One of the most popular Call of Duty brands, Black Ops, returns this week with Black Ops Cold War from developers Treyarch and Raven. The sub-brand is one of Call of Duty's most successful commercially and with fans, and two veteran developers have spoken to GameSpot about why they believe the series continues to be so popular.Senior creative director Dan Vondrak from Raven said it comes down to the stories that can be told in the Black Ops universe. Whereas the other games, like Modern Warfare, are grounded in real history, the Black Ops games are known for being more playful with their tone. Also, people love conspiracy theories and learning about the seedy underbellies of governments, real or not, and Black Ops delivers this in spades. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has a strong narrative, one that places the game in an interesting position within the AC canon that long-time fans of the series will likely appreciate. But if you want to get absolutely everything out of its story, you'll need to be proactive, the game's narrative designer has explained.Ubisoft Montreal's Darby McDevitt has taken to Twitter to encourage Assassin's Creed fans with an interest in the "modern day" storyline running through the series, which started with Desmond Miles in the very first game, to log out of the Animus at regular intervals throughout the game's story."We don't kick you out of the Animus often, BUT we do update Layla's dialog with her colleagues quite a few times," McDevitt says, "usually after major events in the Eivor-Sigurd storyline."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Assassin's Creed Valhalla features a massive world to explore during the age of the Vikings. The world of Valhalla has an impressive sense of scale, and you will have your work cut out for you when taking on new missions and unearthing the many secrets that the land has to offer. One of your safe havens in the game is the settlement of Ravensthrope, which is your main base of operations in the campaign. As you continue with Eivor's story, you'll uncover some unique opportunities to expand the settlement in some interesting ways.In this guide, we're highlighting some key details to consider when it comes to building your base and expanding Eivor's influence in England and beyond. While the settlement opens up early in the game, you're only scratching the surface of what opportunities it can bring you for the first 10 or so hours of the campaign. Along with fishing, hunting, and online trading, the settlement can also introduce new quest lines that will let you bond with its inhabitants. So here's a quick rundown of some things to consider when it comes to building your base.Patience Is KeySurprisingly, this is one of the more critical things to consider when working on your settlement. As soon as you reach England and break ground on your new base of operations, you'll likely want to drop everything and focus on recruiting followers, building new structures, and generally just making your base the best it can be. Building your settlement is very much a long-term project in Valhalla, and while you can take part in raids to net some new resources, you'll need to level up more and take on new story missions to continue building it beyond your more modest means in the opening hours.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, there isn't a waypoint for everything. In fact, a great deal of the coolest side quests and things to do or discover in the game aren't even tracked in your Quest log. You just have to go out and find them, and mark down what you're supposed to do in your mind or on a piece of paper. It's so cool.Below, we outline a few of our favorite hidden quests and secrets to discover in Assassin's Creed Valhalla--not all of them mind you, just the ones that tickled our fancy or caught our eye. Don't worry, no spoilers here. We're just going to point out where to go to kick off a secret side quest or find a cool discovery.Take A Beat To Take A BreakAs per tradition, a great deal of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is someone in the present-day using an Animus to relive the memories of someone in the past. Unlike older games in the series, however, Valhalla doesn't pull you out of the Animus all that often. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't just hop out every once in a while.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dynamite, All Elite Wrestling's weekly TNT series, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, and there is another milestone on the horizon. AEW is launching multiple video games, one of which is from Yuke's, the developer of numerous WWE 2K titles.During the AEW Games event on YouTube, which began 47 minutes after its scheduled start time, three new games were announced, one of which was being developed by Yuke's. Hosted by Omega, Dr. Britt Baker, Cody, and Aubrey Edwards, the untitled game is currently in development. There is no release date set at this time.Previously, Yuke's was behind games like the Smackdown series, along with WWE 2K's series--alongside Visual Concepts. There's a narrative reason for why this game is called The Pathless, but the name is also a reference to how it's supposed to be played. It's an open-world puzzle game with emphases on exploration and skilled traversal, and you are meant to wander and experience its world as you find it, rather than as a series of checklist objectives. The Pathless' vast, puzzle-filled nature creates a nice, quiet space for running through the woods, lining up some tricky shots with your bow, and losing yourself in the moment. In The Pathless, you are a woman simply known as the Hunter. You've come to liberate a ruined land, empty of all human life save for a masked villain called the Godslayer. The land's protector deities, known as The Tall Ones, have transformed into villainous beasts that roam the wilderness. With the help of your eagle, an avatar of the eldest god, you must free the spirits and save the land. The plot is limited--aside from a few sparring exchanges between the Hunter and The Godslayer, the general tenor is simply, "keep going."The Pathless on PS5To free the Tall Ones, you must collect their seals and reactivate monuments scattered around their domains. Each of the four regions is a beautiful, sprawling wilderness, with sweeping plains, peaceful rivers, and high rocky peaks. Hills and valleys are sparsely dotted with signs of life, past and present--friendly animals, ruins, and giant skeletons. There are just enough setpieces in each area so that there's always a new objective on the horizon, without making the world feel crowded or even populated. When you're running from place to place, you feel like you're in nature--not a wasteland or a ruin, but somewhere untouched. It feels quite serene to run through.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A Quiet Place Part 2 was one of the first movies to be pushed back at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled to hit theaters at the end of March, it found a new release date on April 23, 2021. Still, despite this major setback, the minds behind the Quiet Place franchise are hard at work coming up with ways to expand the line-up with more stories. A new installment is set to release in 2022 with filmmaker Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) to helm, Deadline reports. It's not clear whether Nichols' new film will be A Quiet Place Part 3 or a spin-off movie set in the same shared universe. For the uninitiated, the Quiet Place films take place in a world besieged by sound-hating monsters that arrived one day without warning and proceeded to violently take over, slaughtering anything that so much as made the slightest noise and forcing people to either adapt to this new world order or die. Because of the first film's zoomed-in scope, it's hard to tell exactly how far the monsters' reign of terror extends--we only really see and experience the lives of one family, the Abbotts, who have carved out a very quiet life for themselves. But we can easily assume, based on the glimpses we see in the first movie and some of the hints dropped in the second movie's trailers, that the Abbotts aren't the only ones out there surviving.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
