Apex Legends launched a few hours late back in February 2019. Former Respawn lead programmer Jon Shiring had a court date to finalize his daughter's adoption at the same time the battle royale was supposed to be released.Filed the voluminous paperwork to finalize my daughters adoption today. Reminded me of the last time I was at that courthouse here in LA. So, the Apex Legends launch was weirdly late in the day - lunchtime PST - evening in Europe. Not when you’d expect. — ░〚GW〛 Jon 'slothy' Shiring ░ (@jonshiring) October 8, 2020"We had planned it for that morning, and then my court appointment to finalize my adoption came through - the court had picked February 4th at 10am - the same time as the Apex launch, I panicked," Shiring, who left Respawn in March to start a new game studio, tweeted. "Since I ran the ops and online services team for the game, this was bad."@DKo5 and everyone else at @Respawn actually pushed the secret game launch time back so I could get to my court hearing, then race back to the office and manage the launch with @thezilch and @mike_durn, and celebrate with the team.It was an amazing morning for me and my family! — ░〚GW〛 Jon 'slothy' Shiring ░ (@jonshiring) October 8, 2020Shiring said that other members of the development team pushed the launch time back by several hours so he could make it to his appointment and then race back to the office. The launch was scheduled for 10 am PT but happened at 12 pm PT. "It was an amazing morning for me and my family," Shiring said. "That's why Apex launched at a strange time ... because Respawn prioritized my family first."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A surprise new event has begun in Pokemon Go. From now through October 19, you'll earn new "strange eggs" when you defeat Team Go Rocket leaders in battle. Not only that, but you'll also have a chance to catch new kinds of Shadow Pokemon, including Shiny versions. As developer Niantic previously teased, the aforementioned strange eggs feature red polka dots. What sets them apart from other eggs is that they'll hatch into certain Poison- and Dark-type Pokemon, such as Larvitar, Scraggy, Trubbish, and Vullaby. The eggs also require much more time to hatch; you'll need to walk 12 km to hatch a strange egg, although hatch distance will be cut down by a quarter for any egg that you place in an Incubator during the event. As previously mentioned, you'll receive a strange egg when you defeat one of Team Go Rocket's three leaders: Cliff, Arlo, or Sierra. You'll still be able to receive these eggs even after the new event ends, but the Rocket leaders will be appearing much more frequently until October 19, making this your best chance to get them. On top of that, the following Pokemon will appear in the wild more frequently during the event:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the most complete Halo package ever released, but it doesn't have every one of Master Chief's journeys included in it. Halo 5 is the only mainline game missing from the collection, and it's going to stay that way.Developer 343 Industries reaffirmed in a blog post that Halo 5 is not currently planned to be added to The Master Chief Collection. The wording suggests this is not a set-in-stone declaration, but for now, it seems quite unlikely that Halo 5 will join The Master Chief Collection.Halo 4 on PC is lookin' really good.As it stands, Halo 4 will be the final game added to the collection on PC. The Xbox One edition has included Halo 4 since release in 2014.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Microsoft is ushering in a new console generation in November, and to hype up the launch of the Xbox Series X/S consoles, the company has recruited Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya for the console's launch trailer. The trippy trailer is set to the song "No Ordinary" by Labrinth, and it shows Kaluuya plugging into a new Xbox and getting transported into fantastical worlds. Master Chief makes an appearance, though it's not a proper look at Halo Infinite. The trailer ends with the tagline, "Power Your Dreams," which you should expect to see often, as Microsoft has trademarked that phrase. This trailer premiered during Sunday Night Football this past weekend, and you can expect to see it lots more in the lead-up to the Xbox Series X/S launch in November.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Just a year ago, Disney+ was a brand new beast in the streaming space, hitting the ground running with a fabulous first season of The Mandalorian. Now, streaming is becoming a focus for the company and prompting a major reorg in the process.Disney is restructuring to focus on its direct-to-consumer strategies, and will centralize its various media businesses into a single organization responsible for content distribution, ad sales, and streaming."I would not characterize [the reorganization] as a response to Covid," Disney CEO Bob Chapek said on CNBC's Closing Bell program. "I would say Covid accelerated the rate at which we made this transition, but the transition was going to happen anyway."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Infinity Ward is rolling out a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that will give PC players another way to decrease the game's file size, which is important given how massive the game has become.Production director Paul Haile said on Twitter that the October 13 update for Modern Warfare on PC will allow players to uninstall specific modes to free up space. Players on PC (and console, too) could already uninstall the campaign to free up space, and this goes one step further.tomorrows update will have mode specific uninstall options for PC MW owners. — Paul Haile (@Tyrael) October 12, 2020Modern Warfare's PC file size is north of 200 GB, so it's a welcome feature to be able to uninstall modes that you currently aren't playing much, but it's not an ideal situation regardless.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Warning: The Boys Season 2 spoilers below. With Season 2, The Boys proved that it's one of the best shows on TV--as well as one of the goriest. If you've ever wondered what it would really look like when Superman directed his "heat vision" someone's way, or what would happen to a whale if a pointy speedboat hit it broadside, full tilt--not that that's a normal thing to wonder about, but still--The Boys is the show for you. That level of blood and guts doesn't get cobbled together in an afternoon, particularly when heads are popping like bubble wrap in a crowded congressional hearing. To find out just how much work went into those effects and more, we jumped at the opportunity to chat with The Boys associate producer and VFX supervisor Stephan Fleet.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you're in Japan and searching for a new pair of Joy-Con controllers for your Nintendo Switch, you're in luck. VGC is reporting that Nintendo has cut the consumer price of their tiny controllers within the country, bringing them down by over 16% after over three and a half years on sale.Starting November 6, a single Joy-Con will cost 3740 yen (about $36) plus tax, down from 4480 yen (about $43) plus tax. This price cut is being applied across all controller colors, and will be available through Nintendo Japan's online store as well as at retailers. While Joy-Con were previously slightly more expensive in Japan than in the US (where a pair costs $80), now they cost a bit less. Unfortunately, it's not clear yet whether Nintendo will similarly cut prices in other regions, especially with the Switch selling extremely well. It's also worth noting that Joy-Cons continue to suffer from "drift" issues, and Nintendo has been facing lawsuits as a result--including one from a child. It's worth keeping an eye on Amazon right now if you're looking for a cheaper Joy-Con set, as last year the company discounted them for Prime Day. We'll keep you updated on our Nintendo Switch Prime Day hub.Info from Gamespot.com
