Debuting in the Star Wars Holiday Special back in 1978, Boba Fett was one of the franchise's most mysterious characters. Having follow-up appearances in The Empire Strikes Back and in Return of the Jedi, Fett captured the hearts--and wallets--of Star Wars fans for decades. So what's he been up to all these years, especially since he's supposed to have been dead? Here's what we know leading up to the latest episode of The Mandalorian. If you remember the Star Wars prequels, then you know Boba's "father" was Jango Fett, a Mandalorian foundling--a child adopted into the Mandalorian culture. Later in life, his DNA was used to create the Clone Army for the Galactic Republic. Jango was given one clone for his own to raise, and that was his "son" Boba Fett. This happened during the movie Attack of the Clones. After Jango was beheaded toward the end of the movie, Boba joined a team of bounty hunters in order to get revenge on Mace Windu, who killed his father, on the animated series The Clone Wars. Obviously, that didn't work out, but during this time, Boba started his own bounty hunter syndicate on Tatooine. He eventually became one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy; however, this happens entirely off-screen, as there is a huge gap between his childhood years in the Clone Wars and when Boba reemerges during A New Hope where he's working for Jabba. This is only in the remastered version. Theatrically, Boba's first appearance was in Empire.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has insisted that Japan remains incredibly important to the company, slamming reports suggesting otherwise as "inaccurate".Ryan, speaking to Edge (via GamesRadar) in its latest December issue, stresses that PlayStation has not been as excited to work with Japanese developers for some years. The executive was also quick to point out the many Japanese-produced titles that appeared on the two PS5 streams ahead of the console's launch."In our two launch shows – which featured a reasonable amount of games, but not a huge number of games – there were eight Japanese-developed titles there, many of which are the subject of collaboration and partnership between PlayStation and the Japanese publishing community," Ryan explained.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

On this week's episode of GameSpot After Dark Jake and Kallie are away, which means the Yakuza fans are out to play. Specifically, Lucy, Michael, Jean-Luc, and Tamoor sit down to have a nice long chat about Yakuza: Like A Dragon, an exciting new entry for the beloved franchise that does a few new things. Of course, longtime listeners might point out that we talk about Yakuza a whole bunch regardless of whether Jake and Kallie are on and, to those people we say, yes, but this time we're talking for an extra long time about Yakuza, because it's one of the major releases for Xbox Series X and S, and because it's just a fantastic game. But, alongside that, we've also got a bit of chat on Final Fantasy XIV (we can't have Michael Higham on and not talk about that game--it's basically the GameSpot law at this point.) We also cover the recent mumblings about a battle royale mode for Halo Infinite and the rather bombastic end to the latest Fortnite event. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Two of this year's biggest surprises might not be directly trying to take each other out, but in this Star Wars Battlefront II mod, it's all about the intergalactic struggle between Fall Guys and Among Us.The mod transforms the Rebel Alliance fighters with the colorful bean bodies of the contestants from Fall Guys, while the Imperial forces are all replaced with stretched out and frankly uncomfortable models from Among Us. You can see the forces waging war in the gameplay below, which somehow works despite the clashing art styles. The mod was seemingly commissioned by YouTuber ToastedShoes (and developed by NoTengoTortuga) who showcased the gameplay above nearly a month ago. The mod wasn't public then, but you can grab it from Nexus Mods now. It's two separate downloads for each of the teams, and you will need an additional Fall Guys Hero Overhaul mod to get those characters working.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

DC newcomer Naomi will be headed to the small screen in the near future. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Emmy-winner Ava DuVernay is collaborating with Arrow executive producer Jill Blankenship to develop a CW show based on the DC character. If greenlit, that gives DuVernay three upcoming DC projects under her belt, including the New Gods and DMZ TV show, both already in production.Naomi is one of the newer DC Comics characters as she made her debut only last year in Naomi: Season One. Created by Eisner winners Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker and illustrated by Jamal Campbell, Naomi's story begins when a fight between Superman and Mongul crashes into her hometown. From there, she discovers a family secret as she realizes she is more than your average human. Both CW's Black Lightning and Supergirl will be wrapping up in 2021, it looks like the CW is betting on younger, newer characters as it gets together its superhero lineup going forward. The network is also working on a Wonder Girl series and a Black Lightning spin-off centered on Jordan Calloway's Painkiller as well as continuing the Batwoman series with new lead Javicia Leslie.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

