Extraction, the Chris Hemsworth-starring action movie for Netflix written by Joe and Anthony Russo (The Avengers), is getting a sequel, and now we know when it may begin shooting. SaGa Frontier Remastered has been announced, and it's an improved version of Square's 1998 PS1 JRPG. The game, originally released in the US in 1998, is being remastered for Switch, PS4, mobile, and PC, and some cut content is being restored for this new version.SaGa Frontier presented players with seven potential protagonists, and let them explore the game world in a non-linear fashion. For the Remaster, there are now eight characters--Fuse, who appeared on the start screen but was not available in-game, has been restored. Each character has their own goals and ending, so you could conceivably play the game through eight times and have a different experience with each character.Beyond Fuse, there are also other scenes and sections that were cut from the original release that are being restored. This should be the ultimate version of SaGa Frontier. The game, set across a whole solar system, was considered confusing by many critics at the time, but it was well-received in Japan and has a cult following. You can check out the Remastered version in the trailer below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Goonies and Rudy actor Sean Astin starred in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings series as the ever-faithful and genuine Samwise Gamgee. The character appears in a number of emotional and impactful scenes as he helps Frodo to Mordor to destroy the One Ring, but there is one scene in particular that always makes Astin choke up.Speaking to CinemeBlend, Astin said he always tears up during the scene in Return of the King when Aragorn expresses his gratitude to Sam and the rest of the Hobbits for their part in destroying the One Ring. It's an emotional scene on its own, but for Astin in particular, it has a special resonance because it was the final scene he filmed."The last [scene] we shot was a scene that always makes me cry in the movie, when Aragorn turns and looks at us and says, 'Oh, my friends, you bow to no one.' That was the last shot of the four Hobbits. My last shot," Astin said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Croods: A New Age opened at the US box office over the Thanksgiving weekend, and it was--by the standards of 2020 movie releases--a solid success. The film pulled in $14.2 million across the 5-day frame beginning Wednesday, Deadline reports, with $9.7 million of that figure happening across the three-day weekend. The film was shown on 2211 screens, according to Box Office Mojo. That's the second-best figure posted by a movie since the pandemic closed cinemas back in March, after Tenet's opening. However, while Tenet's opening was reported as a $20.2 million figure, this included sales of preview screenings in the week leading up to this weekend, and Warner Bros. has been opaque in their reporting of Tenet's daily figures. It's possible that The Croods: A New Age actually had a bigger opening weekend. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The PlayStation Plus Collection gives PS5 owners access to some of the biggest PS4 games as part of their standard PS Plus subscription, but you cannot claim the games via PS4. That led to a market of PS5 owners offering to sell access to these games via temporary guest logins on their console, but it appears this practice is resulting in bans. Here's how it works in a nutshell:PS5 owner offers to claim PS Plus Collection games for a PS4 owner.PS4 owner gives them their login details so the PS5 owner can claim the games.PS5 owner signs back out of the account after claiming games.PS4 owner changes their password. As it turns out, Sony isn't a big fan of players doing this. According to VGC, Hong Kong PlayStation 5 players who have sold access to the games--as well as the PS4 players who purchased them--are having their accounts banned. The bans on the accounts don't appear to be permanent, but the PS5 consoles themselves can no longer connect to PSN. Given that online access is required for nearly everything in modern gaming, including finishing installations of disc-based games, in many cases, this essentially renders the PS5 systems useless.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Over the past few days, rumors have circulated around the gaming industry that Marvel's Avengers sold well below Square Enix's expectations, which led to a disappointing financial quarter for the publisher. Now, an official transcript of a Square Enix investor briefing confirms that the game underperformed, which resulted in the publisher's HD Games division posting an overall loss."The HD Games sub-segment posted an operating loss as initial sales of Marvel’s Avengers were lower than we had expected and unable to completely offset the amortization of the game’s development costs," a portion of the briefing reads. "In the second half of the fiscal year, we hope to make up for slow initial sales by offering ample additional content to grow our sales."In a Q&A, one investor estimated the operating loss of the HD Games division in Q2 of this year as around 7 billion yen, which is roughly $67 million. The company attributed the game's slow sales in part to marketing delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. When asked about the volatility of the HD Games division, Square Enix replied that it considers the totality of its Digital Entertainment segment rather than the HD Games division in isolation by using stable income from MMOs and mobile games to offset potential losses of big-budget games like Avengers.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
