HBO Max's previously proposed cheaper, ad-supported tier will indeed become a reality in June. According to a release (via The Verge), in addition to the newly announced target release date, major details also include the insight that unlike full-price subscribers, ad-supported customers will be unable to access same-day theatrical releases. After Warner Bros.'s surprising and seismic announcement back in December that its entire theatrical line-up would debut on HBO Max, this is an interesting wrinkle to its plans--especially as, knock on wood, major theatrical markets in New York and Los Angeles are winding their way to re-open with restrictions. Earlier this month, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar recently noted that the movie industry is still in "experimentation mode" on theatrical windows, and that "most people on this planet are not wealthy," so multiple venues to catch new releases should no longer be viewed as a threat to the previous one-size-fits-all dynamic favoring theaters.Still, major studios are making no secret that they are betting on streaming services. According to Variety, AT&T has substantially raised subscriber targets for HBO and HBO Max through 2025 to between 120 and 150 million, up from the 75 to 90 million previously projected in the fall of 2019. There has been tons of discussion and predictions about what "going back to normal" after COVID-19 means, and it's increasingly clear that the pandemic has made many impacts on our relationship with consuming content.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Disney+ has it's next MCU series landing on Friday, March 18: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Critic reactions are already landing on Twitter, and the general consensus is that it's pretty good. While official reviews for the upcoming series are still days away, general reactions give us a little insight into what Episode 1 of the show will be like. Obviously, Falcon and the Winter Soldier won't be as experimental as WandaVision was to start. It is a lot more aligned with a typical Marvel movie, but in a TV show format. Check out some of the reactions to Episode 1 below.Watched the first episode of #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier. It's a lot of fun. It didn't grab me nearly as much as #WandaVision ep 1 and felt much more like standard Marvel movie fare (not in a bad way). The quiet character moments were my favorite of the episode. — Chris E. Hayner (@ChrisHayner) March 12, 2021I've seen the first episode of #FalconAndWinterSolider, and like #WandaVision, this is something new from @MarvelStudios. A character study mixed with blockbuster visuals, it's a slow burn, but a showcase for Mackie (#SamWilson) and Stan (#BuckyBarnes). That ending, though... 👀 pic.twitter.com/zo3S1f1s5Q — Josh Wilding (@Josh_Wilding) March 12, 2021#TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier’s first episode was interesting & character-driven.For Marvel’s Phase 4 to stand apart, it needs to stray from the traditional formula & rely on different tones and formats. The first half of #WandaVision set the bar. Let’s see if TF&WS reaches it. — Sheraz Farooqi (@SherazFarooqi_) March 12, 2021Saw the first episode of #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier yesterday and I love the direction of where it is heading. This one felt like a full scale MCU film and there is a ton to know about Falcon 10 minutes in the episode. Also, this is a very different Bucky than when we (1/2) — Julian Cannon, The Writer 🗒☠️ #BLACKLIVESMATTER (@julianexcalibur) March 12, 2021#TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier: Only 1ep was shared w/ press, but v promising so far. Seemingly like The Americans or Homeland meets real-world Winter Soldier tone. Emotional cost & consequences, guilt, struggle w/ identity and legacy, and even notions of being black in America. — The Voice Of Reason™ 📽🎞📺 (@YrOnlyHope) March 12, 2021Really liked the first episode of #TheFalconandtheWinterSoldier. Took a bit to totally grab me but as it goes on, you see where they’re going as far as getting to dig deep on who these guys are in a way we hadn’t before. There quickly is some Bucky stuff that is really powerful. — Eric Goldman (@TheEricGoldman) March 12, 2021The first episode of #TheFalconAndWinterSoldier is loaded with action that you’d expect to see in an MCU movie. But for me the best stuff were the quiet scenes that showed Bucky dealing with his past and Falcon trying to figure out his post-blip life. Big thumbs up. pic.twitter.com/LZeM45Eovf — Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) March 12, 2021Saw the first episode of FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER. So far so good? Tough to tell after one episode, but I’m a huge Falcon fan so I’m glad this exists. Also there’s a character that shows up that is a definite, “Ohhhh, so that’s what this series is about,” moment. — Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) March 12, 2021Oh hey I guess I can say I’ve seen the first episode of #FalconAndWinterSoldier? Probably more character development for these 2 characters in these 45 minutes than the previous 10 films. Big scale with some nice “what’s it REALLY like to be a superhero” moments. I’m in. — Josh Horowitz (@joshuahorowitz) March 12, 2021The first episode of #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier is exactly what I expected a Marvel TV show to be pre-#WandaVision - and that's not a bad thing! I do hope they invest in letting us get to know Sam (esp Sam) and Bucky better more than big CGI sequences. So far it's a good time! — Trish (at the holidays) (@MeggoInc) March 12, 2021 Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

