The first footage of the highly anticipated Halo show has debuted--but you're not allowed to see it. The footage was shown during ViacomCBS's February 24 investor presentation, but as the company introduced whatever was shown, the screen faded to a blue screensaver for most of the people watching. It seems only the actual investors on the call got to see what the Halo show will look like.No doubt Halo fans will find this to be a lackluster way for ViacomCBS to finally show off the Halo series. The footage was played directly after the company announced that the series won't air on Showtime after all, but on the ViacomCBS streaming service Paramount+ (previously CBS All Access). That news came along with a ton of other Paramount+ news, like the announcement of a Beavis and Butt-Head movie and a Frasier revival. The Halo show has been in the works for years, originally with Steven Spielberg attached. We still know very little about it, besides a handful of casting appointments (such as Orange is the New Blacks' Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and Jen Taylor, who played Cortana in the Halo games, reprising her role). We also know that the show has shot in Budapest.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The slices of the streaming pie are getting smaller and smaller, but ViacomCBS is working hard to grab its piece. Paramount+, recently rebranded from CBS All Access, is heading to its back catalog once again. The service announced a raft of new shows greenlit for Paramount+ this week, cherry-picking from films as far back as 1969.Joining the previously-announced Grease prequel musical and Godfather documentary are five new shows based on films from Paramount's library: The Italian Job, Fatal Attraction, Love Story, Flashdance, and The Parallax View. Each show is taking a slightly different approach to updating its material. The Italian Job acts as a sequel to the original 1969 film--ignoring the 2003 remake. The show will focus on the grandchildren of Michael Caine's character, Charlie Croker, who inherit his safety deposit box and set out to find the Italian bullion from the movie. Hawaii Five-O writer Matt Wheeler is helping the show. Donald De Line, who produced that 2003 remake, is onboard as well.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With Rick and Morty well ahead of schedule, co-creator Justin Roiland has time to work on other projects. Solar Opposites feels like it could take place a few blocks from Morty's house, though Rick probably wouldn't abide aliens like the Schlorpians living on Earth. Hulu dropped a second trailer today for Solar Opposites Season 2 ahead of its March release. In Solar Opposites Season 2, the team tries to escape Earth, only for their ship to fail, dropping them right back where they started. The trailer gives us an idea of what to expect. That includes timely jokes about Big D*** Energy, poking fun at wearing masks during the pandemic, and, of course, beasts that eat people and defecate them as wine bottles. Listen, we're just telling you what's in the trailer.Solar Opposites, co-created by Roiland and ex-Rick and Morty writing assistant Mike McMahan, is the story of four Shlorpian aliens who crash-land on a home in suburban America. Krovo and Yumyulack hate the planet, while Terry and Jesse love everything humanity has to offer. Either way, they have to endure the planet until they can escape, or until their living super computer Pupa evolves to consume them and terraform Earth.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When you die in 30XX, thus bringing your run to a premature and perhaps permanent end, there's a good chance you will receive a message from the Bureau of Encouragement. In a roguelike platformer where death can feel like a crushing setback or at best wasted time, you would be forgiven for expecting to find comfort in such a message. A consoling pat on the back, some inspiring words, or at least a sliver of hope. You would be wrong. "Ooooh! So close…" says the Bureau of Encouragement. "Just kidding. That was terrible!"I received a lot of messages from the Bureau of Encouragement because I died a lot in 30XX. But the Bureau was not the only regulatory agency to contact me in the aftermath of my demise. The Failure Board and the Department of Aggravation also got in touch to register their contempt at my performance. "Remember, you can stop whenever you have given up hope," they laughed.Despite their derision, I pressed on. Much like the classic action platformers from which it draws heavy inspiration, 30XX is a game in which defeat is never an ending but rather an opportunity to start over and try again. A roguelike structure is a smart complement to this life-death cycle and positions 30XX--even in its Early Access state--as an accomplished title, worthy of comparison to its 8- and 16-bit forerunners.