Hero shooter Valorant is getting a little bit bigger with the introduction of its next character. Astra was revealed with a new trailer on February 27, and she looks unlike anything else in the game to date. In the trailer, we see Astra use some purple space-like fields placed on the ground, and she soon pops up into the air before sucking a few enemies into a gravity device that resembles Zarya's ultimate ability in Overwatch. We see a big purple bubble seem to envelop the map at one point, so it's possible other players will be alerted when Astra is using a particular move. She seems designed to give the other team fits, breaking up formations and making it easier for others to go in for the kill. When players get trapped by her gravity move, for instance, another player fires a few shots at the sitting ducks to take them out.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The director explained that he didn't know if it would be used as an opening credits sequence or promotional material released ahead of the film.In it, a Mother Box is shown, documenting the history of the DC universe's superheroes. "No, [The Snyder Cut] doesn't really encompass any of the additional movies, other than little, I mean it hints at a potential other worlds," explained Snyder. "I plant the seeds, as I wanted to of what would come in the you know later films."Originally, the sequel to the theatrically-released Justice League would have taken the team to the Knightmare future where we briefly saw Batman. "The next movie--if there ever was one and doesn't seem like there ever will be--but if there was, it would exist, primarily in that world with them trying to set it right," Snyder explained.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

One of the most surprising revelations about Zack Snyder's director's cut of Justice League is that the film will feature the return of the Joker, as portrayed by Jared Leto--who reprises his role from the Suicide Squad movie. For those wondering how this came about, Snyder gave some context during IGN's Fan Fest.As revealed in a trailer for Justice League, Joker appears in Batman's Knightmare vision of a post-apocalyptic world that was first seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. How that fits into this movie and whether it's actually a version of the future or merely a dream remains to be seen, though it could have something to do with the cliffhanger that will end the Snyder Cut. Regardless, that setting was too tempting for Snyder to not include Joker."You'd always wanted [Joker] to be in the Knightmare reality," he explained. "And so it was a great opportunity. And when I talked to Jared and he was interested in doing it, I just felt like, 'Okay, this feels like a thing. I can't pass up.'"Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Despite running just 20 minutes, the Pokemon Presents event featured some big news, particularly if you're a Sinnoh fan. The event saw the announcement of remakes for the original Sinnoh games, Diamond and Pearl, but more notable was Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a brand-new game set in the region. While we don't know much yet, it's described as a "bold new direction" for Pokemon, and one particular part of the trailer will likely stick out to Zelda: Breath of the Wild players. Virtually every shot in the trailer shows the player in vast, open areas. The rolling fields, sweeping vistas, and sprawling valleys all suggest a more open nature to the world in Legends. But if there was any doubt about what Game Freak is going for, the trailer practically hammered viewers over the head with a reference to Breath of the Wild.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Twitch has pulled a series of anti-union ads its parent company Amazon ran on the platform. This comes after pro-union media organization More Perfect Union reported on the ads and streamers like Glam Shatterskull and Natasha "Zombaekillz" Zinda levied criticism against them.According to More Perfect Union, the ads were to "scare its Alabama workers about unionizing." They're filled with talking points slamming unions, with employees saying there's "great leadership" at Amazon and that unions "just take your money" and do nothing with it. The ads encourage people, particularly Amazon employees, to vote no on unionization.Twitch has responded to these ads running on its platform by removing them entirely. In a statement to Kotaku, a company spokesperson said the ads should not have run at all.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Publisher Kalypso Media has wanted to return to the turn-based tactical RPG Disciples franchise for years, despite the lack of any new entry in the series for over a decade. The niche franchise is getting a surprise revival this year with Disciples: Liberation, revealed via a fairly gruesome trailer. "We always knew we wanted to continue the franchise and we have been ideating on the next game in the franchise for many years," Kalypso Media owner and managing director Simon Hellwig told me. "We also took our time finding the right developer and found the ideal match with Frima Studio."Disciples: Sacred Lands didn't grab too much of an audience; if Wayback Machine can be trusted, GameSpot awarded the first Disciples the "Best Game No One Played" award back when it came out in 1999. Its follow-up, 2002's Disciples II: Dark Prophecy, is a lot more popular, while 2010's Disciples III: Renaissance (which marked developer Strategy First's departure from the franchise) did not receive as positive reviews as the first two games did.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Persona 5 Strikers isn't your typical musou action game. There are familiar elements like tearing down mobs of enemies in wild "one-versus-100" style combat. But this game takes many of the gameplay mechanics from the Atlus RPG and fuses them with Omega Force's high-octane action template. Strikers also sticks to its Persona roots by bringing some light life-sim mechanics, but with some tweaks that might take some getting used to. For various reasons, it can be a lot to take in whether this is your first musou game or first Persona experience. Here, I've compiled a list of tips to help guide you through Persona 5 Strikers. While there are plenty of tutorials that establish the basics of the game, figuring out how to best approach the game's many facets is another challenge. Much of this guide involves the intricacies of being effective in combat, but there are other features you'll want to use properly like the Bond system and persona fusion. For more on this action-based adaptation of the iconic RPG, be sure to read my Persona 5 Strikers review, and read about how you can approach the game if you haven't played Persona 5 before.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rumors were swirling that The Pokemon Company would unveil remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as part of its Pokemon 25th anniversary celebration--and sure enough, we got our first look at Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl during the February 2021 Pokemon Presents stream. That the remakes are indeed coming is not in itself surprising; The Pokemon Company has been steadily remaking older entries in the series, and Diamond and Pearl were the next in line to be modernized. What was surprising, however, is the approach being taken with the Diamond and Pearl remakes. The Pokemon Company stressed that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are "faithful" remakes, and they certainly look as much. The games deliberately invoke the aesthetic of the original DS titles. Not only do they retain the classic top-down perspective, but characters and other overworld elements also have the same squat proportions as they do in the originals, which makes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl look more like touched-up versions of the DS games rather than full-fledged updates. This is in stark contrast to the approach Pokemon developer Game Freak has taken to previous remakes. Each time the studio has remade an older pair of Pokemon games, it has updated them to modern standards. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen modernized the original Gen 1 games in the style of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire; HeartGold and SoulSilver updated the Gen 2 games in the vein of Diamond and Pearl; and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire made over the Gen 3 games to match Pokemon X and Y.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Thus far, it's hard to view Google Stadia as a success. The streaming service has failed to attract a large audience, and Google recently stopped first-party game development a little over a year after the service officially launched, leaving multiplatform games to fill out its library and putting its lifespan in question. This is despite spending a substantial amount of cash out of the gate to scoop up big-name games.According to a new report from Bloomberg, Stadia boss Phil Harrison--who previously held executive positions at both Sony and Microsoft--wanted to make a big splash by paying "tens of millions of dollars" for games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 on the platform. It was a very bullish decision that, paired with exclusive games from its internal studios, would have given Google a path toward success with Stadia.Harrison was part of the PlayStation at Xbox teams at arguably their lowest moments. While working as an executive for SCE Worldwide Studios, the PS3 launched and struggled with a high price point and lackluster exclusives early on. As Corporate VP at Microsoft, he was a leader for the Xbox brand in Europe when the Xbox One launched with a similar thud.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
