As part of Sucker Punch's announcement of the Ghost of Tsushima movie from John Wick's Chad Stahelski, the studio also revealed a new sales figure and more for the game. In a blog post, game director Nate Fox revealed that the PS4 exclusive that also plays on PS5 through backwards compatibility has sold 6.5 million copies.Ghost of Tsushima being a success story for sales is no surprise, as the game eclipsed all others from Sony's first-party studios to become the fastest-selling new IP history on PS4. As of November 2020, the game had sold 5 million copies. That's a huge number and makes it quickly one of Sony's best-selling exclusives of the past generation. For comparison, PS4 games God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn each sold more than 10 million copies, but those milestones came later in their respective lifecycles. Another PS4 exclusive, The Last of Us Part II, sold 4 million copies in its first week.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Outriders is just a week from launch, and Square Enix has shared details on when you can pre-load and then start playing the game. Xbox and PlayStation platforms appear to get a slight head start on both pre-loading and launch, depending on your territory. In fact, on Xbox platforms you can begin pre-loading today. That's doubly significant since it will be available through Xbox Game Pass, so you should be able to pre-load the game through the Game Pass subscription itself. PlayStation will begin pre-loading 48 hours ahead of its release. Square Enix says it is still determining its options on Steam and will share more information next week, and pre-loading on the Epic Game Store is not available. The situation is similar for launch times. On consoles, the game will unlock at midnight on April 1. In the US, this means midnight eastern time, or 9 PM PT on March 31. The PC and Stadia versions will have one single global release time, set for 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET on April 1. Bungie is rolling out a new change to how it balances teams in Destiny 2's PvP mode, the Crucible, as part of this week's Iron Banner event. The adjustment doesn't change Destiny 2's matchmaking system, but does adjust how players are assigned to teams once they're in a lobby, in hopes of making matches a bit less lopsided. The developer detailed the change in its This Week at Bungie blog post, where it explained how things will work in Iron Banner and Iron Banner: Freelance starting today. The new algorithm for choosing teams, Bungie said, is a little bit like a schoolyard picking system like you'd see as two team captains each take turns picking from a pool of kids to join their teams. The algorithm looks at the skill of players in the lobby and tries to assign them to teams in a balanced way, placing the top player on team one, the second- and third-best players on team two, the fourth-best player on team one, and so on.That's different from the balancing system Bungie was using previously, which would try to make both teams have the same average level of player skill. The result was that teams were often lopsided. This was especially apparent if you were to play multiple games in a Crucible playlist--you'd often see the same players matching with you and getting assigned to teams in roughly the same way, first on one side, and then the other. The result was a series of swings where a player might get clobbered in one match and win handily in the next, while playing with roughly the same group.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Metacritic, a sister-site of GameSpot, has published its annual rankings of game publishers. These rankings apply to games released in 2020, and the top publisher of the year may surprise you. Even more surprising are some of the names that ended up low on the list.48 publishers' games were compiled for the ranking, which used several factors such as average game Metascore, percentage of products with "good" reviews, and percentage of products with "bad" reviews to determine the final total. This way of factoring in both the stinkers and the hits meant that even the smallest publishers had a shot of reaching the top spots. Several did, in fact, including Annapurna Interactive, Aksys Games, and No More Robots.Sega took the top spot this year, averaging an 81.6 average review score and narrowly beating out Annapurna in terms of total points factoring into the ranking. It benefited from the continued success of the Yakuza series as well as Persona 4 Golden hitting PC. Capcom, Sony, and Activision Blizzard rounded out the top five.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Writer Gary Whitta is very close to achieving one of his dreams: making a sequel to the 1984 movie The Last Starfighter. During a Twitch stream, Whitta revealed a sizzle reel, concept art, music, and the working title of the film. The Last Starfighters (working title) has not been given the green light. However, Whitta--working alongside The Last Starfighter writer Jonathan R. Betuel--believes that's right around the corner. "We are, I believe, very very close--closer than anyone has ever been to making a new Last Starfighter fighter movie, like right on the one yard line," Whitta explained. "After pushing the boulder uphill for years we are very, very, very close. I can't really say anything more. Other than that, you know because it's there's all stuff happening behind the scenes now, like there's things I can't tell you but we are very, very close, I believe it will happen."Whitta explained that this movie would be a sequel--not a reboot, revamp, or reimagining. Betuel and Whitta became friends and quickly realized when it came to the movie, they were both on the same page: "We wanted to do a sequel that kept the original in canon, and which, which continued the original storyline and honored the original."