A new report suggests that many AA and indie studios have been unable to secure development kits for Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of its launch this June.Several game developers from AA and indie studios spoke to The Game Business, who revealed their complaints in a recent newsletter. "New console audiences are often willing to try new things at the start, so we were desperate to get our hands on dev kits early. Nintendo has finally responded to us, but we still don’t think we’ll get anything for a few months," a AA game studio co-founder told The Game Business. Generally, the developers The Game Business spoke to didn't seem to think a large bump for indie games would arrive alongside the Switch 2 launch. They're still hoping to learn more about the process of acquiring a Switch 2 development kit from Nintendo now that more information about the system is public knowledge.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Bethesda's Todd Howard recently revealed why Fallout was adapted as a television series rather than a movie.Howard's comments were part of a bigger report from Variety about the process of video game adaptations. In it, Howard explains that a movie version of Fallout would've felt "too compressed" as the game series has such a vast and interesting world."Originally, a lot of people were approaching to do a feature film. And looking at what we wanted to do for this one, that felt too compressed. Fallout is such an amazing world--what would we really want to watch in it? Well, we’d like to watch the next story, or new stories in that world, as opposed to, again, in this instance, adapting a story we had told and kind of compressing it down. For this one, we were very much interested in telling new stories," Howard explained.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nearly three years ago, Sony confirmed reports about a Netflix TV series based upon Horizon Zero Dawn. However, the proposed live-action Horizon show was reportedly canceled last year. Now, PlayStation Productions chief Asad Qizilbash has offered an explanation about why the series didn't go forward.Qizilbash told Variety that the Horizon series "just wasn’t creatively going how we wanted to," which led Sony to reevaluate it as a potential movie rather than a television project. However, Qizilbash didn't touch upon the workplace misconduct allegations against Horizon showrunner Steve Blackman stemming from his time on The Umbrella Academy. Blackman denied any wrongdoing, and word about Horizon's fate was revealed shortly thereafter.Earlier this year, Sony officially put a Horizon Zero Dawn movie into development alongside a Helldivers adaptation. Neither film officially has a creative team or a cast yet, nor do they currently have slots on Sony's release calendar. Sony has previously produced other features based on PlayStation games, including Uncharted and the upcoming Until Dawn film.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As for the gameplay, this is a fun jaunt through a bank as you blast your way past security and steadily upgrade Turnip Boy's arsenal. The other great game on this list is SteamWorld Build, which takes place in the cowboy robot Steampunk universe. This time, the focus is on building a new home, mining the land beneath you, and increasing efficiency. SteamWorld games are generally fun adventures, and this one is a fun mix of resource management and spatial planning.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Duskbloods, revealed as part of the recent Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, will not feature fully customizable characters like Elden Ring or Dark Souls, developer From Software has confirmed, but will instead allow players to choose from a cast of "over a dozen" characters that can be customized. When The Duskbloods was first revealed, many thought it was akin to the PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne. That, however, is not the case, as the game is an eight-player, multiplayer-focused PvPvE title. In a new developer interview with The Duskbloods' director and From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki, he revealed more details about the game's PvPvE nature and the unique "Bloodsworn" characters players will be able to choose from.Rather than making a character from scratch, players will get to choose from over a dozen unique characters that have their "own identity and appearance," as well as unique weapons. Each character will have a weapon or tool to deal damage at a distance, as well the ability to summon an NPC to help them in battle.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