LittleBigPlanet servers are offline across a wide variety of LBP games, and it appears that a DDoS attack may be the cause. Sony and support studio XDEV have only confirmed "technical issues," but the fan community suspects foul play.Eurogamer reports that fans have expressed concern over community features being targeted by a disgruntled fan, who reportedly is unhappy with how Sony has been treating the franchise. The DDoS attacks have targeted content for various LBP games, though not LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita. Fans also suggest the same attacker could be behind the social media site LBP.me, which has been down for months.LittleBigPlanet was released by Media Molecule in 2008, with a single-player campaign and a robust set of creation tools. That was followed up by two more sequels and handheld spin-offs, with Sumo Digital taking over in 2014. The most-recent game from Sumo was a departure from the classic LBP franchise, instead putting the mascot character Sackboy into a 3D platformer without any creation tools. That game, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, doesn't appear to have been impacted by this attack.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fallout 76's April update will introduce a few big changes to the online game, letting players swap out their CAMP and SPECIALs quickly, and for free. The update is coming April 27 and adds a lot more options for players, with low friction to try new things. Bethesda detailed these additions in the latest Inside the Vault, along with some other features about to go through the test server.First, the new CAMP slots feature will let you save multiple configurations of your homestead. Your CAMP is a big part of Fallout 76, letting you create a customized house with all your decorations and equipment. The CAMP slots feature will let you build multiple versions of your home, in case you want to swap out different decor, or have one that's just the essentials and another that's more lavish with lots of homey elements. You can only have one CAMP deployed at a time, but there will be no cost to switch between your slots. A video showing the feature in action made it look pretty fast and easy.Similarly, the April update will introduce SPECIAL loadouts. Just like the CAMP slots let you swap your base on the fly, these loadouts will let you change your entire character's stat makeup quickly, and for free. The loadouts will be managed by punch card machines located both at your CAMP and train stations, so you can switch from being a burly brawler to a perceptive genius as the situation demands.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

WandaVision's series finale aired last week, with the aptly titled episode "The Series Finale," and head writer/executive producer Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel, Black Widow) has spoken in a new interview about how the unusual show came together. Speaking with Mashable, Schaeffer discusses the show's teasing deceptions both intentional and unintentional, and about the challenges WandaVision presented in the writing. As Schaeffer explains, she feels a lot of the scrutiny and avalanche of fan theories the series has received about where it was heading plot-wise was "directly tied to the year-long gap in Marvel content and the fact that everybody is house-bound." For example, Schaeffer had said in another interview that she "naively" didn't expect fans to have a huge reaction to Pietro, Wanda's dead brother, making an appearance. As she said in an interview with Variety, "We didn't anticipate that the show would drop after a full year of MCU drought in the middle of a pandemic."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The latest movie in the Candyman franchise hits theaters later this year. It's a direct sequel to the classic 1992 supernatural chiller, and is produced by Jordan Peele. The original Candyman was an adaptation of the short story The Forbidden, by Hellraiser and Hellraiser creator Clive Barker, and directed by Bernard Rose. The film focused on the legend of the Candyman, who was originally the son of a slave but grew up as a successful businessman in the late 19th century, before his relationship with a white woman led to horrendous death at the hands of a mob. Many decades later, the vengeful, hooked-handed, bee-summoning ghost can be conjured up by anyone who dares to say his name five times into a mirror. The movie was only a moderate success, but nearly 30 years later, it stands as one of the best horror films of the decade--an intelligent, scary, and beautifully-made chiller that has stood the test of time. Two sequels followed--Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) and Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999)--but they were inferior follow-ups that contained little of the original's mix of scares and powerful social commentary.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