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The latest trailer for the PvP heist game Hood: Outlaws & Legends details the fourth and final character class, the Mystic. The class seems tuned to support, though it's not without its share of combat abilities as well. The Mystic is an ex-inquisitor who uses a flail as his primary weapon. He can regenerate his stamina faster than other characters, so he can win battles of attrition. He also has a poison ability that saps opponents' stamina. His Ultimate ability is Instinct, which allows him to see through walls for a short time and heal himself and nearby allies. Altogether, the trailer explains, he's well-suited for healing and crowd control.Within that context, though, the Mystic can be customized to suit your needs with different loadouts. Your perks could make your grenades heal allies instead of poison enemies, convert damage to health to withstand a battle even longer, or increase everyone's movement speed if you sprint alongside them.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Legendary actress Jessica Walter, most recently known for her turns as Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development and Malory Archer on FX's Archer, has died at age 80, Deadline has confirmed. She passed away in her sleep in her New York home last night.Across her decades-spanning career, Walter was nominated for both Emmy and SAG awards and lent her incredible talents to film, TV, and Broadway. In addition to her now iconic (and frequently memed) role as the hilariously cruel Lucille Bluth, Walter also starred in such pieces of cinematic history as Clint Eastwood's Play Misty For Me which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. On the stage, Walter performed in multiple Tony award winning productions such as Anything Goes, and most recently a 2016 revival of Steel Magnolias. When she wasn't turning out gut-splitting live-action performances, Walter lent her talents to animated shows like Archer, where she delivered deadpan zingers as Archer's mother Mallory across a whopping 110 episodes.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fortnite Season 6 kicked off with the game's first-ever single-player event, the Zero Crisis Finale. If you missed it when it debuted last week, the solo nature of the event meant it could be accessed at any time after its debut on March 16, but that window is soon closing. The Fortnite Zero Crisis Finale playlist will leave the game next week during the game's regularly scheduled downtime.Epic hasn't given a precise date and time yet, but the team has assured fans that despite this week's challenges mostly going live on Tuesday, the normal Thursday schedule will resume for the rest of the season. That suggests your last chance to play the Zero Crisis Finale will be sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday depending on your time zone. Of course, you could also just watch it in the video below. If you'd rather play it yourself, we won't spoil it all. The story mission's total runtime is less than 15 minutes, including a cinematic directed by the Russo Brothers, and features a playable section that lets you try and fix the Zero Point which floated ominously at the center of the Season 5 map. During the Zero Crisis Finale, you'll also come face to face with The Foundation, a mystery character whom fans believe is secretly portrayed by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. On top of all that, you'll see some fun crossovers, like Ellen Ripley and Sarah Conner teaming up to take on a xenomorph and a T-800, or Kratos struggling to take down an anthropomorphized stack of pancakes. Yeah, Fortnite gets pretty weird.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Of all the games that could benefit from a next-generation patch, From Software's Bloodborne might be one of the most frequently requested. The 2015 PS4 exclusive might not be getting that from its developers, but it seems someone has managed to get it working on a PS5 with improved performance.According to Digital Foundry, an undisclosed party has managed to take existing work done to Bloodborne on PS4 and managed to get the game running at an (almost) flawless 60fps on PS5 at 1080p. The version was verified by Digital Foundry and is presumably running off a development kit for the console, although the publication was unable to play the build personally. This new iteration branches off work done by Lance McDonald. He previously managed to inject performance improvements From Software added to Dark Souls 3 into Bloodborne, enhancing the game's locked frame rate to 60 FPS while getting a stable framerate at 720p. The mod only ran on PS4 consoles that could accept unsigned code, making it difficult to play even after the patch was released publicly.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