2020 is (finally) coming to an end, which means we've got a whole new year's worth of games to look forward to. Though both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 are now out, the past console generation hasn't been abandoned just yet. So as we look ahead to games coming to Xbox in 2021 and beyond, we need to consider both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S.It's worth noting that some of these games are third-party titles that are scheduled to release for PlayStation and/or Nintendo consoles as well. If you're looking for something a bit more next-gen console-specific, we've also compiled a list of all the games currently scheduled to only release for Xbox Series X/S in 2021 and beyond.AvowedSet in the world of Eora from the Pillars Of Eternity series, Avowed is an upcoming RPG from developer Obsidian Entertainment. We know pretty much nothing else about the game--Obsidian has only revealed that it will be an "epic, first-person RPG" and that it will release for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Given the current lack of details, we imagine that Avowed is probably scheduled more so for "beyond" than 2021, but we'll see.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Unlike the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S launched without any console exclusives, and it won't have any by the time 2020 ends. But all of that changes starting in 2021, as Xbox is scheduled to see a few console exclusives release on its next-gen hardware.Below, we detail all of the console exclusives currently scheduled to release for Xbox Series X/S. That does mean that you'll find these games on PC as well, but you won't on other consoles (or at least, not at their launch). As such, we've left off certain high-tier names like Halo: Infinite, which is only launching on Xbox in terms of consoles, but it's releasing for both Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. No cross-generation titles here folks, we're only looking at games that are exclusively releasing for the new console generation.AvowedFrom developer Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed is a single-player RPG set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian has described Avowed as an "epic, first-person" experience, but we don't know much beyond that. The game doesn't even have a release date yet.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Since the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we get our entertainment, yesterday was the biggest bombshell yet as Warner Bros. announced that it will release its tentpole features like Dune and King Kong vs Godzilla on HBO Max and in theaters at the same time.Cineworld previously criticized Universal Pictures for pushing ahead with a premium VOD rollout of Trolls World Tour amid the pandemic over the summer, but it exceeded expectations for the studio. Taking that into consideration and Warner Bros' big moves next year, that seems to have shifted Cineworld's stance on the subject. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Regal owner Cineworld Group has reacted to Warner Bros.' move by looking beyond the pandemic to an eventual agreement with the Hollywood studios.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

NHL 21 is making some changes to the matchmaking experience that should result in a better time for players. A new update is coming soon that adds a "Max Average Ping" setting that players can use to restrict the maximum ping for an online match. In a blog post, EA Sports said one of the loudest pieces of feedback it has received since launch is that players are willing to wait a longer period of time to find a match if that match has a good connection. This is particularly important in competitive modes. With the new Max Average Ping setting, players should get a better experience because they can define what ping they are OK with. The ping range is between 20 ms and 100 ms. Players can also select "Any" if they don't care about ping.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fall Guys looks set to get another major crossover costume, and this time it's one of gaming's biggest heroes. The game's official Twitter account has released a sneak peek, and it looks very familiar. It looks like you'll be doing some ripping and tearing. Or at least, you'll look like you could. Unless we're very much mistaken, it looks like Doomguy. Publisher Devolver Digital, by the way, seems to agree. The framing of the figure is very close to keyart from 2016's Doom, used as the cover image for some iterations of the game, too....time to suit upS O O N pic.twitter.com/XfkOwfpFNq — Fall Guys 👑 (@FallGuysGame) December 2, 2020The tweet suggests that we'll know "soon", so we don't expect a long wait for confirmation and a look at the costume. To add further fuel to the fire, the official Doom Twitter account has more-or-less confirmed that it's a Doom costume.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
