It's exactly what everyone needs this year as they prepare to celebrate Halloween at home. The collection, titled Welcome to the Blumhouse, is more than just a series of spooky tales, though. While the production company's last streaming movie deal, Hulu's Into the Dark series, focused on holiday-based films, the unifying element in these new films was to spotlight underrepresented directors."We decided what will hold them together is making them all [with] underrepresented directors," producer and Blumhouse founder Jason Blum explained to GameSpot. "I was very happy with that because what it did is it made us make movies that have a different perspective than people who looked like you and I."Instead, Welcome to the Blumhouse will feature movies directed by women and people of color. Those who play enough of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One will get an SMG weapon blueprint when the game drops this November. Players just have to reach level 10 to qualify for the freebie.The weapon is called Mutual Animosity and if the picture is anything to go by, the blueprint may feature a scope and suppressor. When your 15-minute run through the Haunted Forest event comes to an end during Destiny 2's Halloween-themed Festival of the Lost, you're greeted by as many as six loot chests that hold all their hard-earned winnings. But in addition to new rules with this Festival of the Lost that determine how you earn loot by completing the event, there's one last spooky scare up the Haunted Forest's sleeve. The stone bridge you cross to reach the chest gives out beneath your feet almost as soon as you touch it, tossing the Guardians into a frightening, blood-red pit below. Inside: an unkillable Hive Knight.It's a frightening twist to the horror-themed activity. Instead of getting your loot, you get stuck with a huge, axe-wielding monster, like that moment in every slasher movie when the killer inevitably isn't actually dead, and gets in one final scare. The trouble with the pit, though, is that at first blush, it seems to rob you of everything you fought for in the Haunted Forest, and makes it seem like there's no way to reach the reward chests.The good news is, even if you don't open the chest at the end of the Haunted Forest, you still get your winnings of Candy and Chocolate Strange Coins for the activity. They're automatically sent to the Postmaster, just like the stuff from chests in just about any other activity.
