The long-gestating plans to turn the hit 1997 teen-slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer into a "YA horror series" just moved along one big step closer to reality: Variety is reporting that Amazon Studios has given the idea a series order. If the adaptation idea sounds a little out there, it's worth remembering that the '90s movie was itself an adaptation of the 1973 YA suspense novel of the same name by Lois Duncan.Sara Goodman (Preacher) will write and co-executive produce the series. Shay Hatten (John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum) will also co-executive produce, joined by James Wan (Aquaman). The new series sounds like a back-to-basics approach featuring the same premise as the movie (via Variety): "In a town full of secrets, a group of teenagers are stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night." Based on initial--though still sparse--details, the series will be a modern update sticking to the original formula."The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie," said Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television for Amazon Studios. "Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favorite film."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Spider-Man: Miles Morales features the younger, hipper wallcrawler striking out on his own under the mentorship of Peter Parker, but he's not quite alone. Apparently he has the help of a frankly adorable kitty-cat, who can even help him in battle. Watch out! Here comes a Spider-Cat.The revelation comes from Game Informer footage as part of its cover story. In it, Miles saves the kitty in a backpack, and then goes web-swinging to deliver it back home. Then he dons a suit that includes a backpack, complete with the newly dubbed "Spider-Cat" in tow. The cat can even be seen assisting him in a finisher against the world's most humiliated thug. The kitty just hangs out in his backpack all the while, showing a level of calm and restraint that would not actually exist in any cat stuffed in a bag while you do aerobatic backflips. The mask makes him look distinctly like Spider-Cat, an actual character from Earth-999 in the Marvel comics multi-verse.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's been seven long years since Dexter, the Showtime drama about a forensic analyst who serially murders all his problems away, bowed out with a series finale after eight seasons. And apparently, seven years is a long enough runway for the curtains to rise on a newly announced limited series revival: According to a release sent out by TV network, Michael C. Hall and showrunner Clyde Phillips are reteaming for a 10-episode return that is due to begin production in early 2021 and set to premiere sometime next fall."Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and fow Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago," said Gary Levin, Showtime's co-entertainment president. "We would only want to revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can't wait to shoot it and show it to the world!"Despite that stated eagerness, the release contains no details on what the new "creative take" will be. But seeing as how--spoiler alert--the series wrapped with Dexter faking his own death and living under a new name in Oregon, while his sister was in a coma and his son Harrison was sent to live with an ex, it's safe to say Dexter has more than a few unresolved issues.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Although Nintendo's not quite as reticent to discount its games as it once was, it's still fairly uncommon to see the company's titles go on sale, which makes it ironic that some of the best Prime Day 2020 game deals we've seen have been for Switch games. A number of the console's best titles are currently discounted at Amazon and other retailers, including the recently released Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition $40 (was $60) Like many other first-party games, Xenoblade Chronicles typically retails for $60, but you can get the game right now for $40. That's the lowest price we've seen yet, so if you've been on the fence, this is a great chance to pick it up. You can see the game at Amazon below. See at Amazon Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition released on Switch this past May. This updated version of the classic Wii RPG features improved visuals and refined UI elements. On top of that, it comes with a brand-new epilogue story called Future Connected, which follows Shulk and Melia's adventure one year after the events of the main story. We gave the Switch version a 9/10 in our Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition review. "Although not every aspect of Xenoblade Chronicles has aged as well as others, Definitive Edition proves that Xenoblade Chronicles is still a fantastic JRPG with an immense amount of strategic depth that's still impressive in 2020," critic Jake Dekker wrote. "Its bevy of improvements and additions, as well as its fantastic epilogue, make this an adventure worth embarking on a decade later."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

NVMe SSDs are the fastest storage you can put into your PC right now, and while the technology is looking forward to Gen4 speeds that rival the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X, Gen3 NVMe SSDs are still worth investing in. Amazon currently has a fantastic Prime Day deal on a 1TB WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD for $120, down from its regular price of $250.It's worth keeping in mind that your motherboard may not support a Gen4 SSD, so there's actually a benefit to going with a Gen3 SSD like this one. You need compatible M.2 slots on your motherboard for NVMe SSDs, and if you put a Gen4 SSD in a Gen3 motherboard, you won't be able to take full advantage of the SSD's max speeds. Because of this, you can save quite a bit of money buying Gen3 NVMe SSDs instead. WD Black SN750 1TB NVMe SSD $120 (was $250) The SN750 has read/write speeds of 3,430MB/s. While the bigger deal belongs to the 1TB model, the 500GB model is also discounted to $63 (down from $80). If you order the 1TB model, please note you will have to wait a few weeks for it to ship--the 500GB model can be delivered by the end of the week. See at Amazon If you are looking for an NVMe SSD that meets the speed requirements of the PS5, then you'll be happy to hear that Western Digital recently revealed its Gen 4 lineup. That includes the WD Black SN850 NVMe SSD, which can reach read speeds of 7,000MB/s and write speeds of 5,300MB/s.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Kraven the Hunter is a fearsome tracker who once killed Spider-Man. Who would you cast in that role? Jeffrey Dean Morgan? Manu Bennett? Joe Manganiello? Idris Elba (he's good in everything)? Sony and Marvel have settled on comedian and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, if the comedian's own tweet is to be believed.Thrilled to announce I've been tapped to play Kraven the Hunter in #SpiderMan3 @TomHolland1996 — Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) October 14, 2020We've reached out to Sony directly for confirmation of this casting, but have not yet heard back as of the time of this writing. Really, this could be an elaborate ruse by Kimmel to slyly announced Matt Damon will play the role, for all we know. After all, the duo have had a long and very funny history of pranking each other. On the one hand, searching for "Jimmy Kimmel prank" turns up 632,000 results on Google. On the other, Marvel has toyed with weird casting before. Paul Rudd wasn't an immediately obvious choice for a superhero, but has turned Ant-Man into a household name. We raised an eyebrow when Marvel cast comedian Kumail Nanjiani in the upcoming Eternals film alongside Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie, and then he got so ripped that the collective internet paused for a minute to take notice, proving that he can at least look the part.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Marvel's Avengers has a new patch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and it introduces some major new content. This promises "new narrative, characters, and content," although the patch notes don't get too specific about what this will all look like. It'll appear in the Pacific Northwest region of the War Table once it arrives. The Tachyon Rift missions also relate to these anomalies, hurling players into dangerous environments where Tachyon storms will damage them over time (but also charge up their Heroic energy faster). These missions require a 140 Power Level or higher, and are available once per day, rotating out daily. They will also offer up a Cosmic Gear, a new tier of high-powered gear for your Avengers.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is asking Disney some tough questions following the entertainment giant's decision to lay off 28,000 park employees at the end of September. Warren wrote a letter on Monday addressed to Walt Disney CEO Bob Chapek and chairman Bob Iger about the reasoning behind the layoffs. The letter is five pages in total, but Sen. Warren gets to the heart of the matter right away:"I write to express concern about The Walt Disney Company’s (Disney) recent decision to lay off 28,000 workers during an economic recession while reinstating pay rates for highly compensated senior executives," Warren wrote. "In the years leading up to this crisis, your company prioritized the enrichment of executives and stockholders through hefty compensation packages, and billions of dollars’ worth of dividend payments and stock buybacks, all of which weakened Disney’s financial cushion and ability to retain and pay its front-line workers amid the pandemic."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
