Los Angeles, one of the nation's biggest theatrical exhibition markets, is poised to re-open its movie theaters as soon as this weekend depending on the outcome of a meeting of local health and state officials later this week. During a recent visit to a mobile vaccination clinic, Governor Gavin Newsom indicated movie theaters and theme parks could be coming back to life sooner rather than later--and with restrictions still in place. It all depends on the COVID-19 vaccine and the impact it seems to be making. By Friday, Newsom says, 2 million vaccines will have been administered, an impressive milestone that also represents a hopeful dent and reversal in coronavirus trends."Moving through the weekend and into next week, you will see more activity, more loosening," predicted the governor (via Deadline). "That's encouraging and I hope people will be enthusiastic about what this means moving forward, because we have a series of other thresholds and other goals that will allow us to move forward with more clarity, more conviction and more confidence as we move through the next few weeks and the next few months."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Everyone has their favorite Mario game and remembers their first experience fondly--stomping goombas and koopa troopas, collecting stars, and making tight jumps in whichever whimsical world sticks with you, especially at a young age. With games like Super Mario World and Super Mario 64 often cited as the quintessential series entries, and seeing that evolution with the likes of Galaxy and Odyssey, it's easy to see why these action-platformers are highly regarded and often cited as formative gaming experiences..I've enjoyed those games and understand the fervor of people's love for them, but they're not necessarily what made Mario important in my eyes. The lens through which I've always understood the franchise has been Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, the 1996 SNES game from Squaresoft (now Square Enix). It's a game that took the things we loved about Mario and subverted expectations. It made Mario, Bowser, and Peach allies, and it gave the series' characters a vibrant world to live in.Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, and Chrono Trigger were already among the SNES greats, but Square had one last game in it before jumping ship to the PlayStation. And the developer's RPG mastery transformed that beloved Mario universe into something much more than a platforming adventure. Square gave Mario the Final Fantasy treatment with unique story arcs, the development of existing characters, new faces that quickly became favorites, an ingenious combat system, and an unforgettable soundtrack. On its own merits, Mario RPG stands among the genre's greats.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The idea of a spinoff from the Rocky series sounded silly before we saw the first film, but the Creed movies have become a showcase for actor Michael B. Jordan. That's even moreso the case with Creed 3, where Jordan will be stepping behind the camera in addition to starring in the film. And now, we know when to expect the next chapter of the boxing saga--Creed 3 is set to release in Fall 2022.MGM revealed today that Creed 3 will arrive just in time for Thanksgiving, hitting theaters on November 23, 2022. Creed 3 marks Jordan's directorial debut. Keenan Coogler, brother to Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, is taking on writing duties for the film. Coogler also wrote the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy."Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right," Jordan said in an official statement. "Creed 3 is that moment--a time in my life where I've grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The final tier of armor available in Valheim right now is Padded Armor, and like the other tiers before it, you're going to have to work hard to make it. You can only create Padded Armor with materials from the Plains biome, but unlike other armor sets, it doesn't require you to find new metals, but rather new plants. Here's everything you need to know to create Padded Armor in the Plains so you can prepare to take down the fifth Valheim boss, Yagluth. We've got lots more Valheim coverage, check out our complete Valheim armor guide, as well as our guide for finding Iron and crafting Iron gear and for finding Silver and crafting Wolf armor, for venturing through the Swamp biome, and for taking down the Elder boss in the Black Forest and Moder, the dragon boss of the mountains. And if you really want to bend Valheim to your will, check out our cheats guide using the game's console codes. What To Do FirstYou can't really deal with the Plains biome until you've made significant strides through the other biomes, and particularly the Mountains. You'll want a good set of Wolf Armor before venturing into the Plains, unless you don't mind doing a lot of corpse runs to recover your stuff, so be prepared to construct a Silver mining operation to get yourself geared up. You may even want to put in the time to gather extra resources and upgrade your Wolf armor as much as you can.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

WandaVision's first and possibly only season has come to a close on Disney+, and we're still working through all the Easter eggs and plot implications. One of the biggest moments of the series was when Wanda's dead brother, Pietro, knocked on her door. Only it wasn't Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played the character in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Instead, it was--spoilers ahead--actor Evan Peters, who played the mutant version of the character in three of Fox's X-Men movies. In a new interview by Variety with actress Elizabeth Olsen and head writer Jac Schaeffer, Schaeffer revealed just how surprised she was by the fan reaction to this moment."Naively, I didn't expect people to get carried away in that way," Schaeffer said about the whirlwind of fan theories that followed Peters' appearance. "We didn't anticipate that the show would drop after a full year of MCU drought in the middle of a pandemic.""I couldn't have anticipated, I don't know, maybe [WandaVision executive producer] Mary Livanos and [MCU mastermind] Kevin Feige are like, 'Yeah, it's like this every time,'" Schaeffer continued. "But I'm like, these theories are crazy! So it's not that it wasn't that it was not part of my thinking, and also, that's not my department. I am lucky enough that I get to hear about the other projects and sometimes involved in their conversations. I know a little bit about all the things that Lizzie's been up to."