The official Fortnite Status Twitter account announced that the special Halloween challenges had to be pulled a day early "due to an issue."Developer Epic didn't share any further details on what the issue in question is, but it did note that it plans to compensate players for ending the challenges early. PlayStation 5 releases in November, and with it, a host of accessories unique to the next-generation system. The DualSense controller is Sony's first move away from the DualShock labeling, and includes new features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. One of the DualSense controller's other qualities, however, is that it doesn't work while hooked up to the PS4. Sony's current-gen console registers the new controller, but you can't use it to play any games.It appears that the DualSense controller does work with the Nintendo Switch, however. Twitter user BrokenGamezHDR connected the DualSense controller to Nintendo's hybrid console by using an adapter. Bethesda is working on a new game engine to power its upcoming next-gen games, The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield, and now Todd Howard has teased just how significant the update to the engine may be.He said during a recent event (via GI.biz) that the overhaul to the engine is "probably the largest we've ever had, maybe even larger than Morrowind to Oblivion." Control was among the best games of 2019--and one of the most taxing in terms of graphical fidelity. Even on the powerful PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, Control would sometimes hitch, drop frames, and struggle as protagonist Jesse Faden telekinetically hucked objects at Hiss enemies or smashed through the offices of the Federal Bureau of Control, flinging papers and wood splinters in all directions in her wake.The high graphical requirements seem like they would preclude Control from ever running on the Nintendo Switch, a less powerful game console than its Sony and Microsoft counterparts. But Nintendo and publisher 505 Games found a workaround: streaming. The release of Control: Ultimate Edition leverages cloud technology to make the game available on Nintendo's little hybrid console, and the results are surprisingly strong. With a stable internet connection (my Switch said I was getting around 30 mbps down and 8.2 mbps up over WiFi), Control plays very well on the Switch with all its options, and if you haven't had a chance to check out Remedy Entertainment's killer title, this is a good way to do so.If you're not familiar, Control imbues you with supernatural powers and sets you loose in the Oldest House, a brutalist concrete office building with shifting walls and seemingly impossible scale. It houses the FBC, a government agency dedicated to the study, protection, and containment of "paranatural" objects and entities. VR support for upcoming PlayStation games is a little more confusing than we imagined. If you're looking forward to playing Hitman 3 in first-person to truly become Agent 47, you'll actually be doing it with the PS4 version of the game. Yes, even if you have a PS5.Speaking to UploadVR, Sony explained that because the PlayStation VR headset acts as a backwards compatible unit on PS5, you need the PS4 version of Hitman 3 in order for it to work. The PS4 version includes a free next-generation upgrade if you play it on the newer console, so you should still be able to experience the enhanced visuals when outside VR. Activision Blizzard has reported new financial numbers for the July-September period, and it was a gigantic quarter for the gaming publisher. One section of the company's business that did particularly well was microtransactions. For the three-month period, Activision Blizzard made $1.2 billion from microtransactions, which are called "in-game net bookings."This is a dramatic 69 percent improvement over the same period last year, when Activision Blizzard made $709 million from in-game net bookings.Microtransactions are very big business for Activision Blizzard. While riding your palamute, you can sharpen weapons, boost stamina, or use potions, meaning that you can move towards your target while also preparing for battle. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to break sales records. Activision Blizzard has announced that the game's first-year sales are the highest in Call of Duty's history. However, the company did not provide an exact sales number.That is a notable achievement given that the figure only covers up to September 30, so the game--which released in October 2019--didn't even need a full year to break the single-year sales record for the franchise.