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The robotic mascot of Kojima Productions, a Ludens figure, was spotted on Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s bookshelf in a recent stream. To be clear, this doesn't necessarily mean that anything is happening with Hideo Kojima and Xbox--though a possible Death Stranding Xbox Series X port wouldn't be out of the question--but since Spencer has hidden surprises in his streaming background before, it's made people pay increased attention to it.Perhaps most notably, Spencer hid the Xbox Series S on his bookshelf in July 2020--months before the console's specs were fully announced--and no one noticed. In a somewhat similar move, Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya was wearing a headset in the Xbox Series X launch trailer back in October 2020, which was later revealed to be the new Xbox headset, which wasn't announced until February 2021.Phil Spencer on stream, he has a Kojima Productions Ludens figure in the background apparently next to the Xbox logo pic.twitter.com/nept872D7n — Wario64 (@Wario64) February 23, 2021In that stream, Phil Spencer spoke about the future of cloud gaming, saying that developers may build games for the cloud natively, without worrying about the limitations of consoles. Given the high-profile failure of Google's cloud gaming platform Stadia, which recently laid off all of its development staff, that future seems a bit far off.Info from Gamespot.com

You may have seen his videos floating around social media, relatively short snippets of him jamming out to groovy remixes of songs like Final Fantasy VII's "One-Winged Angel" by Nobuo Uematsu. What Alex Moukala is attempting to do, he explains on Twitter, is normalize video game music to make the sounds he grew up with and was inspired by more accessible to the masses. His process: take a popular video game track, split it in half, send a funky bassline and catchy kick drum pattern through the whole thing, and crank the volume all the way up.One-Winged Angel is Funky (Full Version)#FinalFantasyVIIRemake pic.twitter.com/7yEO7sai2a — Alex Moukala (@alex_moukala) February 2, 2021In order to start the conversation of normalizing video game music, Alex started a YouTube channel a couple of years ago to upload the full remixes of his funky-fied tracks. He also uses his skillset as a self-trained composer and producer to analyze his favorite video game songs, which includes tracks like Devil May Cry 5's "Bury The Light" and Persona 5's "Last Surprise."But what does bringing video game music into the mainstream actually look like? Popular music award ceremonies such as the Grammys don't include video game soundtracks for consideration and the revived MTV Video Music Awards killed the Best Video Game Soundtrack category in 2006, just two years after the celebration was originally established. The only other place where video game music is admired is in circles specific to video games, including shows such as the Game Developers Choice Awards and The Game Awards.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Following Gina Carano's firing by Disney due to her controversial statements, action figures for Cara Dune, the character she played in The Mandalorian, not only began selling out at most retailers but are also being sold for exorbitantly high prices on stores like Amazon and eBay.A cursory search on eBay for Cara Dune pulls an assortment of results with a common factor: their spiked price tag. While it's possible to find a few action figures selling for a reasonable price on eBay, most have their cost bumped by as much as 1150%. Cara Dune action figures typically sell for anywhere between $15 and $40, but the prices on eBay climb as high as $300. There's even a Star Wars Black Series 6-inch figurine going for $10,000 on eBay.The situation over at Amazon looks similar to eBay. There are more Cara Dune collectibles on the massive digital shop--such as posters and sweaters--but most everything, and especially the action figures, have absurd price tags. A Carbonized Vintage Collection series of Cara Dune sells for $118, while a Pop figurine and protector case are going for $100 on Amazon.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Peacock has ordered a competitive game show-style adaptation of the iconic 1981 arcade game Frogger. According to a release, a debut date has not yet been set on the streaming service, but 13 hour-long episodes have been ordered to see how it fares with audiences. As in the classic game where a frog must cross a busy road and busier river, the show Frogger will feature "physically demanding challenges [which] will see contestants dodge treacherous traffic, leap over snapping gators, and hop over hungry hippos to conquer the course." The show will feature a dozen obstacle courses or "crossings."What's more, the show--which will film in Australia--is also currently holding a casting call for contestants via this website. Once past the age gate on the website, the casting call requires a surprising amount of essay questions be answered, including questions on potential contestants' love of the '80s, memories of playing the original Frogger, how you'd spend the "huge cash prize" if granted "this hop-portunity." Neither the release nor the contestant application indicates a dollar amount for the prize.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