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has never been shy about finding occasions to trot out its legacy games, but it leaned especially heavily on Mario's back catalog for its Super Mario 35th anniversary celebration. Back in September, the company collected the plumber's three earliest 3D adventures--Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and Mario Galaxy--into one Switch compilation, while Wii U's Super Mario 3D World arrived on the system (bundled together with the wonderful new mini-adventure, Bowser's Fury) just last month. Between these two releases, almost all of Mario's 3D games are now available to play on the hybrid console, making it nearly the perfect system for Mario fans--were it not for a handful of glaring omissions. While most of the plumber's 3D outings have made their way to Switch by this point, Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are still conspicuously missing from the system. The former's absence is somewhat understandable; although 3D Land remains a great game and was a true showpiece for the 3DS's stereoscopic 3D, its ideas and gameplay would be greatly expanded on and refined by 3D World. With that game now on Switch, 3D Land isn't as sorely missed (and, arguably, would not play as well if it were released on a system without stereoscopic 3D).Super Mario Galaxy 2, however, remains a puzzling omission. Mario's second Wii adventure is one of the most highly regarded entries in the series. Not only is it one of the rare few titles to earn a 10/10 from GameSpot, but it was also the highest-scoring game of its year according to GameSpot sister site Metacritic. All of this acclaim is for good reason: Mario Galaxy 2 built on its (already delightful) predecessor in every way imaginable, throwing a head-spinning array of inventive ideas and mechanics at players. Later Mario games, especially 3D World and Super Mario Odyssey, would retain Galaxy 2's freewheeling inventiveness, but the Wii game remains the most finely tuned and polished game in the series.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Over the past few weeks, rumors have swirled that Call of Duty: Warzone will soon experience a catastrophic event that will change the face of the game overnight. According to several notable leakers, this hypothetical "nuke event"--named for the nuclear warhead that was found in Bunker 11 back in 2020--will totally destroy the game's Verdansk map on March 11 to coincide with the game's one-year anniversary, clearing the way for a totally fresh locale. That said, given that these rumors are largely based on the work and opinions of leakers, there's no way to know for sure if anything will happen on March 11. Given that other battle royale games like Fortnite have utilized terrain-changing disasters such as meteor strikes to change up their maps, it doesn't seem too far-fetched to expect Warzone to follow suit, but the exact timing is a mystery to everyone right now.Back in February, VGC published a report that claimed that Activision would blow up Verdansk in order to transition Warzone from the setting of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to the '80s-themed Black Ops series. VGC also reported that the nuke was originally scheduled to correspond with the release of Black Ops Cold War last year, but it was delayed. That report suggested that the nuking itself would take place sometime in March or April.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A Call of Duty: Warzone player has been handed a brutal loss after attempting a slick finishing move, only to catapult themself off the map and to their death. The instant karma moment was captured on the Warzone subreddit and you can watch it below (via GamesRadar). Here's how it went down: the final two players are facing off in the final circle, and one player goes down. The other attempts to conclude the match in style with a punishing finishing move, but the animation of the finisher propels the player into the sea and to their demise. This new finishing move lmao from r/CODWarzoneThe downed player ends up winning when they certainly thought all hope was lost. It's a tough way to lose a match, but you have to admire the confidence to try the finishing move in the first place. It certainly would have been an epic way to end the match had it worked out.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

World of Warcraft's latest patch drops very soon, and it introduces a litany of small changes that will definitely make a difference to your average player. Though this isn't the major Chains of Domination update that was announced back in February, it does tackle a significant issue that players have been reporting with Shadowlands: an inability to progress through its endgame without participating in PvP, or other content that they might not enjoy as solo players. In order to alleviate this persistent issue, Patch 9.0.5 reintroduces Valor Points, a currency that players can use to upgrade Mythic+ gear. Though the Valor Points system is still in early stages, it's essentially a currency that players earn when they complete Mythic+ dungeons that they can spend to augment their existing gear, for those times when you don't quite get the drop you wanted from the dungeon. Rare and epic Covenant Callings also award players with Valor. In terms of other changes, the patch brings minor shifts to many aspects of the game, particularly individual classes. These changes are quite detailed, so if you're looking to learn how your preferred class has been changed, it's probably best to scroll down to the patch notes below. The patch also adjusts Covenant companions to make them slightly more effective in combat.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The first trailer for the new Amazon series Them has been released. Them is a dark anthology show produced by actor Lena Waithe (Westworld, Master of None) and writer Little Marvin. The first season of Them is titled Covenant.
