DayZ's latest patch is now live, and while it doesn't make a ton of changes to the core game, it wipes all progress on the game's official servers as part of a "fresh start" for the game's 2021. According to a blog post that accompanies the rollout of the patch, it focuses mainly on fixing bugs and improving the game's performance. For example, the patch improves the collision on zombies, such that they will no longer go inside player characters during hectic fights. Players will also find that attempting to get into a car will no longer teleport them to the roof of the vehicle instead. Various bugs affecting the game's horticulture and fishing systems have also been stamped out.The patch includes a number of other small fixes, including improved detection of area damage triggers like barbed wire and an increase in the number of mods that can be run by community servers. There's also a new rifle that spawns at helicopter crash sites called the SVAL--which is apparently the Czech word for muscle--and it's particularly nasty, so watch out for that.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With the premiere of Young Rock on NBC, a very different era of the professional wrestling industry is about to take center stage. Young Rock, as the title might hint, explores the life of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as an adolescent, long before he became the world's biggest movie star and WWE's People's Champion. It's set at three different times in Johnson's life--ages 10, 15, and 18--and shows the highs and lows of pro wrestling in the '70s and '80s.And who better person to show that industry to Johnson than his own father, "Soul Man" Rocky Johnson. In the series, actor Joseph Lee Anderson portrays the elder Johnson in a role that called on him to not only embody Rocky's personality but also his in-ring skills. It wasn't each for Anderson, but something he ultimately embraced--especially where Johnson's over-the-top charisma is concerned."In real life, I'm very like a shy, introverted, dude," the actor explained. "[Rocky] is not that at all." Instead, Rocky projected the aura that he was the biggest star in the room, regardless of that room's size.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Former Nintendo executive Reggie Fils-Aime might have retired from his most famous post, but he still has plenty of stories to share. In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, Fils-Aime suggested that he's working on multiple "creative projects" that capture his time in the industry, including a possible book."I have a number of creative projects going on," Fils-Aime said. "I am putting pen to paper and capturing thoughts and also thinking about podcasts...We did that as a fundraiser for the charity, and that worked out really well. So I absolutely see myself doing something in the creative space, but I've got no title to announce here today, I've got no details to share, but I've been asked by many people to capture these ideas, and I've begun that process."In the same interview, Fils-Aime said that the idea of "console wars" in gaming is mostly illusory, especially on the business side. He pointed out that all of the leaders of the major game companies come together every quarter to meet with the Entertainment Software Association, and they discuss what's best for gaming. He said he was disappointed by the transformation of E3 into a digital-only event, though he recognizes that it's necessary due to the pandemic. He also called the current level of diversity and representation in the gaming business "woefully inadequate."Info from Gamespot.com

McDonald's has started a new promotion, this time featuring the timeless, enduring property for kids and weird adults alike, Pokemon. And as one such weird adult, I sincerely regret to inform you that the included "toys" are actually pretty cool. Do with this knowledge what you will.We first started to hear scuttlebutt about the Pokemon Happy Meals in January, with leaked word that it would involve a series of paper-based "toys" instead of the plastic figurines of past promotions. Ha! How cheap, I thought, remembering such Happy Meal royalty as the Halloween dress-up McNuggets and Changeables, which were basically Transformers if Optimus Prime had disguised himself as a milkshake. Even the Pikachu with glowy red cheeks was up there as a pretty sweet collectible! Who needs cheap paper crap?I do, apparently.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Civilization 6 will be getting its next free community update on February 25 at 11 AM PT/ 2 PM ET/ 7 PM GMT.Each of these community updates brings a new feature along with it. For February, we're getting the Barbarian Clans game mode. Playing this way will completely change how you're used to interacting with the Barbarians in Civ 6. Instead of the standard kill-or-be-killed setup, this mode introduces six Barbarian clans that can be found living on or near different map conditions, with each specializing in a different unit type. Each turn, the Barbarians will accumulate progress towards becoming a city-state; it's your call if you want to help or hinder them in that endeavor.Destroying a clan will wipe it off the map completely, while choosing to raid one will allow you to earn gold and decrease some of that clan's progress. To stop clans from attacking your cities, you can bribe them or hire them to add their strongest unit to your army. Barbarian clans can also abduct your units, and you'll need to pay a ransom to get them back. To really get your Machiavelli on, you can Incite different clans by paying them to attack other enemy cities for you. Exchanging gold in this way will also allow a barbarian clan to gain progress towards becoming a city-state.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Razer Huntsman is among the best gaming keyboard options out there, but depending on the model you want, it can be quite expensive. However, the smaller versions are quite affordable, and right now, you can get the Razer Huntsman Mini gaming keyboard for $100, down from its regular price of $120. That might not seem like much of a discount, but this is the first markdown we've seen for the 60% keyboard. It's unclear how long this deal will be available for. Razer Huntsman Mini gaming keyboard $100 (was $120) The Razer Huntsman Mini gaming keyboard features Razer's excellent clicky optical switches, which provide faster actuation than regular mechanical keys thanks to the optical laser in each switch. The latest movie in the Paranormal Activity series has been announced. This will be the seventh film in the hugely successful found footage horror franchise, and it's set to arrive in 2022.The series kicked off in 2009 with Paranormal Activity. The film was directed by Oren Peli, a software developer with no prior filmmaking experience, who had a great idea that was relatively easy to execute and set about making it in his own home. The movie focused on a young couple who experience strange, scary noises in their house, so set up video cameras to record overnight to find out what is causing them. It was shot in 2007 and took two years to reach theaters, but was a huge success when it finally did, with audiences flocking to see this scary and intense found footage experience. The tiny $15,000 production budget and $193 million worldwide gross helped make it one of one of the most profitable films of all time.A sequel quickly followed, and soon Paranormal Activity had become an entire franchise. To date there have been six movies, and while budgets have grown a little, they have all proved highly successful. None of the films have deviated far from the formula--Paranormal Activity 3 was a prequel, the fifth movie, 2014's Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, introduced a cult aspect, and there is a vague connected mythology that has developed across the series. But for the most part the films have just attempted to replicate what made the first film so popular, with varying degrees of success. There was even a Japanese spin-off titled Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night, which was released in 2010.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
